I watched the Star Citizen stream from GamesCom yesterday because I was bored and I needed something to cheer me up and boy did it not dissapoint.

Being 5 years in development and having appearantly raised 157 million they still have nothing but pure boredom. Their stream was a completely scripted which is not that uncommon I suppose but was completely cringeworthy when the game crashed and they had to spend more than 10 minutes speedrunning through all the steps to get to the same point. Mind you this presentation was supposed to showcase version 3.0 (alpha) to the backers of this thing. And the main thing they had to showcase was a webcam developed by a partner studio which allow you to have Face Over IP.

    https://www.polygon.com/2017/8/25/16...ion-3-1-update

That's even more stupid stuff added that's for the next release when their planned 3.0 release isn't nowhere ready to release. And why on earth would you want to have face over ip in an MMO type game where they can't even have more than 12 players in an instance. Sending all that extra traffic will cause no trouble at all.

    From the stream:

Summary from the stream, taken from SA:

    Hit detection is in:

From a couple weeks back from one of their shows, Roberts pet project Mocap, let's use mocap for a cafetaria scene:

I genuinely don't understand why there are people that keep throwing money at this, there's nothing there but empty promises, the project lead can't even play his own game (never forget ->
) has no charisma or whatever.

At least this show does one thing right, provide massive amount of schadenfreude but really what a colossal waste of money.

Can't wait for the post portems when they finally go bankrupt though.

To be clear I have no money in this thing and never have, I don't even care about space games I just kept seeing news posts on gaming sites, that it raised x amounts of millions and then you start following it a bit and it must be so embarrassing or maddening for actually talented devs, or indies who can't get that amount of money but could/would produce something a lot better.

Oh... that was cringe-worthy. I was vaguely interested in this game for its grandiose claims, but it seems they've barely delivered on any of it. No Man's Sky all over again - but with a much higher price tag.

But then, to be this guy who spent $22k on Star Citizen ships, only to see this mess in the end.

Looks like it to me, I mean all the writers have left and it looks that the only thing valve is doing these days is steam and small updates/fluff for their money making games CS and Dota instead of making games. Shame really.

I don't know really if you spend that much and are that invested I think you'll keep finding excuses or reasons to believe. Then again I have no idea how the mind of someone who gives that much for ships that aren't even in game yet for years works.

It's gotten a lot of attention among fans but is also attracting attention 'outside' too. It's not workable on my laptop, sadly. Had to resort to watching a video. It's very good, but suffers slightly from "LAU syndrome", which as Nicobass is using the LAU gameplay mechanics is hardly surprising.

It's a gorgeous game that Nicobass has expanded upon areas we're familiar with, additional areas, new puzzles and traps. Some cleverly hidden nooks and crannies. From what I can tell by just watching, the main path is kind of highlighted, with lighting mostly, but not overly obvious and not a splash of white paint to be seen. Which goes to show that obvious path markers aren't necessary. Though in fairness this game is made for classic fans in mind. And this is the first level which is fairly linear to begin with.

A couple of things I noticed is, there are a couple of times the next ledge was behind Lara, with the player having to blindly fling Lara backwards. Also, I notice that despite how lovely the graphics look, there still a couple of Underworld like corridors with those balance beams. The spiders are over powered. I'm nit-picking as this is work done by one person (other than music and VA work). For people looking for a modern classic feel to gameplay, then this certainly looks to be living up to expectations.

I can't comment on optimization, frame rate etc, nor how Lara feels, whether she's weightless, magnetism etc though the animations look polished.

I didn't mean for this to be a mini review! .

I really like what I am seeing from Nicobass's work. I think there is real potential in this. The graphics look good and it seems to really have that element of exploration that the reboot games lack.

Nicobass is going to make this out of passion but I think CD should try and cheaply buy this and put it out as a side Anniversary 2 tittle. Something akin to what SEGA did with Christian Whitehead and the game Sonic Mania. This would be a golden opportunity.

The gender war continues to produce utter stupidity all around the world. A cafe in Australia now charges 18% man tax. Yep, that's right, the totally bogus and widely debunked wage gap myth that is continuously touted by feminists, virtue signalling celebrities, and even the freaking president of the US, now has men paying more than women in this establishment.

Thanks, feminism, for this totally unnecessary (and probably illegal) discrimination against an entire gender based on nothing but BS propaganda.

Unlike the sentencing gap, which is very much a real thing and, surprise, surprise: benefits women. Case in point.

LMAO, 3 years for child rape and pornography? That sounds a little lenient. On no planet does she deserve to be tried as a youthful offender. The fact that she tried to trap this kid that she raped with child support after getting impregnated by him proves that she knew exactly what she was doing. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if both are granted to her, though. But of course the child porn is the part that deserves the most attention according to Mundane Matt!

Like I said, I don't usually have a problem with MM's vids, but this one infuriated me. Not a single ounce of sympathy shown for the minor who was preyed upon, taken advantage of and will most likely have his life ruined having to pay child support to this pedophile. Yes, it does happen, are these feminists going to bring that up?

Again, it was great to see so many people rip on him for the sexist double standard in the comments section and vid responses. As many a-user have pointed out to him, if this were a 19-year-old guy impregnating a 14-year-old girl and pornographically filming her, I guarantee you there wouldn't be two s given about his "sad upbringing", he'd be hollering "lock him up, chop his balls off," etc., etc.

Another mass shooting in the US. And the biggest one in US history to date. A guy opened fire on a crowd of concert goers from a Las Vegas hotel room window and killed at least 50 people. Police reported that he had a whole bunch of guns and heavy firearms stacked in his hotel room, enabling him to unleash this crazy carnage in the span of only a few minutes.

Christ on a stick, can we effing BAN these weapons already

Another E.A. studio bites the dust: Visceral Games is officially shutting down.

Well, there goes my dim hopes of a Dead Space 4. Look on the bright side, though: at least ex-employees CAN find new work now, unlike their Eastern counterpart.

But on a serious note, f*** E.A. Between this and killing off mass hype for Battlefront II with a BS loot crate system, my hatred for this POS company has kicked up a peg or two in recent weeks. I was like "take my money" @ the SWBF II E3 reveal, too.

My guess is BioWare will be next on the chipping block after the epic fail that was ME:A, better hope Anthem is a huge hit.

PS, is it wrong that I keep tuning into The Know simply for Ashley?

Late to the party but let's not slam post ^^ that applies to other developers and publishers than the ones on these forums as well. Thanks.

On another note, what games are you playing? I just finished the main storyline + pretty much all of the side quests of South Park the fractured But Whole. My thoughts are that the combat is much better than in the stick of truth but it remains the weak part of the game. Mostly the boss battles take too long, get boring/tedious and it is just stretching. Especially near the end you have a bit of battle after battle and it becomes boring. The fighting being turned based doesn't help, but I've always found that to be a stupid game design (turn based combat) south park gets away with it I guess because most of the time they take the piss out of it but as I said it's still the weakest part of the game.

Played it on pc with xbox one controller and played for around 21 hours.

Aside from that looking forward to Assassin's Creed Origins and Wolfenstein 2.

^I was echoing a TON of people's sentiments in light of this news, but fine.

On a side note, I'd love if SE picked up the Dead Space license and handed it off to CD and/or their other Western studio (Eidos Montreal) to work on a DS4. They DO have a working relationship under Square EA, their pre-SE merger, after all. Or Sega with Creative Assembly developing, I'd welcome that with open arms after the marvelous job they did with Alien: Isolation. They could actually make DS scary again (no pun intended).

I also just got The Evil Within 2 since you asked the question, loving it so far. I just had to get my hands on the game with Resi mastermind Shinji Mikami's involvement. I can tell you, from the first hour or so of playing it that the game does take a lot of inspiration from both Resident Evil and Silent Hill, and that's not necessarily a bad thing, either. The zombie-paranormal mix is done spectacularly-well, the multi-headed woman definitely had me on the edge of my seat. The open world exploration and crafting also leave a lot in the way of new features from the first game.

I definitely look forward to playing more, but please no ghost girls. Watching so many playthroughs of P.T. and Dead Silence (scariest movie I've ever had the displeasure of watching alone at night with no lights on) has made me sour on the concept, LOL.

Thanks for sharing, Evil Within doesn't look to be my kind of game though.

I'm currently playing Assassin's Creed: Origins and I'm really liking it so far. About 30 hours and looks like there are much more hours to spend. Really huge map, fun to play, nice setting. Not too much of the meta story about the current battle between templars and assassins so far. It also has quite some tombs and caves to explore and loot.

I am a big AC fan but am avoiding Origins, even though the allure of Egypt is strong! Still need to finish Syndicate and Unity, would like to start Black Flag and if I really need more I have a couple of other Xbox 360 AC games too that I havent touched!

Of those 3 I liked Unity the least, not because of technical issues as I only played 2 months ago but in order to get more health and armor or to unlock double assassination you had to earn sync points. You earn these either by finishing main missions that's ok or by playing co-op missions. I don't know how it was at the start but most of the time you can't find another player.

They changed it so you can also play them on your own but most of them are too hard to do on your own.

I only played a little bit of Unity, but the multiplayer aspect did put me off.

^ I managed to make it to 30 seconds

Was there a reason before to watch him? I don't follow anyone on youtube or watch commentary pieces there, am I getting old or don't care about other people's opinion or somesuch. Also must be because with text I find it easier to skip ahead an article.

To go back on Assassin's Creed Origins I think it had more tombs/caves than the last TR games. Not much in puzzles though if you are into that, just some counterweight stuff. But still pretty large underground areas in Pyramid too and under the Sfinx. It does a good job of portraying and living Egypt.

In real life news they discovered a previously unknown void/space in one of the Pyramids:

I assume this is the "emales Ruined Gaming For Those Who Don't Have Sex (Commentocracy)" video? (I cant see the embedded vid for some reason)

i dont necessarily agree with his opinions but find a lot of his videos entertaining. This is mildly entertaining.

Uh, you DO know video-embedding has been turned off and we can't see it, right?

But lemme guess, it's another one of his titilization-shaming videos, isn't it? Ugh, not this again. I agree with most of what he says, but Jesus tapdancing Christ, leave male gamers be or better yet, let's respect the whims of the developers instead of them having to cover up the tiniest bit of cleavage just to cater to a vocal minority who are never satisfied.

Also, anyone watch Season 2 of Stranger Things yet? I've been meaning to watch the latest season, but I've been caught up in so much that I haven't invested the time for it yet. I stayed up to watch the LP Hollywood Bowl show to honor Chester Bennington when it launched last Friday (it's GREAT that they did this BTW) and aside from that, I've been busy with work and so many new games on my docket, namely Mario Odyssey for the Switch, TEW2 and CoD WWII. I managed to catch the first episode and loved it, but that's it so far.

I thought that video of Jim's was quite funny, despite the intentional cringe factor.
How is this different to, I dunno, a guy who hides his face behind a medieval helmet?

Stranger Things 2 is awesome, Assassin's Creed Origins is awesome, Horizon Frozen Wilds is gonna be awesome.

For me it doesn't show a video thumbnail but it does show a "watch on youtube link" but in order to get that you need to have the following setting, it's under general settings in your profile.

I've shown it here, right in the middle with a red box, too lazy to make 2 images

I am having other images not showing up too like this, and quote edit button not showing underneath posts:

Regarding the Sterling video I should add that I have no idea who he is or context so am probably missing stuff.
