Thread: Has there been any response from IO regarding the bad scripting in the game?

  1. #1

Question Has there been any response from IO regarding the bad scripting in the game?

The response to the badly designed scripting in the beta has been overwhelmingly negative on every forum I've been on.

Not a single person has defended the scripted triggers in the game, and the idea that these are going to be in the full game is a deal breaker for me.

Have IO posted about this anywhere? Are they even considering listening to the feedback?

I'm crossing my fingers and hoping that the silence means they're hard at work - the only thing post-beta that IO released was info on the live component:

No nothing at all but still share this information literally everywhere from Steam Discussions to Hitman Twitter or Facebook pages. We must at least get the confirmation that IO has heard us

There have been so many posts and complaints about this problem, it would impossible for them not to see it. This problem is as bad as the busted disguise system in Absolution if you ask me. It's almost not even worth playing.

It is really not. That is in my opinion thing number one to fix. Events on the timer.

I would also like to add that the whole AI is lackluster. sometimes they want to escort you from somewhere sometimes they kill you on the spot, sometimes you push someone therefore killing them and they are either mediums who knows who did this and where you are either too oblivious to spot the corpse itself

I kinda doubt that they can alter such a fundamental part of the game to our liking in less than a month. The beta levels were designed around these scripts, I'd be willing to bet everything they have ready for March 11th is designed the same way.

Obviously I have no idea what their level design tools are like but it could be as easy as adding a second condition to the trigger (so it fires either when the player approaches or after a set amount of time). Obviously its not going to be as simple as replacing every trigger but it should certainly be a possibility.

The thing I don't understand is how Contracts mode would work if there's timed events are related to the level's "original" contract. So there's the guy on the boat who doesn't move unless you board the boat on the correct side - will this still be the case on Contracts mode?

I wouldn't hold my breath for a response, and if we get one, it'll probably be a calm "explanation" post saying why the game is just too amazing to include timed events. But I do wonder what the point of the Beta and episodic release if they're not going to address things that are as poorly received as this.

Exactly! That is what concerns me the most; with a game that's allegedly going to be in constant development from launch until the physical release, there is no valid excuse whatsoever to not address complaints and concerns from the customer.

Im taking the silence as a possibility that a delay is incoming - I remember something similar happening before they delayed it before.

Well, if they really are going to delay Hitman once more, their window of opportunity is closing; the as-of launch date is in 11 days. I can't really see them delaying it almost a week away, but if that's what they need to do, so be it.

chill out people. There is not going to be any delay. They just posted another "talking Hitman" video today, with the ending saying blah blah blah ... starts on March 11th. Why would they release it today, and then delay the game again. Delaying the game again would mean instant death to the franchise.

I wouldn't go as far to say that another delay would be instant death to the franchise, but a delay is certainly unlikely at this point. IO Interactive have stated that Hitman will be continuously developed after its 11 March launch date, so they have plenty of time to address issues that are presented.

there's a lot of stuff we've fixed. The changelist is too long for me to get on here but performance fixes and triggering and lots of other things are different. The missions themselves are the same.

posted by Nick at IOI on the twitch beta live-feed , on March 4th

Oh, thank god he actually specifically mentioned triggers.

It's really great to know this! Hope that list of challenges is hidden now and has no spoilers.

He said they're "different", I wouldn't get all hyped up quite yet lol.
