[03-01-2016] PC Patch notes for patch 1.0.629.3 (Patch #4)

UPDATE: The patch is now also available on the Windows 10 Store! (As of 03-04-2016)

We have just released the fourth PC patch for Rise of the Tomb Raider, build 1.0.629.3. This patch focuses primarily on adding stereoscopic 3D rendering. We know it was a favorite feature for many of our players on the previous Tomb Raider and based on your feedback we are bringing this to you now in Lara’s latest adventure.

This patch will be applied by Steam and the Windows 10 Store automatically when you next start the game. If your game does not update, please restart the respective Steam or Windows 10 Store client.

    - Stereoscopic 3D rendering support added.
    - Supports explicit side-by-side rendering for 3D TVs.
    - Supports NVIDIA 3DVision or AMD HD3D (On Steam version).
    - Supports Windows DXGI 1.2 Stereo 3D (On Windows Store version).

    - Addressed some problems when the display DPI was not set to 100%, including not being able to select all resolutions.
    - Added some logic to retroactively grant achievements in cases where Steam failed to grant them shortly after release.
    - A variety of other smaller optimizations, bug-fixes, and tweaks.

While we expect this patch to be an improvement for everyone, if you do have trouble with this patch and prefer to stay on the old version we made a Beta available on Steam, Build 623.2, which can be used to switch back to the previous version.

We will keep monitoring for feedback and will release further patches as it seems required. We always welcome your feedback!

    Windows Store?

We will update this thread when the Windows Store version is live.

You are the best! Tomb Raider 2013 was one of the best stereo 3D titles in history. I appreciate your hard effort.

    New features = new bugs!

You should resolve all bugs before!

With the new patch and 3D Vision, I get a black screen whenever I enable 3D vision Surround in any surround resolution. It works if I keep the resolution at or lower than 1920 X 1080. I have had other Nvidia 3D Surround games report the same issue.

Have anyone tried playing with the new 362 Nvidia Drivers? Is it worth the update?

Ambient Occlusion is broken in this patch! The shadowing around objects is flickering, sort of, when moving camera. HBAO+ works fine, but I don't like it. I like to play with AO set to "On". Backed out to 623 build - AO is fine there.
Or should I update to 362 drivers?
Does anyone else have this problem?

Update has arrived at Windows Store (1.629.3.0)

this patch apparantly does not retroactively grant achievements missing on Windows store version

I have just downloaded the latest patch for the windows store version of the game (Windows 10), and now have Stereoscopic 3D options in the menu. My monitor is a Acer XB270H. When I enable DXGI Stereoscopic 3D, no matter what refresh rate my desktop is set to, it changes the refresh rate to 144 Hz, and my monitor only supports 3D at 120 Hz. Please look into what is going on here, as I have eagerly awaited S3D, and played the last game almost entirely in this manner. My gpu is an Nvidia GTX980 and I'm on driver version 362. If you need any more information, please let me know.

Just tested SBS 3D mode on the Windows Store version.

Mouse is unusable for selecting menu and camp items as cursor position is not being mapped correctly to screen. Guessing once again this is UWP interfering with how the game should work.

As the flagship title for Microsoft's attempt to re-enter the PC gaming market I hope you have a close communication with them and making gamers concerns heard loud and clear.

Microsoft need to implement an option for exclusive fullscreen for UWP games.

Here's the video showing the Ambient Occlusion flickering when set to "On".
This happens in other places too.
As I said in my previous post this bug came with 629 update. No problems in previous versions.
Captured with latest 362 drivers, but happens on 361.75 too.
The quality of the video is not good but you can still see it if you watch in 720p.
Couldn't capture it in higher quality because the upload will take ages and many tries with my unstable DSL internet.
In the game in 1080p it's very noticeable and annoying.
    Please fix this!

We're sorry to hear you are having this problem. It has been passed on the the development team for a future fix. For now we can recommend turning on 'Motion Blur', this fixes the problem with the AO.

I always play with Motion Blur turned "On", so it's not the solution. I have tried to turn "Off" different settings and anti aliasing - it doesn't help.

Hi everyone. PC version. Downloaded all the patches (Steam), but have met a problem in the Abandoned Mines. Lara crawled through the small gap, shot three soldiers, tried to activate the lift. Now she needs to move a mine cart to the wall. So the problem is that Lara can't take her hands off this cart. She can move it but her hands are like glued to it. I tried to restart different checkpoints, to restart a game, to change graphics settings, to press different buttons. Nothing helped.
I can't go further because of this bug. Wasted money? I haven't found anything about this bug on the Internet. What should i do?

I thought you had a good rig. What are you using Motion Blur for? that's a technology used to make low FPS look better.

I didn't have this issue. Did you press 'C'?

I always use Motion Blur because I like this effect. It looks awesome at 60 FPS too.

    My rig:
    Win7
    GTX 770 4GB
    Core i7 3770K
    RAM 16 GB
    No OC
    Playing at 1080p 60 Hz

My FPS mostly 35-55 with these settings:
    Fullscreen - On
    Exclusive Fullscreen - Off
    Refresh Rate - 60 Hz
    Anti-Aliasing - SMAA
    Vsync - Triple Buffer

    Texture Quality - High
    Anisotropic Filter - 8x
    Shadow Quality - Very High
Sun Soft Shadows - Very High
    Ambient Occlusion - On
Depth of Field - Very High
    Level of Detail - High
    Tessellation - Off
    Screen Space Reflections - On
Specular Reflection Quality - Very High
    Dynamic Foliage - Medium
    Bloom - On
    Vignette Blur - On
    Motion Blur - On
    PureHair - Very High
    Lens Flares - On
    Screen Effects - On
    Film Grain - On

I get occasional 30 FPS dips during heavy gameplay scenes. In some cutscens I get 25 FPS dips.
Only in some interiors, caves and when Lara looks at the sky I get smooth 60 FPS.

Nixxes, I still get occasional crashes with 364.47 driver and the latest patch without downclocking.
I wanna fully enjoy the Endurance mode without downclocking my videocard!
Because I paid for factory overclock after all, and now your game requires me to downclock it to play it without crashes.
    This is ridiculous!
Can you fix the problem with factory overclocked cards in the next patch?
