    Xbox One Patch Notes

    Below you will find up-to-date patch notes for Rise of the Tomb Raider on the Xbox One, provided by Crystal Dynamics.

    Patch Number: 1
    Platform: Xbox One
    Issue Date: 11/10/15
    Notes:

    Prior to playing Rise of the Tomb Raider, please be sure to connect to the internet and download the day one patch. We’re exceptionally proud of the game, and have used every last moment up until launch to continue polishing our work. The day one patch includes some refinements, as well as bug fixes to make your experience the best it can be. Find the key updates below.


    The following issues can be resolved by downloading the day one patch before starting. If you are playing a digital download of Rise of the Tomb Raider, the day one patch has already been rolled into the download. If you have purchased a physical copy of the game, you will be prompted to download the patch upon your first play session.

    • Resolved an issue where the player will become trapped by an invisible wall over the stairs after fast travelling to the Soviet Facility basecamp
    • Resolved an issue where the player may encounter an invisible wall inside the interior of the Soviet Copper Mill when returning after completing the game
    • Resolved an issue where moveable objects in the Abandoned Mines may act erratic when coming into contact with the player
    • Resolved an issue where the player will be unable to use the climbing axe to melee attack NPCs after the flamethrower battle in Geothermal Valley, until meeting up with Sophia again
    • Resolved an issue where, rarely, an NPC will not spawn and prevent the fight in the Gulag prison from progressing
    • Resolved an issue where, rarely, the player will encounter an invisible wall where the gate was after the first combat encounter in Path of the Deathless
    • Changed experience point distribution in the early portion of the game.
    • And additional bug fixes, visual polish, and optimizations


    The following issues can be prevented but not solved by downloading the day one patch before starting:

    • Prevented an issue where purchasing the Enhancement Tool before receiving the other two crafting tools, and then dying before hitting a checkpoint, can cause the tool to be removed from the player's inventory
    • Prevented an issue where the well cover in the Abandoned Mines may be present after returning in post-game, blocking 100% completion
    • Prevented an issue where user is unable to craft grenade arrows if they break the barrier in the Acropolis using the grenade launcher
    • Prevented an issue where, occasionally, quest givers will be misplaced in the environment when returning with a completed mission

    New Content
    Endurance Mode – Available Dec. 29th
    Alone and in the wild, Lara must scrounge, scavenge, craft and survive the harsh elements by day, as well as lethal threats from enemies, both man and beast, by night. This is her ultimate woman-versus-wild test to push the limits of how long she can survive on her own in a sprawling, unforgiving landscapes. Fire takes fuel, cold kills the unprepared, food restores health, but everything must be caught, collected, or crafted. You start with nothing and must find everything. Challenge friends to your longest survival run and battle to the top of the leaderboards for the title of Ultimate Survivor. Includes a new outfit and weapon.

    Major Issue Fixes
    • Prevented a save corruption issue that was causing players to be stuck in the Acropolis or Flooded Archives.
    • Fixed issue that caused cinematics to become non-responsive when the console language was set to Dutch.
    • Fixed a crash that could occur if the title was started after installing the patch but before the full game was installed.
    • Fixed an issue where the player could run out of pistol ammo and not reload correctly when attacked by a Deathless soldier.
    • Prevented an issue in the Acropolis where the player becomes unable to crawl under a door after backtracking.


    Gameplay / Progression Fixes
    • Miscellaneous stability / crash fixes.
    • Prevented a rare issue where the player would become stuck in the Research Base when backtracking.
    • Fixed an issue that was causing the crank in the Voice of God tomb to become non-functional.
    • Prevented an issue where the second trebuchet could become stuck in its locked position after leaving the area.
    • Fixed an issue where the third trebuchet became inaccessible due to the swinging object being out of position.
    • Fixed an issue that caused the player model to distort in limited circumstances.
    • Fixed a rare issue where the player would become stuck after throwing a portable object and healing.
    • Fixed an issue where the Ancient Quiver would disappear after dying with the Adventurer's Quiver equipped.
    • Added additional safety checks in the Chamber of Exorcism tomb to prevent physics errors on the puzzle object.
    • Fixed a rare issue in the Soviet Installation that caused level geometry to disappear (Xbox 360).


    Minor Gameplay Bug Fixes
    • Miscellaneous texture / lighting fixes.
    • Removed patch of invisible flame that was hurting players in the Copper Mill.
    • Fixed an issue that was preventing animals from respawning in the Siberian Wilderness.
    • Moved a supply crate in the Hunting Grounds so that it can be looted easier.
    • Prevented battle music from retriggering after backtracking to the beginning of the Copper Mill.
    • Fixed an issue where the big cats would ragdoll erroneously after a takedown.
    • Fixed an issue with the Immortal Guardian outfit not granting proper fire resistance.
    • Fixed an issue that would cause the player to occasionally face the wrong direction after planting a Piton Arrow.
    • Fixed an animation pop that would occur near the end of the tower climb in Kitezh.


    Remnant Resistance Fixes
    • Fixed an issue where user created missions would not save if two or more of the same objectives were used.
    • General improvements to wolf navigation.
    • Fixed an issue where NPCs could become stuck in place after hit reacting to an exploding generator.
    • Fixed an erroneous message in Targeted Strike if the player had the Efficient Killer skill.
    • Miscellaneous shadow and detail improvements.
    • Fixed an issue with some German subtitles not appearing during voice-overs.


    Marketplace / Card Fixes
    • Fixed an issue that prevented Gift Pack names from displaying correctly after switching the in-game language.
    • Fixed an issue that caused the Hydrophobic and Efficient Mining challenges to display times incorrectly.

    We are performing maintenance on Endurance Mode, and it will be back up and running in 2-3 hours.

    • Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch – Available Jan. 26th
    • Deep in the wilds of Siberia lies a forest that no man will enter, where a Soviet expedition vanished without a trace. Lara enters the Wicked Vale in search of a missing man, but she finds a nightmare that defies explanation. Is the witch, Baba Yaga, haunting the forest? Or is there more to the myth? Featuring three hours of new gameplay, Lara will face new adversaries, explore a new tomb, solve a decades old mystery, and face off against an ancient evil. Includes a new outfit, and a new bow.

    • Fixed an occasional issue that was preventing the bear in the Soviet Wilderness from spawning correctly.
    • Prevented a crash in the Endurance timeline after accumulating a very high amount of events.
    • Fixed a rare issue where the player’s bow could stop functioning in Endurance mode.
    • Fixed an issue where the Grip card could block progression in the Research Facility.


    Minor Gameplay Bug Fixes

    • Prevented the player from getting out of world in the Soviet Installation near a rope barrier.
    • Fixed an issue where NPC navigation speeds became out of sync when Hunter Sense card was used.
    • Prevented Lara from taking damage when shooting lanterns with a poison arrow in Score Attack.
    • Fixed an issue where NPCs could become stuck in place after reacting to an exploding generator.
    • Fixed an issue where the player’s camera could become stuck in the Uranium Mine.
    • Fixed an issue in Remnant Resistance that caused map icons to display erratically after completing objectives.
    • Fixed an issue where Lara’s shoulder strap would pop-in erroneously during gameplay and cinematics.

    Patch 4 Notes – Xbox One goes live at 8am UTC / 12am PST March 23. Xbox 360 to follow later this week.

    Xbox One users please note: We are deploying a large update to the Rise of the Tomb Raider servers at 8am UTC / 12am PST. At this time, the title will enter a short maintenance window. Until completed, you may have trouble launching the title while the new versions of Endurance or Baba Yaga are deploying. Once all content has been deployed live, the system should prompt for an automatic update when booting the game. If you are still encountering issues, please reboot the console. Thank you for patience!

    New Content

    Cold Darkness Awakened – Available March 29th for Season Pass holders and for individual purchase.

    Decommissioned during the Cold War, a dormant weapons research base has been breached, unleashing a mysterious affliction into the Siberian wilderness that transforms men into blood-thirsty, mindless killers. Lara must overcome increasingly dangerous waves of these infected adversaries while scavenging their equipment and crafting additional gear on the fly, in kill or be killed survival-combat. Fight for your life against new enemies and complete new challenges, while discovering a way to stop or perhaps even reverse this impending catastrophe. Includes the Ushanka outfit, which reduces Lara’s damage from melee attacks, the devastating Voidhammer shotgun, and the Cold Darkness Awakened Card Pack which includes over 15 new Expedition Cards.

    • Fixed an issue in the Byzantine Bath House where the raft physics could become erratic and break the puzzle.
    • Fixed issue in the Voice of God tomb where the door shuts after backtracking from Baba Yaga (Xbox 360).
    • Fixed several issues with the basecamp after completing Baba Yaga that could prevent players from accessing outfits or fast travel until the checkpoint was reloaded.
    • Added chance to loot Deer Antlers from resource chests in Endurance.

    • Prevented achievement progress for ‘Season of the Witch’ and ‘Complete History of Witchcraft’ from being obtained in Replay Mode.

    • Disabled ability to select the ‘Cocktail Party’ challenge in the Witch’s Cave in Baba Yaga.

    • Fixed minor smoke effect that appeared on Lara after respawning.
    • Miscellaneous networking time-out fixes.

    if you have downloaded a digital pre-order will it automatically update itself prior to release day or will it still have a patch download on the day it becomes live?

    Just updated with an answer! "If you are playing a digital download of Rise of the Tomb Raider, the day one patch has already been rolled into the download. If you have purchased a physical copy of the game, you will be prompted to download the patch upon your first play session."

    Hi Meagan,
    I am playing on an Xbox 360 and I did the update when I put the game in for the first time, but on my first mission, communications breakdown, the quest giver is still missing. He was there a couple of times when I went back to the area, but by the time I finished the mission and went back, he was missing (it took me awhile to finish, I got side-tracked). Is there anything I can do?

    I was wondering the same. Iam still stuck at 99% completion due to the bucket glitch in the "burn baby burn" challenge. Iam checking every day, but still no word on a release date for the 2nd patch (which should resolve this problem).

    Is there any way to determine if patch 2 has been applied? I'm not being prompted to download a patch, and I'm also still not seeing the bird for the Misguided Intelligence challenge.

    Please fix the Acropolis game breaking bug!
    My boyfriend and I are both stuck there, it happened to us both at the end of last week.
    We don't have much free time at all and we can't just restart, it's not a realistic option!

    I'm still stuck in the little room, backtracking through where you save Jonah in the research base. The patch was suppose to remedy, but it doesn't seem to be doing the trick! I just want to play! HA! What should I do?

    It is the room where you have to jump onto the ledge, which breaks off and throws Laura onto a pole. However, the first go around, you break that ledge so on the second time around, it is missing...trapping laura in that little room! You cant go back, you cant move forward. The bug was said to fix this rare issue. But does it fix it for those already stuck in the little room?
