Cool idea for scoring points

Lightbulb Cool idea for scoring points

when ever a friendly ship is sunk little lifeboats emerge where ever the boat was sunk, the player can score more points buy sailing near and rescueing these sailors but the life boats will be slow and very weak so enemy ships and planes can easily kill them note:they will be like PT boats imune to torps as they are not deep enough in the water

BY some of the MP scores, it's obvious what people do for cool points. They get a friend they can use to take advantage of...so obvious.

same need to pick em up or else, but sometimes depending on the way in which they crahed and how it looked they may be dead before they touched down

The best way for pionts scoring is simply pionts for every hit as opposed to unit destroyed, ie if i get 12 hits with a fighter on a bomber but another player/wingman gets the last hit, i would still get the pionts for the hits i make. Even after what i thought have been good games after this i get no pionts and what i think are bad games i'll be top of the leaderboard! Strange

Shoot down every plane you can, even the ones that have already dropped their bombs or torps. You will get plenty of points that way. That is where most of the top leaderboard people get their points. The ones that didn't boost. They just play real defensive scenarios and sit back and shoot down all the enemy planes before they attack with ships.

yeah on MP i hear some ppl saying : "don't shoot the planes without bombs bhut the planes with bombs"

i agree bhut if you shoot a plane down it is lost and then you can outnumber them.in case of waiting , chase the planes without bombs : 1st : you get a lot of points. 2nd: the enemy is a lot faster outnumbered this way

    this is what i do

yeah i think this with the lifeboats would be good, but instead of points if you picked up the survivours it would speed up ship building process or something??

oh and oil slicks, and people jumping over board would be good

...maybe we can have P.O.W camps on shore, and get points by starving the prisoners to death.Geez....your kinda blood thirsty dude.

I dunno about you, but I wouldn't even bother with lifeboats. What would matter to me are the objectives and acquiring them. If they're there, they're there for visual decoration, not a gameplay element.

Perhaps a more practical approach to points would be dictating a point value to each plane, ship and sub, and awarding points based on when it sinks/is destroyed to each player that damaged it based on the amount actually done. i.e a cargo ship would be a total of X points, but if player 1 damaged it to 40% and player 2 damaged it to 60%, then player 2 would receive 60% of the total point value while player 1 would receive 20%. Planes would have something similar, but obviously be less in value.

No, youve taken what I said, added a feature that is to far, and blamed it on me. Not once did I meantion POW camps, I mearly suggested the possibility of a life boat feature.

By 20% do you mean 40%, or am I not reading between the lines. I think it is just a typo and therefore this post I am typing is a waste.

    Typo, sorry.

And ultimately points don't really matter. I think what matters more is the unit itself being put out of action.

Another thing I'd like to see are messages saying which ship was sunk. That way when I hear, "We're sinking! All hands abandon ship!", I won't have to wonder which ship it was.

And of course for mission critical ships they should have their own audio cues. Have someone announce in a semi-frantic voice, "The Yamato's been hit! It's going down!" or something like that.

Along the lines of voices, I'm kind of annoyed when pilots start screaming when they go down. As an aviation quotes database points out...

"The most frequent last words I have heard on cockpit voice-recorder tapes are, 'Oh @#$%,' said with about that much emotion. There's no panic, no scream, it's a sort of resignation: we've done everything we can, I can't think of anything else to do and this is it."

except when the fighter ( or bomber)pilot was trapped in his cockpit, through centrifical force, and the plane was on fire.I'm sure their were many many screams.

Not saying there wasn't. But at the same time, that's just you versus someone who work(ed) in the industry. I'm sure he's heard it all the time. Or maybe times have changed. I don't know.
