View Full Version : Could Detroit City be considered the "real world Gotham"?

Hi all.. So onto the question:

I've never been to Detroit myself but I thought it would be interesting to know whether Detroit could be considered a "Real world Gotham" in the sence of crime, ect.

Is DC [lol] really as bad as it often appear's to be or is the media yet again pulling thing's out of it's rear end?

I've never imagined Gotham as an average American city. Like Burton's series, I perceive it as a slightly otherworldly place -- it's still a dark, deep city, but it looks slightly twisted and comical.

You read into the media waaaaaaay too much. Seriously. It's not some barren wasteland where people are running around shooting off guns in the air, raping and pillaging along the way.

And how else was I supposed to know? Like I said, I don't live there, but I'd like to know of anywhere worse than Detroit.

I lived in Santa Ana most of my life and I moved to Anaheim four or five years ago. Everyone I ever met always talked all this smack about SA all the time. The students are all gangbangers, they're all underachievers, it's a dangerous place, the list goes on. You know, normal every city stuff. The worst I ever saw was these guys running out of a crack house into their four black cars and the police following after them about three minutes after. And as far as students go, there was a time when I could've named twenty that were learning college course material (for fun) and I could point out another twenty that I didn't know that did that too. I move to Anaheim which is supposed to be safer and I'm finding out that a guy died before he could get on the tram to Disneyland which isn't that far of a drive for me and a kid got shot in the head not more than two blocks from me. Those are the kinda random things that happen every once in awhile everywhere that I wish there were superheroes for.

You know, they could film something on Puerto Rico. It has a nice city called Condado. And it has a spanish castle called El Morro. So, if he makes one movie that needs a castle, he could film part of it there. Not all the movie, but parts.

Is not Porta Rico. Is Puerto Rico. Well, I meant for another movie too. But I did thought for a Batman villain that could live on a castle. I know, this sounds like Dr. Doom. but maybe Scarecrow could live on an abandoned castle, or Man-Bat. Or any other that Nolan could bring to a movie.

1. I do not care about my spelling.
2. Scarecrow in a castle right....
3. This would not suit nolans theme.
