    Places To Preorder and What You Get

    I figured if it was OK we can use this thread for people who have found places you can preorder the game and any kind of special versions.

    Right now, I've seen amazon pre selling the game with a steelbook version. From what I read it says you get some art cards with it.

    I've never really had any steelbook versions of any games. I was thinking about preordering the game only for a special version but not sure if the steelbook version is worth it.

    Well I pre-ordered my version from Game.co.uk (they oddly had the game cheaper than Amazon)
    I got the Croft Edition, with the Game exclusive pre-order bonus (no idea what it is though) it comes with the Steelbook, Season pass and 2 day early access.
    I was going to get the CE, but I still can't see it on the SE store and apparently it's like £200, which basically means I'd be paying £120 for a statue, torch and bottle opener...
    (Also I had reward points, so I got the game even cheaper)

    I just saw it displayed on the PSN store today.

    Now I'm thinking to get three copies of the game -- all Croft editions -- one digital, two physical.

    We are trimmed down to 4 more months !!!!!!!!!!! Yes !!!!!!

    Amazon now has the Croft Edition Steelbook. I kind of like the Ultimate Edition one just for the statue. I don't know if amazon will get that one or not. I don't necessarily care about the extra side missions so I'm not sure which one to get. I'm confused, because for the Croft Edition amazon says you get 7 outfits, 7 weapons, etc but amazon says you get 3.

    Edit: Nevermind it says 3 additional.

    I preordered the Croft edition on amazon just now. I feel like $200 is too much to pay for the Ultimate Edition. It seems both the Croft edition and the Ultimate edition have the same stuff, but the only difference is the Ultimate edition has the ax bottle opener, the flashlight, and the statue. I don't have any TR statues and I would like to get this one but I don't really care about the other things (the ax and the flashlight) so it would be a waste of $200 in my opinion.

    For the 48 Early Access, do those who pre-order the retail version (in my case the Ultimate Edition) get their game shipped early?

    Excellent question ! That's my question and concern, too, now.

    I have decided to purchase one digital and two physical versions.

    Hopefully there will be a compiled FAQ thread, but in the meantime, I hope this question gets answered for all customers too.

    To reiterate what megabug7 has said ~

    Since Square(?) has done this strange [ my word, not theirs ] 48-hour early access for pre-ordering customers, does that mean those shipments will definitely be available in retail stores ?

    Why do I say it's strange ? Because there probably could be issues such as game shortages....... ?
    Unless a vast amount of games get manufactured.

    Maybe I'm mistaken, but I've never seen other game companies do something similar to this...

    Digital versions would obviously not be a problem since those only need to be unlocked.

    To those knowledgeable ~ Please answer this question. Thank you in advance !

    Amazon says for the Croft and the Ultimate Edition you get 48-hour access. I would imagine if you preordered in other places like Game Stop or Walmart or something you'd get the same thing.

    Well, I'm getting the Ultimate Edition proxy-shipped via comGateway so I can basically say goodbye to my early access

    Generally yes, that's the idea. Most stores will have them days or even weeks before launch. My local EBGames had TR2013 four days before launch and I got it 2 days early. They wouldn't let me have Rise early though hehe

    Possibly, but very unlikely. The pre-order list would be enough to tell them how much to ship at a minimum. The Ultimate Ed. count is probably already known and controlled, so there's no issue there.

    Maybe I'm mistaken, but I've never seen other game companies do something similar to this...
    Star Wars BF2, The Crew 2, FIFA... it does happen.

    I preordered mine from the Square Enix EU store so hopefully they will ship early

    I see that the Ultimate Edition has now a waiting list - glad I was able to secure one

    Green Man Gaming has 22 % off for pre purchase on all editions at the moment:

    https://www.greenmangaming.com/games...omb-raider-pc/

    This is for a steam copy

    I can also recommend https://isthereanydeal.com to keep track on price drops for games. Just add the game, set at which percentage of discount it should notify you and done.

    I don't know how it has been for others but the times I have preloaded a game and then had to unlock/decrypt it on release day that actually took longer than just downloading the game on release day.

    for me, unlocking it took far less time than downloading. now i do have a much faster connection than what i had when rise was released but unlocking took only a minute or two for the game to be playable. not that it matters, because even when you buy now a game on steam, it still needs to unpack the files and get it ready for playing, which again takes time. i had only a game or two that needed a while to be playable but still was faster than downloading.

    Had to cancel my Ultimate pre-order, it was just too much

    Will probably go the Croft edition, but I just have to decide where from...

    So... I was going to obtain 3 copies of the game originally, 2 physical and a digital version.

    Then, I thought about it more and realized that was too much and decided to get 2 copies instead.
    One physical and one digital, both Croft Editions.

    And I pre-ordered the digital version just a few days ago. I'm going to pre-order the physical copy one week before release.

    ~~~~~
    I apologize that this is a bit off-topic but I became curious and I really meant to ask about this months ago to anyone who is knowledgeable in computer software. So to anyone who is, please reply because I really would like an answer. Thank you.
    By the way, these may sound like silly questions.
    Here it is ~
    If I were to have both the digital and physical versions of the same game in one console, and have a Save file from the digital version, but no Save file from the physical game, and start the game using the disc, would the console use the digital version's Save file ?
    Or would it actually be able to differentiate that the digital version Save file does not belong to the physical ?
    In other words, do Save files of the same game have something in them, like signatures or coding, to tell them apart ?
    ^ I'm pretty sure it would just recognise it as the same game.
    Unless there was something to distinguish them (as you suggested). For example Batman: Arkham Asylum on Xbox 360 can be bought and played as 2 versions; standard and deluxe (the deluxe DLCs came on the disc, which was the distinction).
    Most games these days don't have anything additional on the disc, just separate codes for you to use to get the DLC, so it's likely that it would just use the same save file. I'm curious to know if not though...
    In other news, only 10 days!!!
    My Nan recently broke her shoulder in 3 places, so I'm hoping I actually get a chance to play it
    Has anyone seen the season pass sold separately? Regular edition is now $69 here, so paying for a season pass that is effectively $75 does not sit well with me.
    Sorry about your nan, ABH. Sounds rough.
    ^I haven't seen the season pass separately, no...
    I just pre-ordered my copy of the game. I ended up settling for the Standard Edition. I'll probably regret it later, but as it stands, it was too big of a gamble to go for the Croft Edition without further information on the DLCs.
    The store I pre-ordered from has a 15% discount on all pre-orders, so I ended up saving around 10 euros. And as a pre-order bonus I get this for free:
    PS: Best wishes for your nan, ABH. May she have a speedy recovery.
    dark7angel ~
    Do not take this the wrong way, but did you not read the Content spoiler boxes in the replies above yours ?
    Generally, it includes tombs, weapons, outfits, and skills among a few other things. But, depending on where you specifically reside and purchase from, it could be slightly different.
    I'm very much aware that the DLCs will be 7 tombs+weapons+outfits+skills combos. What I meant when I said I needed more information, I was referring to what Daniel Bisson (I think) said on Gamescom - that 5 of the DLCs will be co-op. And he didn't elaborate any further. After learning that, I was left wondering if he meant optional or mandatory co-op. I think it's likely it will be optional, but I'm not comfortable paying nearly 100 euros without being 100% sure. I was already struggling to justify that price for a game, this just helped me make up my mind.
