[PC MOD] Difficulty level mod

Why is he/are you making the game easier in most aspects? I understand the aug/cash changes and gun nerf but the stacking and wall texture changes are silly.
Let's play Deus Ex: Invisible War -- http://www.dxalpha.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=16640
    Now in Trier

I like the wall texture thing, but the stacking really needs to go.

Stacking increased a bit because lack of stash or place accessible any time in game before mission.
Texture change meant to be played with disabled "Objects highlighting".

ps: well, after few request about stacking, new version of the mod will be uploaded tomorrow

    SC,

I'm new to the forum, and forgive me for not reading any of this thread,

But gyron said you may be able to help...

I have been testing weapon stats in game. Things like, number of rounds needed to kill, a particular target type, versus various weapon upgrades...

Since you made a mod, would you know if these variables are viewable or hackable?

I have been shooting poor Jenny and the Hyron drones, turrets, bots, and Zhao to death, literally. It's good to have both in-game testing data and the fundamental variables, if available.

Thanking you in advance for your reply,

    RK7

    great job!

Can this mod be made modular?

I've zero interest in difficulty increases, but I would love the inventory mod if it were standalone...
I am Wrath. I am Hatred. I am the righteous Vengeance.

Harder setting would be more fun for me too; however, I'd rather have more enemies with equal arms and armor than just more powerful enemies or reduced firepower. In other words I'd rather have a frantic firefight with many enmies that lasts 15 seconds than spend 15 seconds shooting 1 or 2 enemies that seem to just absorb 2 clips without much more than a twitch to indicate I'm doing some damage. At least it feels like I'm accomplishing something if I can get the enemy count down from 10 to 7.

The raised cost for augumentations sounds absolutely great but im kind of sceptical about the inventory stacking. Also, I hate the fact that you have nerfed downd the weapons damage, because if anything must be done to them its to give them MORE damage, since they are (like in most games) already unrealisticly ineffective. Give weapons more power and cut down the ammo count?

Anyone know a mod that would only raise the cost of augumentations?

You do realize that the only weapon that the damage has been decreased on is for the modded version of the 10 mm pistol... that armor piercing upgrade made it more powerful then the sniper rifle which made no sense. If you want to increase the damage of all weapons across the board.. well I don't know of any other mods besides this one that change the gameplay in any way.

I know I'm missing something here, this is going to sound n00bish as hell..

I tried doing that using a HEX editor on the patch0.000 file, but I couldn't find anything called "globalplayerinfo.drm". I can't find it in my file system either. I really want to kill that horrendous thing completely, preferably remove/hide the radar object in the HUD layer as well. I did my last playthrough with a piece of electrical tape on my monitor ><

I've had no luck searching the forum on this, would anyone be so kind as to walk me through it?

    Nice

Good mod. Augs are now more specialised, which is good. Agree with most of the other changes.

Do you think it'd be possible to change the stats of augs? More useful Dermal armor on Give Me Deus Ex would be nice, for one. I barely noticed a difference when I upgraded it. That may not be difficulty raising, but it certainly makes SENSE. Either that, or increased damage for some of the weapons.

There are some possibilities I can think of that MAY be tweaked, but I realise you don't have a lot to work with. Enemies' vision cones (they're quite blind at times, geez), sound detection etc. are things I could imagine being able to be tweaked. But what do I know.

If this mod is eventually able to remove Health Regen and forces me to be selective in my purchases and augmentation ( I don't want to be able to have all the augs by the end), all the while making the game harder, I might finally buy and play the game. Keep up the good work!

Considering the increased cost of augs you certainly have to be more selective. Hacking augs will eat away at your praxis points now. You can remove health regen through another mod, the debug-mod. At least I think it does, I haven't exactly tried it out myself but you can check out the thread on it, it's somewhere on these pages.

Awesome! I'll take a look, thanks man!

Where is this new version? Is this guy AWOL?

  16. #66
Bumping this thread... hopefully the OP sees this or passes the torch to someone because I want the non-inventory stack increase gone!

I can't be the only one that wants this!

  17. #67
Another bump wouldn't hurt... would be nice to get a word from OP...

I hope this isn't dead, though support for this game from devs and fans seems to be waning...

  18. #68
DXHR definitely needs a serious increase in difficulty.

Health Regen needs to be slowed down significantly,
    Augment upgrades should cost more,
You shouldn't be able to get extra XPs for doing things like going through another route EVEN THOUGH you have ALREADY gone through a different route
    Hacking computers shouldn't yield XP

By decreasing XP intake, it'd be finally possible to play the game with differently balanced character builds instead of the OMNIPOTENT JENSEN: EVERYTHING USEFUL UNLOCKED BY THE MIDDLE OF THE GAME style.
You got a funny way of talking... JJB.

This mod is is bad idea, what a hell is Argumentation? They they need and this is You call hard mode? I call here no deusex. Better make a better enemy tracking system, what they more react if someone disappear, some of them have radio and other stuff. What reducing health and sprint, You can't what about what have some argumentations.

    I've opened golbalplayerinfo.drm with hex editor, i've find offset 00013550 but i've not find "c8 41" value.
Pls help me, i'm looking for disable radar range, tanx.

    edit:

-Solved searching directly c8 41 in hex string globalplayerinfo.drm , radar disabled

I wonder if OP is okay.

Maybe someone else can take over? I REALLY wish the stacking thing was gone... otherwise I'd download this in a second.

  22. #72
Bumping one last time... does anyone know how to mod like this guy does? maybe someone can take over...?

    Please... the stacking is outrageous.

Hey i cant play this game with radar... i just cant stand it!

I did open the file globalplayerinfo.drm, but i cant find that offset? The "biggest" number i have is 0000007F8?

Do not find anything with c8 41 in my file either....maybe i am doing something wrong?

I do not have any prior knowledge of hex editors and such. But i realy want to disable the radar!!!

Can we please have difficulty mod working with Director's Cut? Or for that matter just with the latest vanilla game?

I personally want an aug cost rebalance so you could fully upgrade only 1 of the 3 aug trees.

Oh dear, it appears the link is broken in general. There is another difficulty mod: http://forums.eidosgames.com/showthread.php?t=136788 but that doesn't work for the DC either.
All the more reason not to bother with the DC.
