If you loved the original Deux Ex, then you have to play...

    ...what?

I'm having a hard time finding good games to play and need some advice.

    Gone through all the classics.

    System shock II
    Both Deux Ex's
    Fallouts
    STALKER
Even obscure ones like The Fall.

What games can you guys recommend for those of us that hold the original Deux Ex as their hands down favorite games? The games where a good inventory/skill system coupled with an amazing story leads it to be a memorable experience.

    Thanks in advance

Hopefully we'll get some good suggestions for those of us caught in a gaming rut.

I can't think of many other games as the ones already mentioned that have a similar setting and complexity.

I can recommand Vampires the Masquerade - Bloodlines aka Vampires 2
and if you dont mind a fantasy scenario, there tons of great RPGs.

I recommend Vampires too, besides, there are tens of great RP games.

Speaking of Vampire, anyone know where I can find the patch for it? I think it's on 44 now but I couldn't even get into the hotel bacause of one of the numerous bugs. Shame, I was enjoying the fact that malkovalians still had a whole bloodline to themselves.

I agree, Vampires 2 is a wonderfully fun game - the characters, the locations, the quests, they all combine very well. It also has possibly the greatest radio station in a game (yes, I prefere it even to the GTA one) Absolutely genius

Might I reccomend that you all go out and buy the vampire: the requiem sourcebook and the world of darkness core rule book, it's the updated role playing system, and it's fun as hell, assuming you can actually get a group together but 3 people seem to work fine for me. Imagine bloodline's story but even more at the whim of the guy you put in charge and less limits on what you can do. I think I missed the part in bloodlines where your character could put an order in for his next pimp mobile to be a mobile armoury.
How long until this thread gets closed do we think?

Definitely Neocron. It's basically a Deus Ex MMO. It's a shame the population is so low. Back when it was high, I had some of the best gaming moments of my life!

Have you tried Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth?

The story is taken from the lovecraft horror novels, you play as a private detective that must find out what happened to a missing boy in the town of Innsmouth.

It plays like Deus Ex but more realistic, the game has a fear system that affects your characters sanity, if you look at scary things like dead bodies or monsters you will lose sanity and the screen starts to lose focus like your character is scared and you will hear him saying things like "I'm going to die" and "There's something watching me", if you lose too much sanity there is a chance your character will commit suicide, the screen vision also changes colour to grey when you are near death.

It has a mix of investigation, puzzles, chase scenes, shooting parts and the bosses are cool. The game is one of the best i have ever played and the story is awesome, i highly recommend it.

    how come nobody mentioned Oblivion?

it's the closest thing to DeusEx i've ever played, but in a different time era, of course.
