    Unhappy Farewell Dhama

It is with a heavy heart that I have been given the go-ahead to announce that my good friend for many years, Terry Barrett, better known on these forums as Dhama, passed away on Friday 10 May 2013.

He had, apparently been diagnosed with Tietze syndrome, an inflammatory condition in the chest, and had to have Cortisone injections which seemed to have worked but, as one of his friends in Sweden stated, “04:00 tonight he drifted away, and despite the ambulance's attempt to bring him back, it failed.”

Terry had been very active on these forums having, for a while, been a moderator. He did much to promote the TR Level Editor and organized at least two major level building competitions after nagging Eidos to provide prizes.

More recently, he had emigrated to Sweden where he was very happy in his work looking after people with disabilities and, recently, getting married again.

He was also a very talented model builder and specialised in making replica Star Trek props, many can be seen on his Photobucket pages HERE and also his youtube page:

Among his other talents were an excellent photographic eye and, how we met over thirty years ago, music, having made seven solo albums, sadly, no longer available.

One of his albums was sold through the Tibet Society with all proceeds going to the charity.

He was always one of the most the most thoughtful and kindest people I have known and I, for one, have lost a really good friend.

He always believed that death was the beginning of the next stage of the journey so, have a good trip my friend. Hope to catch up again one day.

Heard about this earlier and was just shocked and flabbergasted.

Very tragic. He was still so young

    Farewell, Terry.

I enjoyed your levels and your music, too.

And I will always remember that great poster you made.

Thank you for being a part of our community... wherever you may be now.

    R.I.P.

And to Tina and the rest of Terry's family and friends, should they read this - my condolences.

It must be almost 10years since I joined this forum and Dhama was a very active member at that time. He was a very thoughtful guy, who changed my way of thinking on many an occasion. As the years went by I had the pleasure of meeting him on a couple of occasions, along with his dear friend Staticon... A moment in time I will NEVER forget. Happy memories made and cherished forever.
May your onward journey be all you hoped for Terry... Respect!

It is very sad news and such a tragic loss. Terry was a close personal friend and I shall miss him very much. My heart goes out to his wife and his step-daughter!

I don't think anyone I know had such an eye to beauty as Terry. His photographs were stunning. The artwork and paintings he did were incredible. For those who played his TRLE-levels, you truly stepped into a world of beauty! His last hobby was prop making, and he could spend weeks, even months, perfecting a tricorder or a phaser, and the collection he made of the props would have amazed even Gene Roddenberry!

The world has lost a kind and gentle person and he will be dearly missed!

Really shocking and very sudden sad news to hear about Dhama passing away........

Back in 2002, when I've joined the Eidos forums, he was the very first person to welcome me as a newbie. I vividly recall our occasional online conversations and email exchange about buddhism. Lovely memories of his kind and caring nature

I've met my present bf at the same time and have very fond memories of my first visits at his place with Dhama's music playing in the background...

Thank you, Dhama. In return for your kindness, wishing you endless happiness and nirvana

My sincere condolences to Dhama's family and close friends.

I just heard about this very sad news :-(

Of all the people I got to know through online communities, Terry was one of the first (and very few) I got to meet in real life...and I'm happy I had that pleasure. He was a very warm and easy going person, devoted to his projects.

...way too young to go :-(

My thoughts are with his family and friends

    Unhappy

I heard this shocking news yesterday and have been completely stunned by it!

The world will be a much less kinder place without him and I thank him for giving me a very precious gift; the gift of questioning MYself and MY actions before questioning others.

May the road rise to meet you gentle Terry, May the wind be always at your back......

Love and prayers to Terry's wife and family, hugz to us all that were touched by his spirit.

Only just heard the news, as for so many others it came as a shock.
His is one of the names I remember well from when I first joined up here oh I don't know how many years ago.
The world has indeed lost a precious treasure.
Condolences to friends and family, guildies and forumites alike. Much luck and prospering in the Final Frontier.

The first person online I ever met who shared my love of Star Trek and our deeper appreciation of Spock over Kirk. Enjoyed the time we played together and the memories you gave me. You are missed. Deepest regards and prayers for those left behind.

I was not a TR fan or follower so my knowledge of Dhama is slight. I regret that those who knew him are now deprived of a friend they admired.

However, as long as Staticon and the rest of you have him in your thoughts, now and then, he will never truly be gone. He has just moved on and left an empty body behind.
