Thread: How would you rate Tomb Raider Legend?????

  1. #1

Thumbs Up How would you rate Tomb Raider Legend?????

Well the game already came out and some ppl aleady beat it and some didn't.
I completely love this Tomb Raider and Lara, it's the BEST series of all. Therefore, I decided to make a poll and see how would you guys rate it. The poll is from 1-10. For me it's 10 all the way. Let's hear from you!!! Hope everyone likes it. Well done to Eidos and Cristal Dynamics!!!!!!!

  2. #2
I say 9/10, I just wished it was slightly longer and wished I could run through the levels with lara in her bikini lol. The red tokyo dress is excellent anyhows, I think overall the controls are exactly how I want them to be now, all that is left for a next iteration I suppose it larger, less linear levels and more levels period. I'm still very happy with the game and find myself still playing it every once in a while, which means its a great game

  3. #3
I rated it very good. If it were longer and the combat was a little more refined it would've been perfect. However, it's a very good first effort by Crystal Dynamics and a great return to form for Lara Croft.

Here's to hoping TR8 kicks just as much booty.

  4. #4
I agree with you guys, I wish the game could've been little longer, but still it's just so good!! hehe The controls are awsome, and everything else just is the same way.

  5. #5
The length is just keeping it a little below a 10. I give it a 9!

there was already a poll done. You left out TO SHORT. Thats my vote
Graphics are great. I didnt like being forced to only go one way in the game. There were times I could have jump on something so easy but it would not let my unless I did it there way. For the 1st time playing this on hard was the easyest TR I have every done.

  7. #7
I gave it a 9/10! I literally LOVE legend - i can't get enough of it. But obviously it lacks in length so I couldn't give it a 10. I swear if they just added like 4 or 5 more levels as long as the Kazakhstan level (longest one) then it would've been perfect.

    Thumbs Up

The game is fantastic and they give Lara so much more character and depth. I cant wait for the next one. This one is so good I think I'll replay it from the start all over again after I get 100%

  9. #9
What does it means "terrific" for you? (to the author of the pole)

as i see, the answers are ordered from worst to the best, for that reason i don't understand the meaning of terrific in that place

PS If it means "excelent" i want to change my vote from "very good" to "terrific"

I like it a lot; vast improvement over AOD. I must admit though, sometime it feels as if it's been dumbed down in places. Can't put my finger on it but it's like somethings missing. Definitely a thumbs up though.

    1 out of 10

auto grab made it so you couldnt fall
there were no gators or any challenging animals
no levels like venice or the sphinx
the whole game babied you through it, telling you what to push or where to grapple
the annoying guys blabbering in your ear all the time
i could go on and on, i am going to buy TR2 and replay it to see what a real game is like, TRL was super short, super easy and will make a good coaster on the table..

As a Tomb Raider 'veteran' i voted 'bad'.
For a newcomer they would probably vote better.

    Why i voted 'bad'? :

Legend was too easy imho. Like someone (cant remember name) pointed out
we were treated like a bunch of kids.. For todays 14 year old generation that maybe
a good thing since they mostlikely havent played TR1-2-3-4-5.

For the 'die hard' Tomb Raider this game is just way too easy. Everything is
self-explanitory with hints, Lara 'looking' where to go, shiny objects.
The challenge is gone in Legend for us 'die hards'.

I bought Legend last week (holland). Initially while i was going on in the first
level it felt all right and played like a real Tomb Raider.
I remember Tomb Raider (1,2,3 primarily) and how they made a big impression
on me while playing it with my girlfriend & brother together on PlayStation.
Long enjoyable evenings running around trying to explore every square feet
and even trying impossible jumps 'just to get to that spot' where there might
be a ammo, gun or medpack pickup that we concidered 'we must get it' before
    we need it lol.

There were so many 'traps' in Tomb Raider 3 and you had to explore and take
your time to review the whole area before you recklessly run or jump for your
    destiny.
Where are the keys in Legend? Or the pieces of an artifact that can be put
together to form something you can use in a different area/map?

Legend its 'scare factor' is also far less impressive (if any at all). In previous
Tomb Raiders you would sometimes pee in your pants when out of no where around some
corner a creature makes a loud noise and runs towards you. You panic and
    start making mistakes lol.

I remember the crocodiles in Tomb Raider very well, i was always scared to go
in the water (in tomb raider, not real life lol) knowing there could be some
weird things chasing you while you are in panic trying to look for a place to
    surface and catch breath.
The piranha's so much freaked me out in TR3 lol

I must agree that the controls in Legend are far better than the ones
in AoD. Only a few things i dislike is the fact that Lara doesnt
do sideway flips anymore (only with guns equiped). What happened to
    sprinting :S ?
Also the fact that you can move forward with all the W/S/A/D keys depending
on the camera point of view is very annoying. Lara should simply 'rotate/turn around'
when using A and S (left / right) and not walk in that direction. Only the W (forward)
should be used to make Lara move in a direction and independent from the camera view.
    Forward should be forward ALWAYS.
If you are looking at Lara (seeing her face) you have to use S (backward) to walk
forward. This is highly annoying and disturbs the players 'feel for movement'.

The High Security Compound in Nevada was extremely nice. You had no
guns and had to use your brains to think out what to do to get where you
want to go while some cons are coming after you.

You can probably guess by reading this that TR3 is my favorite really :P

Legend is ok i guess if you are new to Tomb Raider but for alot of Tomb
Raider fans Legend just is not what it should be. Puzzling, scary in some parts,
mysterious, hidden pickups (or save crystals like in TR3 for PS).
I was slightly disappointed with Legend. It is just too easy in my opinion.
    Newcomers maybe not agree..

I think you hit the nail on the head; i mentioned it felt dumbed down in places and now i know why. You are guided way too much and are not allowed to try to reach that nook or that cranny. That takes away the fear because you know EXACTLY what you have got to do. I remember a certain bull, i think it was TR2; had my heart beating like a maniac; same with St Francis's Folly. I still think its good though.

You know what. I too agree with you, and kudos to you for having a well thought out argument without mentioning the L word (length). I'm also a fellow TR3 fanatic. Just can't understand why that game isn't everyones favourite. Oh well.

    This game sucked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Though this game is somewhat better than the last horrible game, Angel of Darkness, it is far from "legendary" when compared to the first four installments of this series. Eidos has left out many of the precedented features of the franchise only to be replaced with good graphics and cheap stunt scenes. If you ask me this game isn't by far worth the sixty dollars I spent on it or the short time it took me to beat the game. They replaced the whole series with a movie like quality. Among the things that annoy and disappoint me about this game are:

-The annoying voices of the people Lara works with (Who shouldn't even be in the game. The whole point of the game is that Lara is a one woman army.) The idea to put these annoyances in this game originated from the stupid movies.
-The music is flat-out retarded. I remember when in Tomb Raider one you only had music during either a part with a celestial quality, like when your looking upon the Sphinx in Egypt thinking how amazing it is but how scary the setting looks at the same time, or it had a suspenseful type of music when you where in a dangerous situation, like when you fought those crazy centaurs.
-Pretty much the only enemies on the game are people. Where are the mutants or the short cannibals or event the dinosaurs! People are very predictable AI (Shoot, hide, shoot again) and they lead to repetitive gameplay.
-The gun system is too universal. In every game now you can simply pick up your weapons from a dead corpse. I miss having to find the shotgun or M9. Along with that is the fact that there are no keys at all and you spend the whole game in cities or bases.

    Sound 3/10
-Too many scores that don't grab your attention.
    Graphics 10/10
-Can't argue with Xbox 360 in HD.
    Gameplay 5/10
-Not original enough for a Tomb Raider game.
    Replay Value: Moderately Low

Hopefully Eidos will come to realise that they lost their originality and should replay the old games to see where they screwed up. They sacrificed originality and very fun gameplay for good graphics.

Yeah I guess you're right, that would've been a better word. Well you get the idea anyway. I can't change the words in the poss or touch it at all. Sorry if I did something wrong!!!!

Midroth, the other pole was not a good pole at all. It was a bit comfused, and wasn't too acurate!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MMX1031 I completely disagree with you on the music. The music is very nice, I love it, it's legendary to the game. I don't know how else they could impress me. Well they can't make everyone like it!!!

  19. #19
    hi,

voted terrific, as very good didn't cover it. woudl give it a 9 and 1/2 out of 10 length just lets it down a tad, althohg to be fair its not a major concern for me, as TR1 is easily completable by any halfway decent gamer in under 10hrs. /and that along with resi 2 another shorter for many game, are two favorites.

music is excellent, levels, are almost perfect, zip and alistair allow Lara to show her emotions and charecter more, especially the banter with zip who is very much on her wave length with her sense of humour. She was as smart and as sassy as ever, but also emotive, and kind to her friends.

The moterbike sequences where great, the kazhakstan one especially fun.

That is what CD manged to bring back to the TR franchise, fun. TR4 was fin but goodness did it make it tough in places, TR3 propably the best of the lot in many ways, just gets a little dull once you've beaten the game, i just can;t find the enthusuasm to replay it, cause it is so meandering, to meandering in many ways.

TRL might have a few niggleing fault, but as a TR fan of old it is good to see Lara as i've always imagined her to be, in game which she deserves to be in again, one which holds a certian taste of TR2 to it, and TR2 is ultimatly my fav of the old TR games (not counting TR1 which is in a catagory of its own)

    well done CD

It would probably be a good idea to sticky 1 'Rate TRL' / 'Opinions on TRL'
and close all new created ones :P

Thumbs Up welcome to the future

I voted terrific... I loved the game, for me, he was of that more I liked to play for many reasons, such as since the history of the game, the sound (the music during the play game), the grafics the Lara and its abilities and all new gadgets and the Zip and the Alister between many other things... I loved the history, because the history had everything for the first time to not only see with the Lara and with one artefacto any... I Loved the sound and the music during the game, therefore they become the game atractiv and a good way to distract the player and to not.make of the game a monotony game so... The grafics were excellent, better so if they were as in the FarCry in max grafic quality.... I loved so the symbology and the technology that very resulted utility and interesting to the player I loved so the appearance of the Zip and the Alister, Therefore they make with that the game is more real and more fluid not so monotony and entretainig... I loved so the form of if making the game, therefore it makes of the game a mixing game... tombs and civilization... therefore nor everything what as important in the game is than in a tomb with 1000 years... But I don't liked it end, therefore much suspense in air left, many you doubt and many questions... I wait more that the Tomb Raider 8 on the basis of follows the history of the Tomb Raider Legend... and with the way of game based on the TRLegend, but best this clearly, and with more new features (gadgets) and more actions capacities for the Lara...

So one Note for the obsolete ones....

So that and that they buy grafic cards of 300 and 400 Euros with 256 and 512Mb of memory? to play games that play with 64 and 128Mb of memory? I think that not sinserely! I think that he is for playing games that all take off the income of the grafics cards... certain? after that why the people0 continues to compare the last (recent) games with the classics and to think about reemakes? they forget the past, live the future the past as passed nao more return... EVOLUTION!!! Mutants??? Dinossours? this still exists? Tomb Raider is a game that if can compare and approach to the reality where we live... Why to continue with things that not exist? the Tomb Raider 1, 2, 3, 4 Had been exelents games... but had been... if they want to come back to play this games, come back to play these games. I want here to evolution, in such a way graphically as of the history and animals, Men's and puzzels are enough....

I think it's alot better than TR: AOD. I'll definitely be trying to complete it 100% when I get it tomorrow (hopefully--depends on the circumstances).
