Excellent! Good to hear that I don't have to cancel anything and still get to give my money in exchange for something awesome.

I feel bad for the people who cancelled their pre-orders but, then again, I don't.

Glad to see this situation got resolved. But my Preorder stays cancelled, since it was done on good faith and that was shot in the head. Good faith was necessary on a game which is the third installement in a series with the second part being underwhelming to say the least. The awesome marketing provided me with this faith. But that region lock desaster obliterated it completely.

On the plus side, 30€ more to spend this month.

It is sad, that the people who made SE change their mind by canceling their preorders are now the ones being left behind, because apparently they can't get their order back,or not for the price they used to have.

I'd love to see a DXHR 2.0 with a "Behind The Scenes" of the time starting from this week to about one week after the release. The segment showing the meeting that lead to the region-unlock should be called URDED.

I cancelled my preorder... I guess I can't get it back. Super frustrating.

There's one thing I don't understad... AE costs 40 euros and the figure costs 35, so if my maths aren't wrong I can get it all for 75 euros... While CE costs 90 euros and it's the same?? Why would people choose to pay 15 euros more for the same?

The reason is diverse. At first, you have to find a cheap AE incl. shipping and then you also have to find the figurine at this price tag incl. shipping. Some don't want or don't have the time or made the decision at the wrong time to look it up and so they just bought the CE without caring anymore. But of course you have a point because there is/was the possibility to get it cheaper then the CE.

Wait a minute. So it would've worked here (Finland)? I preordered my boxed copy from UK and cancelled today after reading about this region lock thingie. But I'd be able to activate and play UK boxed PC version of the game here in Finland?

Anyway, I think that CE is still too expensive, there's no excuse to cost 90 euros and "physically" you only get an artbook, a soundtrack and a figure... I remember paying 75 euros for Witcher's 2 CE and THAT's a collector edition... Among others, an audio-CD with in-game music, a map of the game's world, a strategy guide, two papercraft dolls, head sculpture of Geralt of Rivia, poker dice, playing cards, three stickers, coins...
I wouldn't pay 90 euros for DEHR CE and its contents, sorry.

    Yep, pretty much.

Given that it was on release day when Steam released the release code.
Yes siree, the excitement never ends.

Hey I am totally agreeing with you, all I wanted to do was explain the reasons.^^ I think the AE or CE is bad. The soundtrack is way to short, the artbook is so thin that you can call it a flyer and it looks they didn't even made a hardcover and the other things are content which was cut out of the game even though everyone had paid for it. And the figurine? Is nice but yeah the price is a little bit high especially in the CE.
The Witcher 2 Collectors Edition and even the normal edition were much better. Yes and even standard editions from other games are giving the soundtrack or those mini artbooks for free. Unfortunatly some companies ignore such facts and pretend like nothing happened.

Even here, in the topic of the region lock, it looks like we're getting ignored. They're backpedaling but apoligize for it? Oh no, it seems they think the approach was totally right otherwise they would say sorry for all the inconvenience.

    @Vestu
    Yes you are

hehe I pre-orderded the augmented edition (pc) for 33 euro quite some time ago >

Feel sorry for those who have to pay more

Yep. And if you feel bad about having canceled your pre-order, don't. I mean, this is what I got from Square-Enix support:

    Dear Customer,

Thank you for contacting the Square Enix Support Centre.

We regret to inform you that the UK Pc version of Deus Ex: Human Revolution will only work with UK Steam account. In other words, your pre-ordered UK version of the game won?t work in Finland due to regional restrictions.
However, UK console versions are only language restricted, meaning the game will display audio and tittles only in English.

    Regards,

The SQUARE ENIX Technical Support Team.

And, before you guys throw a fit, this was obviously before the "review". Still, I'd like to quote the above as an example of how to make a serious Deus Ex fanboy really, really upset...

(I realise I'm being a classic Internet whiner here. But, hey, I had preordered in December, I like to support companies by preordering whenever I can, getting this kind of stuff pulled on me the week before release, when there's already a possibility that if I don't act with relative haste to cancel, I might get something shipped to me that I can't actully use...)

I've tried to find this information around without much luck. Does anybody knows if the XBOX 360 version of the game will be region locked? I know that the PC version and PS3 won't be. I just ordered a collectors edition from UK since the US won't have this version available, but now I'm considering just cancelling it Help please.

  21. #921
I don't know if the US version is region locked but if you import from UK and live in Europe (and it seems also Australia) you won't face any problem.

As I understand it, there will be only the usual PAL and NTSC versions without artificial region locks.

By last update on my pre order on game.co.uk (digital version - metaboli) i will not have trouble getting activation in Portugal ... I think I am safe from this mess ...

I guess no region lock mean no region lock
It may be hard to believe, but this game is actually good. The lack of melee weapons is still a real pain in the ass though.
