    How about making a Thief Fan Music Compilation?

    Yep, there are some folks on this forum who create some really tasty music inspired by their favorite game. How about making a compilation/tribute/fan work?

    What I mean is: everyone interested contributes one track, as polished as possible that is based on the Thief universe - a faction, character, location, whatever.

    I'm interested, hopefully CookieSpy and Epifire will be interested too and I hope for more . If there won't be enough participants then I guess we'll try to contribute more pieces.

    I'm really concerned about THIEF's soundtrack. The calm music is good enough, moody and so on, but why did they put action music in there? It's just one of the things that bug me about the reboot.

    Sounds like a great idea! But I currently don't have the time to polish anything...
    If someone wants to use my work, maybe do some polishing for me... great!

    Take your time, no rush! I'm not ready to dive into that project yet as well, just wanted to find out if the idea will pan out .

    Awesome idea, good sir! I still listen to a lot of Thief fan tracks from a decade ago, so hearing some new ones is something I'd love to do.

    Because boomerangs.

    @Kazzic

    Yes, something like this . Perhaps it will be possible to track down other Thief communities and find guys responsible for older fan work.

    @Master Taffer

    Why, thank you! Even if this idea doesn't work out there is a possibility that I will have something for you to listen to .

    Ugh, I forgot they implemented this. I assume you're referring to how action music kicks in as soon as the guards become alert? It's the auditory equivalent of putting eye alert icons over the heads of guards. An alternative way of making you feel like a mind reader, as you know exactly when a guard becomes alert and when the alert state passes. Please, EM, don't do this; or if you simply must do it for the endless stream of casualizations, make it yet one more thing disableable. (Posting this in the suggestions thread, too.) Makes me wonder what other casualizations might slip in under the radar that won't be disableable if we don't notice or say anything now.

    PS: Are you suggesting the fan works get bundled into the game's release? If not, is distribution ony via this thread, or what do you have planned?

    In classic Thief series yo had to infer all the data from your observations, here you have them served on a silver platter. I know you can turn this whole Focus thing off, but I assume the game's going to be built around this feature as it is even explained in the story...

    Anyway, no, these will not be bundled with the game's release, I was just thinking of a compilation advertised on this forum, maybe on the official blog, I don't know yet, it's hard to tell as right now there are only two guys interested in making some music (including me). The idea needs to pan out first .

    I hear ya... the forum has been pretty quiet, in general, as of late. That probably doesn't help your plight much. If I were in a better place in life at the moment, I might contribute one. But alas. Only one I've ever tried/done is in the Dark Mod library somewhere. It was fun to make, and a challenge given my resources, but not sure it fits the bill.

    Cool! I wish I knew what to ask for...
    I've never contributed to a compilation before, let alone done something like this myself.
    Composing tracks is much easier than polishing them... and I only write a piece every couple of months or so.

    Here's something I wrote last year. It's a warm summer night and I'm just sneakin' around

    Seems there's some interest, so I guess we can start working on the compilation.

    What we're looking for is dark/ritual ambient, medieval industrial and dark breakbeats in the vein of The Dark Project intro. You know, something that would work as a Thief soundtrack.

    Here's one from me:

    Hope it works as a piece from "Thief soundtrack"!

    @CookieSpy

    Chill . By "polished" I simply meant delivering a quality track that could be in a Thief game and your work meets that prerequisite .

    @Flashart

    Nice songie .

    Awesome! I feel like I'm always cramming too much into my tracks and I never have the patience for this kind of gradual development of the atmosphere.
    Mine would probably not work as a soundtrack. It's a different style.

    I'd like to contribute one of the following three:

    You can actually contribute all three if you want to . And I believe your music would work as a soundtrack or at least as a cinematic piece .

    I can imagine those tracks playing in a cut scene. Nice work!

    Thanks!
    If you really like it, there are some other tracks on my channel, but I think they're not as good as these three.

    Hey guys, I'm glad there was such a positive response to the idea but unfortunately I don't think it's going to work out.

    But thanks a lot!
