    The possession of Janos

Aside for the fairly obvious "it just looks really, really cool" answer, can anyone tell me why Janos is all golden and cracked looking when possessed by the HL?

was it from the destruction of the pillars? or the possession itself?

I think it was from the possession itself. I think one of the Q&A's said that the Hylden could possess people in varying degrees from influencing (like with Mortanius at the beginning) to outright remaking the body (like with Mortanius at the end of Blood Omen when he turned into that monster). Janos doesn't change appearance immediately after the Pillars are destroyed. It happens after he starts talking to himself. I think that Hash knew Janos was strong enough to not die from a little remaking and Hash thought he looked cooler that way

Nothing says "evil possession by powerful demon" like a little bling bling.

Hasn't anyone thought that maybe simply the explosion of the Pillars burned his feathers into that color?

Nope I didn't, Cos in BO2 Janos isn't Golden then, So it must be the possession that does it.

It might just be the amount of power that Hash had to use to subdue Janos' mind. He still didn't have perfect control.

Plus, it is a good visual clue that Janos is possessed. It's not that subtle green glow that Raz was sporting.

Raziel wasn't actually possessed. He was merely "influenced" -- the Hylden were externally manipulating his emotions. Making Janos' changes that extreme compared to Raziel's shows how much stronger the hold is over Janos.

EDIT: Rereading the previous post, I think I just repeated it. Oh well, further support

It's definetely not from the fragments of the Pillars because if u look back at the cutscene you'll find that after the destruction u see Janos looking with not even the least damage but then the camrea goes to Raz and aftr it returns to Janos he's possessed and all wounded...

I think it was when the pillars collasped. He looked like he was burned up pretty badly.

or maybe his role as the guardian of the Reaver is more labrynthian than first assumed, it is possible that he is linked to the pillars through his guardianship of the Reaver... didn't make alot of sense, even to me... meh, whatever

Its the Possession it self because the full possession corrupts the body like Janos did with golden cracks and green eyes. They can possess temporarily but not damage the body.

Loard, welcome to the board. However, please do not bump old threads unless you have something truly new to add. You're engaging in a conversation that basically ended in 2004 which was already answered as best as could be.
