View Full Version : Thief 1 - XP - crash!

16th Mar 2009, 03:08
I tried to observe all the regulations for asking for help, because i really need it!

New laptop - Acer Aspire One
Running XP (Home Edition)
Service Pack 3
Intel(R) 945 Express Chipset Family (i think this is the chipset i'm using)
Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator Driver for Mobile (think this is graphics card)
Intel Atom processor (i know its a baby) 1.6 Ghz
0.98 gig RAM

Trying to run:
Thief: The Dark Project v1.3

I went through all the FAQ i could find to try to get it to run correctly. Everything seems to not help, or not apply to my computer. I tried to apply the Thief v1.33 Patch, but then realized that was meant to upgrade my games version to 1.33, which it was when it installed.

What happens:
The first two times I started the game up, all the menus and videos operated correctly. (They still operate correctly.) And, these first couple times running the game, i started the training and played for a few minutes. Then it froze. Now whenever i start the training it stays at a black screen. It no longer even starts so that i can move around.

Nothing I've tried so far has worked. I can't accept that I am unable to run this game. It seems like I should be able to.

Thank you for your time. If I didn't provide necessary info, please let me know.
