Gaming Mogul's Birthday Gift

(Manchester Evening News Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)RUSHOLME-born entrepreneur Ian Livingstone, the man who founded the software company that created computer game babe Lara Croft, was handed a late birthday present in the New Year Honours List.

Mr Livingstone, who was 56 on Thursday, was handed an OBE for services to the computer games industry. An ardent and lifelong Manchester City fan, Mr Livingstone is a former chairman and current product acquisition director of London-based Eidos Interactive.

Before moving into gaming he was a best-selling author of science-fiction and fantasy books. In 1999 Mr Livingstone, who attended Altrincham Grammar School, brokered a lucrative sponsorship deal between Manchester City for Eidos.
