Just before the whole E3 conference thing goes down, Eidos and IO Interactive have released an exclusive new trailer at Game Daily (http://www.gamedaily.com/games/mini-ninjas/playstation-3/game-features/mini-ninjas-will-save-the-world). Go there, check it out and tell us what you think!

What can I say? Great trailers! But I can't help but worry slightly - are you guys showing a bit too much of this pre-rendered/CGI stuff and not enough of actual gameplay stuff? Why waste time and money on something that doesn't actually represent the final game accurately? I currently have 3 worries, all to do with the look and style of the game:

1) I'm worried that everything we're shown is pre-rendered and will not be anything like the final game (in terms of looks especially!).

2) What little we have seen of the actually game (a few screen shots at the most) looks, no offence to IOI, like a rather average Wii game. I'm focusing on looks here because the art style of MN is so amazing and with the power of the PC, 360 & PS3 as well as the Glacier 2.0 engine you guys should be able to pull off something like the first trailer but we're just not seeing that right now which kinda worries me as the potential is there but it doesn't seem to be used. No ones asking for Uncharted style detail but what we've got now isn't good at all IMHO...

3) Will visual problems from K&L be carried over into MN - such as no proper lighting/shadows in the game (shadows and proper lighting make the world of difference, just look at Splinter Cell and Ass. Creed) and things like unbalanced detail with some characters looking great (Kane) and others looking like something out of the PS2 era (Jenny). As well are the low-polygon environment object e.g. tress and bushes which I hope wont be repeated in this game!

I won't judge too much yet but once the E3 HD gameplay footage comes in we'll be bale to see if the game really does look great or is some average Wii/PS2 thing.

Well, I have no idea what the in-game visuals will look like in motion, but I'm damned stoked from these pre-rendered cutscenes! Let the HYPE begin!!!

Well, actually, if you go to the new website, which launched at 2AM CET today, you'll see an in-game trailer! Go to the new Mini Ninjas website (http://www.minininjas.com) and have a look!

All I'm going to say is, and I mean this with respect to IOI (for their amazing previous work)...

"I am really glad that they are making Kand and Lynch 2 and a new Hitman"

I like looking forward to their games. But this is just... eh... not really the kind of game that IOI fans like me expect.

They're actually making a new Hitman and new K&L as well as another un-announced game. :) And I agree with you. I don't mind these types of games and this one certainly has the potential but the unique looks and style shown in the pre-rendered trailers are not actually a part of the game and I'm getting the impression that this game is hack and slash all the way. Not to mention the Wii graphics have really let me down, IOI must not be bothered about the millions who rather play on their PC/360/PS3 and expect more than Wii-sytle graphics in a game that seems to be focusing on action rather then anything else. My anticipation for this game just went down a lot. Nice website though.

I hope IOI read this and take notes!

dark_angel_7, well the game looks realy good on Xbox 360 (hadn't seen PS3/PC/Wii). And when i'm looking to the Wiii screens i can see a big difference between these two versions.
You should watch the gameplay-trailer in HD. :)
Anyway, the graphics is not the most important thing in games.

I looked at your fansite in the screenshots section and compared two screenshots from the Ice levels. One was from the Wii version and the other from the 360/PS2/PC versions and guess what? They looked exactly the same. And as far as I know you cant watch the gameplay videos on the site in HD.

This games is basically a family-friendly Wii game but for some absurd reason the decision was made to also put it on the PC, 360 & PS3. Waste of time and money if you ask me.

I know graphics aren't everything but theres not point in having a beautiful art style and look for a trailer and not using it for the actual game is really stupid. I guess I won't be buying this game. Can't wait for H5 and K&L2 though. :)

The in-game graphics are almost the same as the trailers. Very very cool and I love that new video...making camp fires very quickly! Hehe.

I just post in Batman AA, but I saw the Debut Trailer for Mini Ninjas awhile back. I have to say that this game looks incredibly fun and creative. It does look childish but it seems to have that mature play about it. Ill be checking this out.

I take Ratchet & Clank as a benchmark to judge this game's visuals against since they both share a similar cartoony style and target demographic, and R&C is a HUGE franchise that's made bucketloads of cash through its hoards of dedicated fans. So compare this Mini Ninjas screenshot (http://lh6.ggpht.com/_FTP-a6eMUGg/SiIppBGvpAI/AAAAAAAAAK8/pl3pKltI8lI/s800/minininjas.png) and this Ratchet & Clank screenshot (http://lh5.ggpht.com/_FTP-a6eMUGg/SiIppfox6YI/AAAAAAAAALA/f7eyQ46BHsc/s800/ratchet.png), both of which I took randomly from their trailers. I figure you can ignore the difference in resolution since both games will probably be 720p (Nick or someone can correct me if I'm wrong). So really I don't see that much difference in quality. Sure there's a whole lot more going on at once in the R&C trailer, but is that lack of ambition from IOI, artistic choice, the fact that the trailer seems to be from an early tutorial mission? I think that it's a bit premature to judge too harshly.

If you have reservations then by all means wait until a few reviews are out after the game has been released before writing the game off, but I think doing so based on the evidence you've seen so far is a bit harsh.

The real problem seems to be that your expectations have not been for an action/platformer, but for something else.

Whilst I understand what you're saying, and I love R&C too, I think you're mis-understanding the point I'm making. I'm not really too fussed about the similarities or whatever between MN and R&C. What I want to know is the reason behind putting the game on PC, 360 & PS3 when really they wont take advantage of those platforms. In these hard economic times you want to be saving as much money as possible not spending more. Developing for those 3 platforms is by no means cheap so if they are going to make the game for them then they should at least use the platforms to their advantage. At least Tomb Raider: Underworld could manage that much. I've seen comments on this game and whilst everyone agress it looks fun (which it does) some agree with what I'm saying and think it would be best left to Wii & DS becasue it just doesnt look right on the more advanced platforms. I know looks and graphics aren't all that but with a gorgeous art style like the one shown in the trailers they could really make something of this game but don't seem to take advantage of the potential there (a bit like K&L having lots of potential but failing expectations).

My expectations are to have a platformer with action, yes - but what they have shown in the videos and new previews just seems to be action. Will obviously wait a bit more to see if this changes.

I looked at the images, very nice. I did manage to view the trailer in better resolution on a bigger screen and it looked good so I will give this game a try anyway. :)
