    Like so:

    So yup, nothing out-of-character whatsoever.

Just look at some of these other art samples.
It's not just the short hair, it's also the lack of curves (that they deliberately took out to make her less feminine "cuz we can't have SWMs ogling at her") or anything remotely feminine.

Look at this picture of redesigned Captain Marvel and tell me she doesn't look like a dude:

They don't call this iteration of Cap Marvel Carl Manvers for nothing. It was them fixing what ain't broke just to cater to holier-than-thou snowflakes who were never gonna buy or read their comics in the first place. I'm glad it blew up in their face.

Seriously, when will these SJWs stop ruining everything they can get their little grimy mitts on?

Speaking of Marvel-related stuff, what do you guys think of James Gunn being fired from GotG3 for his disgusting rape/pedophilia Tweets yesterday?

I'm kinda torn on this. On one hand, firing someone for Tweets made 7 years ago is ridiculous on the surface, but then again, he made 10k+ Tweets on the subject, making me believe they were more than just "jokes" about child rape. The guy needs serious help. I shudder to think what he's actually done.

Looks like Angry Joe has gotten himself into a bit of hot water after pissing all over fans of Battlefield.

I said it before and I'll say it again - Joe is such a hack. He's a shill for crappy game companies and industry practices that are anti-gamer. Really can't understand why anyone still likes this obnoxious and pompous guy.

To be fair, AJ was giving a list of possible reasons for BFV having severely underwhelming pre-order numbers besides the whole women controversy, and people immediately wrote it off as "SJW nonsense". In reality, it's a combination of things. EA as a whole aren't trusted right now after 3 major gaming debacles all in the same year last year (Mass Effect: Andromeda, Need for Speed: Payback and Star Wars: Battlefront II), especially the BFII controversy, so it stands to reason that one game without loot boxes isn't gonna win them back after the stigma from those games. Two, it's releasing in between Call of Duty and Red Dead Redemption 2. Patrick Soderlund insulting the fans by calling them uneducated and saying "if you don't like it, then don't buy it" didn't help, either. When your job is to promote and try to sell your game, you really can't afford to say stuff like that, especially a game that's already facing backlash, that's PR suicide.

Also, any objections people may have with women being in the game have more to do with having a woman with a prosthetic arm and a spiked baseball bat and a soldier with a katana in a WW2 setting than superficial "inclusivity" reasons. Sure, maybe there are some sexist s bashing the game just because it has women in it, but look at NieR Automata, Overwatch, Life is Strange, Assassins Creed: Odyssey, Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, etc., all games featuring women and none got anywhere near the kind of -flinging BFV got. Having a woman protagonist would be like item #5223 on the list of reasons for why someone wouldn't buy the game.

Peter Connelly announces Tomb Raider: The Dark Angel Symphony

2019 marks the 20th anniversary of composer Peter Connelly*s first work on the Tomb Raider* franchise. To celebrate this landmark event, Connelly is announcing today that he is launching a crowdfunding campaign (via Kickstarter) to produce a studio album featuring the music from Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation, Tomb Raider: Chronicles and, most excitingly of all, Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness. This campaign has been organised entirely by a dedicated group of die-hard Tomb Raider* fans and features world-class names within the music industry.

As I'm sure you guys are aware by now, John McCain passed away after a long battle with terminal brain cancer. This is very sad, especially since he died just four days before his 82nd birthday. There's many things I disagreed with him on politically, but he was a hero to the country and a class act, respected by both allies and opponents alike.

Thoughts are with him and his family.

McCain a "hero"? You've gotta be kidding me.

Since when do heroes commit TREASON?!

And a "class act"? That's gotta be a joke. Have you forgotten about this little gem?

Or McCain cheating on his wife?

    Or calling Trump supporters "crazies"?

    Or calling Vietnamese "gooks"?

Or being so spiteful as to ban a current US president from your own funeral?

Or calling his political opponents "S-holes", "A-holes", "F-ing jerks"?

What about him calling his own wife a "slut" and a "C---" for wearing "too much make-up"?

Oh and did he resign his position as senator when he got to know about his bad health? Of course not. That would not be in his personal and political interest, nevermind that it hurts the country to have a sitting senator with freaking BRAIN cancer.

Yeah, REAL class-act and a hero to the American public that McCain was

^^^ I actually find it interesting that a lot of what McCain's ideas/views were called "crazy" for when he was running for president years ago ("I'll build us a fence that keeps Mexico out of the U.S.!", for example) and lost because of is what seems to have been what got Trump elected. Strange.

Speaking of politics, EA done f'ed it up again in the PR department for BFV. Wait til you get a load of this: they actually censored the words "white man" and "DLC" in BFV, I kid you not:

Wow, they're not even trying to hide it, anymore, they really are pulling an SJW agenda with this game. As if they didn't already cause enough of a stir by claiming they "wanted to be on the right side of history" by including women in the game (one of which happens to be wielding a prosthetic arm and a cricket bat because that's totes historically accurate) and insulting the fans by calling them "uneducated" and "if you don't like it, then don't buy it", they go and pull this with already historically-low pre-orders on the game, seriously?

Man oh man, EA is committing PR suicide with this game, it's as if they told Koei Tecmo "hold my beer" after all the stupid the designer/director said to piss fans off regarding DOA6 all in an effort to appeal to non-gamer SJWs.

Because it worked so well for Marvel Comics and Hyper Universe:

Keep digging with that shovel, EA.

Oh, and I just got Spider-Man on PS4, game's awesome.

I came across this interesting video on the subject of strong female leads, comparing the Anjelina and Alicia portrayals of Lara Croft. And I pretty much agree with his assessment. But hey, see for yourself and how do you take the Hollywood concepts of strong, badass, and such?

Ugh, here we go again. Somebody on another forum linked me to a ResetERA thread crying about VC4. I thought I'd bite and read through the comments so no one else has to suffer through that God forsaken cesspool of a site.

Here's just some of the "highlights" from that thread (trigger warning in full effect):

ResetERA, or should I say RegressERA is toxic beyond words. They're the most oversensitive, fascist, insufferable snowflakes I've ever had the displeasure of reading comments from on the internet (oh wait, a lot of the old NeoGAF users migrated there after their owner was caught in a sexual assault scandal, go figure). They literally ban anyone who disagrees with them and their holier-than-thou hivemind echochamber mentality. "GAMING WAIFUS, ANIME TIDDAYS, REEEEEEE!!!!!" This is the same forum who had a user doxx a CD Projekt Red employee and tried to get him fired for making a harmless Twitter joke regarding Cyberpunk 2077. To add insult to injury, he only got a warning while anyone who defended the CDPR employee and/or said they still plan to get the game was banned on the spot.

    Eff those mentally-ill ingrates.

I just saw Venom on Friday, it was alright, but if they pull that PG-13 crap with the Carnage sequel, I'm gonna have a big problem. I'm actually dreading the idea of them making a Carnage movie because I know deep in my mind that it just might happen, this IS Sony we're talking about, which is bad news for everything that isn't gaming or original films. They were actually considering an Aunt May movie at one point FFS.

I just saw the new Halloween a couple weeks ago, I really enjoyed it. It was much better than the Rob Zombie Halloween movies and retconned sequels IMO, though I don't like that Michael and Laurie are no longer siblings in this, it kinda lessens the whole ordeal with Michael Myers. I must say: for a 70-year-old man, he can still take and give hits like a champ.

I also finished The Haunting of Hill House and S3 of DareDevil on Netflix and loved them both very much.

Like I said earlier, I also saw Venom and ended up enjoying it more than I thought I would, but it still wasn't great by any means. Despite this opinion, though, there's been a recent development that pretty much ruined whatever newfound hope I had for Sony's Spiderverse and I just threw up in my mouth a little reading about this (I'm sure you've heard the news by now): it turns out the sequel set to feature Carnage WILL, in fact, be PG-13.

Nope, you're not misreading the title of the article: they're seriously gonna make Carnage PG-13.

    Make Carnage PG-13.

    Carnage PG-13.

That's right, folks, Avi Arad, the guy who drove Spider-Man into the ground with 3 terrible movies in 7 years, forcing Marvel to strike a deal with Sony to repair poor Peter Parker's image in the MCU and watered down Venom now plans to ruin Carnage. It's as clear as the day is long that Sony has no reverence for these properties whatsoever and just wants to churn them out for a quick buck, first with making Morbius a vampire who doesn't bite (because they also plan to kiddify that with a PG-13), holding back Venom from being the dark, brooding, give no f's edgy character we all know he can be and now this. Seriously, he's the last character anyone should be making a kid's movie of (more on that in a second, though).

I especially "loved" this bit right here:

When you hear Carnage, the only thing you can think of is R. But, if you know his story, if you really know the comic, there is no R here.
Yup, Arad, no R here whatsoever:

    It gets better, though:

It's not about what he does, because we never have to show the knife going from here to there, and the blood is pouring. What you have to show is, what is the motivation? Was he born like that, or it's someone we should feel for, because if you are succeeding in making the villain someone you can feel for, jackpot.
Yeah, Arad, a guy who pushed his grandmother down the steps and killing her, drilled his mother's dog's brains out after trying to murder her by dropping a hair dryer in a bathtub and then goes on a massive killing spree, including burning down an orphanage before he finally puts on the red symbiote and starts massacring people in vomit-inducing ways just for fun after all that supposedly "not R" material, which includes him literally ripping their guts out and sawing them in half (!) and then throws a baby down a 5 story building is totally somebody we should feel sorry for and be aimed at your grandson.

LOL, nice try, but Carnage doesn't have a psychological component like the Joker does. Unlike the Joker, who's more concerned with causing mass chaos, Carnage literally just loves to hurt people in extremely gruesome ways (see above) and was a mass-murdering lunatic before bonding with an out-of-control alien substance, making him even more sick and twisted. How the hell does that warrant anything but an R rating? Seriously, effing read Maximum Carnage and tell me he belongs in a PG-13 movie:

At this point, I think it's clear who actually reads the comics and who doesn't. How the hell this guy still has a job after saying this is beyond me. What a tool.

Been playing RE2 Remake and Metro Exodus lately.

    RE2 Remake

Kinda shocked that I'm more impressed with RE2 than I thought I'd be, despite it having only 4 map levels and needing to retrace steps a lot. The graphics are pretty good and I'm finding on my 1080 SC I can push them to max at 1440p, even until estimated VRAM use is in the red. Like everyone says, this is true survival horror. Resources are so limited you really need to think about whether to use them or evade. This also means you need to remember the routes through the map well, and where you left nasty creatures. It can also mean you need to know what order to do things in to avoid unnecessary backtracking. Especially once you get to the point where the relentless Tyrant starts stomping around looking for you.

It's very likely, especially on Hardcore with less resources, you're going to have at least 2 Lickers left lurking about when you get to the point where you have to unleash Mr X. At that point you'd best know how to evade him without having to run anywhere near those sound sensitive beasts. On the surface, it's a relatively simpler game than RE4 with such few levels and creature types, yet it's so sophisticated in how it packs in the suspense and methods with which you can play it. I know many have said it would be pointless to remake RE4 since it already sells so well on so many platforms, but I'd be thrilled to see them do it with same varied level and creature design, but more survival horror like these older games had. Plus RE4 HD is really no more then Nintendo Cube level graphics. I feel a fresh, modern day look is in order. it would be a sort of re-imagining vs remake.

    Metro Exodus

Exodus on the other hand (and I LOVE the Metro series), has left me kinda disappointed so far. It's got WAY too many lengthy cutscenes, and missions feel too scripted. The meat of the game so far for me has been random exploring and scavenging. This seems to be a common thing when devs go from linear to sandbox. They spend so much time delvign into the open world concept they are inexperienced with, that the missions themselves become less elaborate. Maybe there's better stuff to come, I've only gotten to the "Ark" mission so far, and it seems that wasn't in fact the end of the game as they imply in the dialog where it's said it's the end of their journey. Things are going to have to get more sophisticated and challenging mission wise for me to stay interested though.

Graphics and performance wise, it can look pretty good when you get the sun or moon showing, and I supposed for those with RTX cards it looks great, but overall it's not anything that jumps out at me. In fact there are many times I can't help but think back to the older Metro titles that had realistic ammo looting where you only had the visual reference of the actual ammo, vs onscreen prompts, and bits of dust floating in the air catching your light in the darkness, and everything down to the laces on boots looking pristine. This one seems made more for Ray Tracing and DLSS than just overall good looking textures and shading.

This news definitely enlightened my day...

Marvel (reportedly) planning R-rated Blade movie with Wesley Snipes

I LOVED the first 2 Blade movies (3rd was "watchable", I guess), so reading that MARVEL is planning on making a new movie with Wesley Snipes, rated R (as it damn well should be) was music to my ears. Even at 56, I'll bet he can still open a can of whoop ass.

Deadpool is staying R at Disney as well once the Fox deal closes (which should be any day now).

Good to see them getting the adult treatment they deserve. They both need to be R, especially Deadpool, unless it's teaming up with Spider-Man or the Avengers/X-Men in the MCU.

    Also hyped for DMC5 tomorrow.

Just finished watching the Square Enix E3 press show; and saw Meagan Marie on stage, as the SE community manager. I remember when she left here over a year ago (maybe two?) to take that position with the MOBA developer (Not LOL or DOTA, can't bloody remember the name). When did she return here? I can't believe I missed that news, whenever it happened. But it's AWESOME to have Meagan back with us!! :Big Grin:

I'm sure you guys have heard about the latest Bethesda debacle, right?

For those of you who've been hiding under a rock the past couple of days, they locked Doom 1-3 behind a Bethesda.net account, requiring a second account from their client to play them on PSN and XBL. Of course, they claim it was an "accident", but then again, they also claim that them delisting and removing the games from people's XBLA accounts was a mistake, err, "glitch" as well, and stuff like that doesn't get coded in "by accident", so I don't buy that for one second. They didn't like the uproar and backpedaled, simple as.

Oh, and speaking of uproar, the memes have been rolling in, and they're effing hilarious. "A Bethesda.net account is required to view this tweet" ROTGDFLMMFAO! Funniest I've seen in a while!

Oh and it was great seeing Meagan (I call her Meags) back at the Avengers reveal.
