    Other Napoleon era games

What other games look/are great for this era? The napoleonic mod for Medieval:TW is pretty fun, anyone try that? Cossacks 2 is based on the era as well, but doesn't look near as enjoyable as IG. What games do all of you play?

I never played a game from this era before, but I think it's a very interesting time period.
On your question "What games do all of you play" my answer is that I rarely play any other game than a Pyro Studios game. In every game they made there exists a great atmosphere (the music plays a big role in this factor) and hundreds of hours of fun. Other games I like as well are Call of Duty (best FPS war game in my opinion), Unreal Tournament (I like the original most), some Need for Speed and some Tony Hawk's pro skater games. I really enjoyed these games as well, because they have varied maps and objectives, which is important in a game not to make it boring.

ive played some rts games that have that era in them like Rise of Nations and Empires: DMW. normally what ill do for these is adjust the settings so that the highest epoch you can get to is the enlightment age(for RoN) or the Imperial Age(for EDMW). I also enjoy playing cossacks too.

    Other Napoleon era games

I play Age Of Sail II. It is an old game now, but still remains the best naval game from the Napoleonic Era. I find this era of the Age Of Sail the most captivating and interesting. I do very much hope that Pyro concentrates alot on the naval aspect of the game as well as the multiplayer. The game has promise, but I am worried about it coming up short on multiplayer and perhaps the sophistication of its naval model.

    i'm all about

I love all the command and conquer games, and my favorite games of all time are HL, Mafia, and Deus Ex. Lately, Call of Duty and Far Cry are quite fun.

They are two different games aswell, only comparison is the time period, more or less, since Cossacks 2 is mainly about the Napoleonic era and IG isn't.

IG has a max of 2000 units, Cossacks 2 will have 64.000 units and there are manny other differences between them.

I'm certain that for the negative parts wich Cossacks 2 will have, there will be tons and tons of positive aspects aswell and vice versa for Imperial Glory

And yes, I'm a big Cossacks fan

If you are in to a pure tactical Napoleonic game then I would recommend you to look at this coming game:

    http://www.histwar.com

There is no strategic aspect in this game but you can recreate almost all Napoleonic battles with the included editors apart from the 10 battles already included .

It doesn't really look very good "Link"

Kinda flat looking, don't know what else to think of it, who's developing it and when is it to be released?

    Hi there Joker.

If it looks flat it's because it's not finished yet. No shadow for the soldiers yet and and not visual effects like dust.

Did you look at the Screenshots in the English forum? Or did you look at the video trailer on the first page?

The game is developed by a small French team. The designer and programmer is JM Mathé. The release is unknown but best guess is Q1 2005.

The number of simultaneous soldiers are about 50 000 in true 3D and you will have officers, drummers, flag bearer and even sappeurs.

Like others have pointed out that the graphics here dont even compare to Imperial Glory, their models suck, graphics suck, animations are crappy but it might be a good game because im a strong believer that at times graphics dont be nothing compared to gameplay. Although in the video they have on their site (first post about troop movement), note what flag they use for their russians. It would be the same flag as discussed in this thread here

I admit the graphics are better in Imperial Glory even though their models are not perfect either. However I do like the surroundings and the ships.

A huge difference is the number of simultaneous soldiers. With 50 000 you would need a super computer in order to process that with the Imperial glory standard of graphics.
Considering that I think the Graphics in "Les Grognard" is good enough.

What I don't like about Imperial Glory is the simplifying of the uniforms like blue dragoons for instance just because all French have to be blue in the game. The same goes for British Artillery.
Another thing is the lack of officers.

As RnLSarge stated the graphics is not all though. Most important is the gameplay. If it's not fun to play the game what's the point of playing it at all?

Make no mistake, I love the Napoleonic age enough to get all three games: Les grognards, Imperial Glory and Cossacks 2.

It's to bad only that they will ship roughly at the same time.

I've been playing Napoleonic Total War for a while. I have to say, it is a fantastic mod; better, in my opinion, than either the original Medieval game or even Rome (which honestly I just dont enjoy that much.)

    You can download it from

    http://www.thelordz.co.uk/Lordzsite/index.php?_b3k

Also, you can check out the Grenadier Guards clan at www.ntwgg.com

I highly recommend the Napoleonic mod for anyone who has an interest in this era of warfare. The Lordz did a fantastic job with it.

I too am a big Cossacks fan and I am eagerly anticipating Cossacks II. IG definitely has the graphical side I'm just worried that its going to be devoid of strategy and become yet another point and win game. Sadly even the TW series is going that way.
There are few games focussing on the Napoleonic period really, most games ie.Empire Earth, Empires and RoN only scratch the surface of the period yet after longing so long for a proper game Ithik we are going to have a huge ammount of good ones all at once!

    The LordZ

    Hello,

    Let us try this one:

    http://www.thelordz.co.uk/Lordzsite/index.php?_b3k

    Hope that works for everyone.

I just want to add that IG looks pretty darned good from what I can see and NTW totally rocks particularly in the MP arena.

I can hardly wait for NTW II a mod of RTW that is in the works right now!

    Cheers and Salute!
