I've frequented the site over many years and haven't personally noticed any misinformation.... but that doesn't mean it isn't there, of course.

There was some information regarding an opposition leader in the city, who is fighting against the oppression and dictatorship of the baron.

I think that rebel leader is Erin. (A pagan women maybe?)

It makes sense to put her up there, because the conflict is likely to take place between her and the watch captain, with garret somewhere inbetween.

I"m quite sure no one remembers, but a loooooong time ago I said that if Garrett were to be brought back (I wanted him killed off) that he should have a colleague. Specifically a young girl apprentice that he would train in the ways of thievery.

I wanted co-op missions ala Resident Evil 4 with Ashley (Leeeeeeooooon!) where you would cooperate with her to achieve your goals. I think, once again, EM took my advice.

I have no wish to rain on your pink parade... but others speculated in similar fashion; so I don't think she exists solely by virtue of your advice.

Well, I'm pretty sure I was the first. Admittedly, it's a far out speculation. I have a hard time thinking anyone would hope for co-op play in Thief.

Sounds like she plays a major part in the game. I'm sticking with apprentice side-kick.

  12. #12
Erin is Garretts love interest/sidekick who gives him advice over a steampunk radio throughout the game.

I hoped at least for 'no' co-op AI sidekick in 2009. Here's a snippet of that post:
DarknessFalls wrote (http://forums.eidosgames.com/showpos...ostcount=228): Stephen Russell as Garrett only, please. No other female or male lead. No sidekick helping out either. (Sidekicks are too prevalent these days and they spoil the sense of aloneness and vulnerability. take prince of persia, for example, or resident evil 5, or turok the latest version, or any number of squad based games. sidekicks ruin games for me - especially 'isolated, loner games' - and would certainly ruin Thief, imo.)
There were probably others who mentioned wanting or not wanting an AI sidekick before me, though.
Another quote, from July 2011: http://forums.eidosgames.com/showpos...0&postcount=87
My frear is having a perpetual sidekick, like Resident Evil 5 or the new Prince of Persia -- you know, all these games that insist on giving you a friend or batallion to run around with the whole time. I like Garrett being alone and seemingly a loner. I don't want to constantly hear a sidekick beside me making repetitive and dumb comments, or reassuring me when it's a scary area, or giving me health or arrows when I'm low. I want the solo experience. The more you feel alone and vulnerable in the shadows, the more satisfying the gameplay is.
It seems we don't really agree on this matter

I think companionship works best in games when it's used between the pages. After a string of truly stressful solo moments, it's almost essential for pacing to relax a little and enjoy some companionship. This also helps making the future stressful moments truly effective.

Being unexpectedly isolated from said companion is also effective, when it's not used as a big melodramatic cliché (Mass Effect 1's painfully obvious "chose which isolated partner you will save" was the trope of soap operas).

But I agree a constant, or at least prominent partner is more often than not counter-productive, especially in survival or loner games.

... and we'll have to save her in the end, and there'll be escort missions...

A sidekick?! In a Thief game?!
    Nope.
    Just nope.

I hope that her A.I. will be up to par if she's gonna be a companion xD

Did I miss something? Where did anyone on the development team say that Garrett is going to have a sidekick/companion/coop partner/etcetera...?

Far as companion NPCs go, Elizabeth has ruined all others for me. Irrational really set the bar higher with her.

    Yea

Skyrim's AI was pretty bad...although i think there is a mod that fixed it.

We've heard nothing official and, afaik, this is the first time this character has ever been mentioned.
