Exclamation Black Screen on start up. Help needed!

I've looked through these forums as well as the Steam and GOG forums and haven't been able to find a fix yet. I start up the game and I can hear the intro, music, etc but the screen is pitch black. I've tried different compatability modes, setting affinity, run as administrator and nothing seems to work.

Any help or assistance on this would be greatly appreciated.

    Windows 7 64 bit
    i5-3570K @ 3.4GHz
    ASUS Sabertooth Z77
    MSI GTX 670
    16 GB RAM

    Thanks in advance.

    What game do you mean?

Blood Omen 2: Legacy of Kain. I have the Steam version. I had no problem with LoK 1 or 2 but BO2 and Defiance both have a black screen on startup.

If you have an nvidia card, this might apply (I cannot verify that this is the same for the Steam version, so this might not apply at all for that reason):

    1) From the start menu in the search programs or files box, type regedit
    2) click the down arrow for HKEY_CURRENT_USER
    3) down arrow for software
    4) down arrow for Chrystal Dynamics
    5) click on Blood Omen 2
    6) double click on DisableVShader
    7) change the value from 0 to 1 and click ok

First off, thank you for the reply. It appears that this value was already set to 1. Odd, because I don't believe I changed it before.

I'll post my specs if that helps at all:

    i5-3570K @ 3.4GHz
    ASUS Sabertooth Z77
    MSI GTX 670
    16 GB RAM

I've still been trying to fix this. Any other suggestions?

Finally solved it with help from a friendly GOG forum memeber - http://www.gog.com/forum/legacy_of_k...p_needed/page1

Ah, I'm glad the issue is resolved for you. Paradoks is a forum member here, too, but it has been a while since he and many others have been around. With the forum merger impending ... somewhere down the road, and many over on the SE side of things with the new game, Nosgoth, a lot of the regulars aren't so regular right now.

Thanks for sharing the thread, in case anyone else runs into this problem. Hopefully, your gaming experience will be pleasant from here on out.

Oh come on! I've written a whole one post in the LoK section in August .
But I admit I missed this thread on my last visit here.
That being said, right now I'm not a regular anywhere (including GOG forums) and soon I'll be forced into shadows for at least another two months.

    So, see you around later.

And I'm still not interested in Nosgoth.
