    [08-09-2016] PC Patch notes for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Patch build 545.4

    We have just released another PC patch for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, v1.4 build 545.4_P5. This patch focusses on critical issues that were reported by users during the last weeks after release.

    This patch will be applied by Steam automatically when you next start the game. If your game does not update, please restart the Steam client.

    The following fixes are in this patch:

    - Fixed a freeze that happened for some players during the subway loading scene.
    - Fix for issue where massive stalls would occur in Prague.
    - Fixed issue where players could no longer save when they ran out of Steam Cloud space.
    When the player runs out of space, the oldest saves will now be removed from the Steam Cloud.
    They will NOT be deleted and are still available from disk. They will remain present in your in-game ‘load game’ list.
    - Improved shadow behaviour in the distance when Contact Hardening Shadows is turned on.
    - Fixed issue where tutorial messages could stay/re-appear on-screen after completing the tutorial.
    - Fixed an issue where players could lose input control when hacking certain computers.
    - Fixed various UI issues.

    Release of DirectX 12 support in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided:

    As of today, users are also able to utilize the awaited DirectX 12 Graphics API. To activate this you are required to do the following:

    - Within your Steam Library, right-click on Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.
    - Select ‘properties’ from the context menu and navigate to the Beta tab.
    - From the dropdown menu, select dx12_preview then close the window.

    After the game has downloaded the DirectX 12 supported build you can then toggle DirectX 12 from either the launcher window or from the Display options within the game.
    Note that DirectX 12 requires a restart of the game if (de-)activated from within a running Deus Ex: Mankind Divided game session.

    o WARNING: Using the DirectX 12 API can offer better performance on some systems, however, it will not be beneficial on all.
    o Multi-GPU is not yet supported in this patch.
    o If you encounter problems with DirectX 12, we recommend turning it off again. There are no visual or gameplay differences between the two DirectX versions.
    o As always, make sure that your drivers are up to date.

    Known DirectX 12 issue:
    - There is a known bug that causes some very high end cards to regress relative to DirectX 11. This bug is being addressed by the development team.

    While we expect this patch to be an improvement for everyone, if you do have trouble with this patch and prefer to stay on older versions, we have made a Beta available on Steam, v1.0_build524.6, v1.0_build524.7, v1.1_build524.10, v1.2_build524.15 and v1.3_build524.17 that can be used to switch back to previous versions.

    We will keep monitoring for feedback and will release further patches as it seems required. We always welcome your feedback!

    Steam Controller camera stuttering problem still there.
    Ingame mouse sensitivity slider doesnt affect steam controller at all, so we are forced to use hardware sensitivity slider in SC configuraton menu, which is already all the way down ("for smoothest results, lowering in-game sensitivity while raising hardware sensitivity will provide the game with more precision to work with").

    Other SC users also have reported this issue on reddit.

    "I can confirm this behavior as well. The sensitivity is locked to a very high, unchangeable value while the Steam Controller is connected, and does not respect the mouse sensitives at all."

    "Just want to report that I've noticed this as well. I'm worried that this bug will be overlooked because the latest 524.10 patch "fixed" mouse acceleration, but by extending the range of the slider(s)—which do not apply to the Steam Controller. Mouse acceleration is still being forced in-game for the Steam controller, with its sensitivity range still out of whack and with no way to decouple hardware sensitivity from software sensitivity.
    If other Steam Controller users are having problems with their camera controls stair-stepping or juddering, can we get some more replies to this thread and potentially get the devs to file a bug?"

    "Since the mouse sensitivity patch came out today (Aug. 26th) I figured I'd mention that the mouse sensitivity settings still have no effect on the steam controller.
    The default sensitivity assigned to the controller by DXMD before the BPM overlay sensitivity takes effect is still ridiculously high requiring the controller sensitivity to be turned almost to zero in order to be playable. I'm hoping the DX12 patch adds some more tuning for that problem, and the RMB bug (RMB is semi-broken while the SC is turned on)."

    "I didn't actually realise that in-game sensitivity settings did not affect the controller at all until this patch - I thought this was new.
    In any case, it looks like the game has a dedicated "Steam Controller mode" that takes over when it detects that SC is switched on. You can run the game with it off and everything is working fine, but once you switch it on the game toggles. There are some UI (and UI control) changes, the sensitivity thing and the messed up right-click. It affects the mouse itself, so it would have the same sensitivity and "stuttering" issues as the SC
    Thankfully, if you turn the controller off it all immediately goes back to normal."

    "Mouse definitely doesn't feel smooth. I don't think it's due to xinput/mouse switching. When I slowly pan the camera (without touching any other controls) it looks as if it goes in small "steps" instead of a smooth continuous motion.
    I think (hope) that this is connected to the mouse sensitivity/acceleration issues the game seems to have at the moment and will get fixed soon. Otherwise it makes it feel as if frame rate is low even if it is locked at 60."

    "It's "stair stepping" because the pad/gyro sensitivity (essentially pad/gyro DPI) is turned all the way down and the in-game mouse sensitivity doesn't affect the SC properly and/or scale the way it should.
    If the mouse sensitivity scaling worked properly you could simply turn the in-game mouse sensitivity almost to 0 and then crank the SC sensitivity to near max and get nice smooth mouse movement."

    There isn't much to do about it unfortunately, since at the moment you don't have any other option other than turning sensitivity way down."

    Still missing objects and dissapearing walls. You know, I'm kinda loosing my hopes here. It's been more then 2 weeks and I'm still not able to play this game.

    We've searched but couldn't find any earlier posts linking you to any Dxdiag and game log files, can you link them here just to be sure? We will need:
    - DXdiag file.
    - Game log file.
    - A savegame file if you have one which loads into the issue.

    I've reported quite a lot of UI and related bugs - including some quite serious ones - in the past couple of days; none of them seems to be fixed... Here are a couple:

    - Keybindings interfering with each other: dragging bodies (holding 'E') and checking out the just updated objectives/picked up pocket secretary/whatever else new notification (also holding 'E')! There are objectives where this gets really annoying.
    - Objectives/History: can't select old missions with mouse.
    - When clicking a terminal button (for example unlock safe) Jensen draws gun.
    - Quickload doesn't work during death/takedown/icarus landing/etc. animations.
    - Scrolling the description doesn't work with some items: for example examine Wine in your inventory and use the mouse wheel to zoom/unzoom and scroll description; now press back and examine again; you won't be able to scroll the description.
    - When on augmentation screen the explanation text cannot be scrolled with wheel, only when you hover the text, but since the mouse cursor also selects the augmentation, you can only check the texts belonging to the last ones on the right.
    - Credits (the money) don't get updated when trading: buy an item and look at your credits. Now switch to sell and look at your credits again. It will show the amount before the buy.
    - House A.I. chat buttons remain on screen when changing to other terminal tabs.
    - "Return" button not doing anything in the House A.I. chat of Cassian Valente's home.
    - various UI issues; these are possibly related:
    a. At some(?) dialogs the right sided choice has some areas (more or less the bottom half) where hovering the mouse isn't detected. Clicking the mouse button at such places results the LEFT sided option being chosen.
    b. Not the mouse hovered option is highlighted: this can happen at almost any UI in the game. What happens in my example: I click on "Graphics", the game switches to "Graphics options" but the highlight is on "Preset", although I'm hovering "Texture quality", I press ESC and while I'm hovering "Display"the highlight remains on "Graphics".
    c. A pretty similar case than the previous one: I hover "Pistol Regular Ammo", I scroll up and click on "Combat Rifle EMP Ammo", yet the game wants me to buy the pistol ammo (check the price and highlighted item).
    - There is an elevator near the beginning of the game which is supposed to take you to Singh and the Heli, but the elevator buttons aren't working because the "hitboxes" are under the buttons. I'm using 1680x1050 exclusive fullscreen but I've also tried this in smaller resolutions but the results were the same:
    EDIT: I've also seen a streamer having the very same issue.
    - Infolink's black rectangle background missing; probably because it's a loaded autosave where the infolink was already opened. This specific autosave happened right after the end of M11.
    EDIT: I just tested it, it's definitely caused by loading a saved game that has an already opened infolink.
    - inventory: can't click items near popup menu:

    I am experiencing constant crashes to desktop when approaching Jensen's apartment to complete story mission M14. The URL below is a link that contains a .zip file with my DxDiag, msinfo, 3 savegame files, and 3 minidump logs.

    I have just reached Mission 14 and can't progress any further after entering Dvali Territory. The map is incomplete and surrounded in open space to fall through, resulting in death. I've tried reloading the save point multiple times, the auto-save multiple times, exiting and restarting game. I'm not sure if this game breaking bug was introduced via the latest patch as I had not reached this point up until now.

    Here are a few pictures showing the problem.


    I managed to get this area of the map to load up properly. I had to load up an older save. An inconvenience having to replay through part of the game to get up till this area again.

    I'm getting really bad performance because of a CPU bottleneck. My specs are an i7-4770k, Titan X (Pascal), 16 GB of RAM.

    Hi all,
    I've recently started playing Deus Ex: Mankind Divided on the PS4 and its great of course; just one problem though, the game keeps crashing in the damn loading screen!!!!!!! I haven't played the game in a few days (maybe about 4), and I've got no idea what causes this. I was at the GARM facility, but luckily I made an earlier save file earlier where you make a big choice (won't spoil it for those who don't know) and that doesn't crash in the loading screen (thank god for that!!!!!). Also starting a new game doesn't crash in its loading screen. I'm not sure about subway train loading screens because I haven't tried them yet. I'm talking about the loading screens when you press 'continue' or accessing saves from the 'load' menu. This is really annoying, hopefully it gets fixed soon because I'd rather pick up where I left off at GARM.

    Has anyone else experienced problems like mine? Is there a fix coming that anyone knows about?
