I like discussing things with the members on this forum, so I thought this might be a good topic.

Anyway, what's your favorite Batman movie and why?

My favorite would have to be The Dark Knight. B89 comes really close, but TDK's superb story gives it the lead.

I really liked Tim Burton's Gotham City more than Nolan's though. Michael Keaton was an amazing Batman, too. Christian Bale is very talented also, but he needs to tone down the scruffy voice, in my opinion.

Here's how I'd rate it:

Batman '89 - 9.5/10
Batman Returns - 9.0/10
Batman Forever - 8.5/10
Batman & Robin - 0/10 (Quite possible the worst movie ever made)
Batman Begins - 8.0/10
The Dark Knight - 9.6/10

By the way, what did you guys think of Val Kilmer's performance as Batman? I thought he was pretty good. He deserves more credit.

Does anyone know why he wasn't Batman in Batman & Robin?

EDIT: Never-mind. Wiki explained everything. Turns out Kilmer is a bratty drama queen. :\

Val Kilmar was preety good just Joel didin't give him a great script.

Oh also did you know that Bale had audicianed for being robin in Batman Froever?

Oh and did you know that the main character from bones the buffed out dude had been picked to play as batman / bruce wayne in christopher nolans films?

But anyways this are my ratings:

Batman '89 - 8/10
Batman Returns - 8/10
Batman Forever - 7/10
Batman & Robin - 6/10 (Just cause I really enjoyed it as a kid)
Batman Begins - 8.5/10
The Dark Knight - 8/10

I am still pending a great Batman movie. With an ideal cast. Don't I do not have an idea will look like.

Really? That's interesting. I wonder how Bale's career would have been if he got the role of Robin.

And what would your ideal cast be? This is a movie discussion thread, after-all. :)

Oh, okay. I thought you already had an idea of what you'd want.

Personally, I'd love to see a movie based off of Arkham. Like the game.

The only reason I don't like BB is because of the long intro. I almost fell asleep waiting for Bruce to get to Gotham.

Wow! Just when I thought I knew all there was to know about Batman I'm struck with something clear out of left field. Very cool, guys! Very cool indeed.

SO! Let me rank my Bat-movies:

Batman (1966) - 3/10 (It's a classic film, but I found myself to be quite bored with the first and each subsequent viewing. The running with a giant cartoon bomb thing was the best part, unfortunately.
Batman (1989) - 8/10 (This is the film that really turned me on to the character at the get go. I didn't realize Batman didn't kill at the time, but for him to be dark and with a clear purpose without the flamboyance and camp made a great deal of sense.
Batman Returns - 6/10 (BR turned out to be something I thought at the time was alright, but soon became bored with it. It's garish and just a Tim Burton film with Batman characters in it.)
Batman Forever - 4/10 (Worst Two-Face ever. Terrible story. Terrible artistic direction AND direction. It was just a major disappointment to me and it made a lot of sense why Keaton backed out.)
Batman & Robin - .5/10 (They got credit for showing up to class.)
Batman Begins - 9/10 (FINALLY got the character right in comparison to how I would imagine his true existence. The new series is about the creation of a legend and that's what we got here and in the next film.)
The Dark Knight - 9.8/10 (Straight up - favorite film of all time. Only knocks against it are the Joker's make up and the death of really important character to the Batman stories; that just wasn't handled appropriately in my opinion.)

Don't get me wrong, I loved the animated films and I thought Batman 89 was fantastic, but Batman Begins and TDK are my favorites. They make Gotham and its situation seem more...plausible. I also like how they put a more realistic take on Batman and his villains. Instead of saying, "Oh, Batman just magically has that", we see how he gets his Batmobile (Tumbler), suit, etc.

Batman Forever starts off well, but then the campness just oozes through. 5/10
Haven't seen Batman & Robin.
Batman Begins was good but drawn out, I suppose it had to be. 9/10
The Dark Knight is one of my favourite movies ever - 10/10.

Batman '89 - 9/10 (My Favourite Joker and Batman)

Batman Returns - 8/10 (Not as good as the first, but still good)

Batman Forever - 5/10 (Just watch the bit with the swinging bank vault, from that, you know its gunna be pure fail. "Chicks dig the car" and that smile too... horrendous film, i have a list of things about it that i hate, but i doubt anyone cares :p)

Batman and Robin - 4/10 (Ice skates in the boots... just... wtf... and of course BATNIPS D: )

Batman Begins - 9/10 (In depth telling of how bruce wayne became batman, and just a brilliant film overall)

The Dark Knight - 9/10 (Almost Perfect, but twoface's death was a bit pointless "Hi im two face!"*dies* )

TDK is brilliant, and my favourite at first, i mean, if i watched them all once, then TDK would probably be best, but i can't really watch it now, because it just, idk, isnt how it was first time, all the WOW has kinda fizzled a bit. Still, it was the best at portraying batman in a more plausable world.

Completely agree bro. Mask of the Phantasm is definitely one of the top 5 of my favorite Batman films.

Batman: The Movie (A. West, B. Ward): 5/10 - I give it points for being the first Batman film (not including the serials from the 40's) but I just personally don't like it, not how I pictured the Dark Knight.

Batman '89: 8/10 - When I first saw this it scared me, I was like 5 haha but it always stuck with me and I love Burton's direction.

Batman Returns: 8/10 - The scene where the sides of the Batmobile shoot off and Batman drives through the narrow ally is what I remember most =P I loved the take on the Penguin.

Batman Forever: 6.5/10 - Only because of how it stuck with me when I was young. I don't think it was a good film by any stretch, but it's very memorable to me.

Batman and Robin: 2/10 - Even as a kid I never really like it. George Clooney is a good actor, but a terrible Batman. Never liked Arnold as Mr. Freeze. I give it points because Uma Thurman as Poison Ivy was pretty hot lol

Batman Begins: 9/10 - I think I was smiling the entire movie. It was the origin movie I always wanted, out of superhero movies in general. Down-to-earth and gritty, but not in an over-the-top kind of way.

The Dark Knight: 9.5/10 - I still love watching this film! Heath's take on the Joker is how I honestly always pictured the Joker to act: Funny in his own mind and crazy to our minds. The only thing i hated was the corny scene where Batman rides up the side of the building on the Batpod and does a quick 180. Along with a few other nit-picky things.

Special Mention:
Batman Mask of the Phantasm: 8.5 or 9/10 - First Batman film I ever saw and why I started loving Batman. The writers and artists of Batman: TAS did an amazing job with the franchise.

Sorry I went on for so long xD I can go on for days talking about Batman, especially Batman movies since the subject combines my two favorite things =)

At the age I saw it the Penguin scared me haha but now that I'm older I can appreciate what Burton did. I like him being crazy and needing to feel loved by the people while also seeking revenge for the injustice of how he was raised.
I know it makes it sound like he was justified in his actions =P but I'm sure you get what I mean.

TDK for me. Heath Ledger made it for me. I think the music was the best in a movie I've ever seen. Obviously more subtle than things like Star Wars (and the like) but the unnerving strings in total made The Joker so scary, funny and unpredictable. Every time you heard a thump and harsh discordal strings you felt his breath on the back of your neck. So eeire yet so wonderful.

The Michael Keaton saga was good for the time but looking back isn't that good.

I prefer the Adam West Batman too, it's hi-larious. No one seems to give that much credit but it's original "tongue-in-cheek" and very camp delivery. But I think it's great!
