But just because they'll add more gore doesn't mean they will go overboard.
I don't think they'll go directly into M ratings. Should they decide to take the route to M, they'll ease into it. You barely see any blood in TR as it is. Adding more gore in it would just raise to normal standards of gore plus a tad bit extra. I think it'd be cool to see some exploding bodies though...

exploding bodies?and breaking necks and stomaches spilled everywhere????ooooook then so why dont u stop playing tr?just stop...there are so many action games to fulfil such eeeee..."judgemental thoughts"...... wishes that i dont see why you want to turn tr into a sawish game...tr is not about that imao although i would like to hear strong language and dialogues because that would be realistic and i would like some more vilonet and complicated combat moves and maybe some more blood but thats enough...all in all i would love to play a M rated tr that wouldnt overdo it with violence (lets say that assassins creed has the best amount of blood in it)

edit:OMG i would love a hot hentai scenario for the next tr....

I still fail to believ that as soon as someone says 'I would like more realistic violence' then people automatically assume we all want TR to be 'saw-ish' I was actually thinking along the lines of Assassin's creed. We want a mature rating but not an 18 rating, that would rule out too many fans. You can have more realistic violence without the game becoming Silent Hill!

I myself am thinking more along the lines of the death scenes. If Lara gets impaled I expect her to get impaled not miss the spikes, bounce through them and inexplicably die. If she falls from a great heigh i expect to hear bones crack and her collapse in a heap on the floor like she did in the classix not bounce around as if in a bouncy castle. If she runs through fire i expect her to catch alight not bounce off the flames as if they pushed her over! It just looks rediculous and these mechanics will give CD more platfoming challenges for the player like in classic games. I do not want to see lara pulling some merc brain out with an axe. There is a difference!

What the hell are you talking about?

You are judging me because I made a funny comment on how I wouldn't mind seeing exploding bodies in TR and there is a distinct lack of it, and yet you want to see ANIMATED SEX [[yes, I know what hentai is]] in TR? I'd rather the game become like Saw rather than some tittypopping love crap. Don't tell me to stop playing TR because I want to see more gore, and yet, you, being an obv. perv., want to see some big boobed Lara having a go with the mercenaries she encounters. All I said was exploding bodies, never said breaking necks and disembowelment. Don't put words in my mouth, be a hypocrite, and then judge me unless you can make a good point. I play TR because I've loved since I was little, and it has a good plot line. That doesn't, however, change the fact that I personally think that people not to stop being so sensitive about it and up the ante by adding a few things and making adjustments to TR and finally going for an M rating. No nudity and the game will be fine. No one ever said we wanted it to be like, say, Ninja Gaiden and have limbs and innards flying everywhere

LC is me: I agree with ya. If someone thinks that TR has too much violence, then don't play it.

In a response to a post by jayjay119, I'd be dissapointed if explicit language were in a Tomb Raider game. Legend had a good amount, I don't need to hear the f-bomb in TR.

Yes this is what I'm on too. The classic TR's deaths were so good you really didn't want to die. I heard bone cracking and I didn't want to do that again, Poor Lara. It added a nice element of really wnating to stay alive.

Lara is an archeologist, not some kind of porn-star (and it's pretty fake if she's gonna fight tigers in her bikini). So why don't keep it T-rated? I voted no, but i do like more blood and violent deaths.

Mature doesn't mean having sex in a game.

Why does everyone think that "mature" means we have to have explicit sexual themes and Lara naked?

Mature means you're old enough to understand and handle certain things which may be a bit inappropriate for younger audiences; not that we're old enough to look at all sorts of sexual themes so it must be compulsory in all mature games/media.

Yeah, it can be included; but it doesn't mean it has to be included; especially if it doesn't suit the game's plot or overall theme. Jill Valentine doesn't fight zombies in the nude in Resident Evil, so why do you all think Lara is going to be nude if TR's rating is raise to mature?

Most of you here have said that you would like more violence but have then said you wouldn't like TR to be mature rated, but how's that going to work? They've needed to remove all the realistic violence you want to see to secure the teen rating, they haven't made it "teen" so that Lara can stay fully clothed.

All the sexual thoughts are in your heads, not the developers...that's the worrying thing.

The logic that you and everyone else who has this same opinion confounds me.

You know what? I think that maybe you all just aren't ready enough to play ANY M rated game, let alone an M rated Tomb Raider, if all you can think of is sex sex sex naked sex sex Lara sex HENTAI [[of all things]] when someone says that it might have an M rating. Quit being so close minded and slow to understand that maturity in something is not defined by sex. Never has. If a fifteen year old can tell you that, than...

Should TR become M rated, well, we know who won't be playing, now don't we?

For me M rated Tomb Raider is a game that has deadly traps that give you creeps, realistic deaths that will make you jump, blood and horror elements (really scary enemies and monsters that you will be afraid of) Sexual themes aren't really necessary because sex is simply irrelevant to TR games.
Eric Lindstorm once said that Lara is sexy because she is not trying to be sexy. I agree with him completely.

I said i DON'T wanna see Lara naked, so if the only thing i can think of is sex, i would say the opposit.

Jill does fight zombies in (tight) latex-suit. If M-rated only means there is gonna be more violence and realistic deaths, ok, make it M-rated. I just wanna say that i don't like sex in a TR game.

omg do you even know what the word "sarcasm" means....?i bet u dont because the edit line was about the last choice of the pole nothing serious ...but anyway i would rather porn instead of blood explosions,i confess

Imagining Lara as a "Porn Star" didn't help your side of the argument.

There's wanting Lara to stay clothed, and then there's imagining Lara as a porn star; they give off two completely different images of your character...

Oh come on, someone is going a little overboard. Throughout the RE series Jill hasn't really worn anything too sexual, even in Regina's (from Dino Crisis) costume she still hasn't looked like a porn star.

Yeah, Lara and Jill look sexy but not in a explicit manner, you're kinda thinking too much about sexual themes in a game which doesn't really have a place for it; glad you understand that the "mature" rating is also meant for realistic violence though...

You could have added a (!) showing that you were being sarcastic.

And porn over explosions? In a Tomb Raider game? Seriously...

Sarcasm or not, you just admitted to wanting to have sex in the game in this post. Really exploding bodies is a cake walk compared to SEX.

So not only was the last post you made POINTLESS, but IRRELEVANT because you still prove me right and you've shown everyone that you are terrible at sarcasm. Compared to you, I"m a sarcasm queen, you just can't execute it properly.

    Try again, Sherlock.

    Ok so lets just recap and move on;

A/ We want an M-Rating to enable more mature content to enable a better, more realistic, playing and development experience. But this doesn't not include any profanity or sexual content.

B/ You can actually have an M-Rated game without sexual content, or profanity, or tons of gore these days depending on how strict countries ratings are.
It's been a long time since a came around, been a long time but I'm back in town.

    Smile

    Is M-Rating equivalent to 15, 16+ or 18+ rating?

Mature is 17+, there's also an "Adult Only" which is 18+.

I've just checked the esrb website to make sure...

    http://www.esrb.org/ratings/ratings_guide.jsp

    EDIT-

Also it seems that only the "Adult Only" rating allows nudity while "Mature" only allows a bit of sexual content (which would be in terms of references rather than all the things you guys have been worry about...).

It says in the adult only section, "Titles in this category may include prolonged scenes of intense violence and/or graphic sexual content and nudity.

    So it wouldn't really be a problem if TR was rated mature. ^.^;
