Can anyone tell me what is best......

PS2 graphics or a PC and what level of PC beats the PS2?

I've a 16:9 screened 1380 wide screen on my lappy now,but shared memory for the graphics card, so this laptop is not good for game play.....

but i need another so, do i bother with a good laptop with own graphics or do i use my trusted PS2 for TRU???

ant thoughts would be welcomed !

cheers

Ian

We'd have to know how good your computer or laptop is. Not every PC or laptop will give you the best graphics. :)

Put your computer specs in the tech sub-forum for a better answer. :)

my question is,

how good is the PS2 graphics......sorry if its obvious to some of you,but not a PC geek so don't know the answer.....simple as that.

anyone best guess as to what level graphics card a PC would need to match the PS2?

thanks

PS

" I don't intent to play TRU of this laptop...for the guy above _Tomb_Raider_ if you read the text i said i was going to get another one......or do i not bother and use the PS2 instead "

Ok, a PC that is technically an equivalent to the PS2 would not be able to run TRU at all. So the worst PC you can find that is still able to run TRU somewhat fluid will make it look way better than what you see on the PS2.

Remember, the PS2 hardware is almost 9 years old.

BUT, the PS2 version has its own charme. Check out the TRU PS2 thread. :)

sorry _Tomb_Raider_ maybe i didn't understand your original answer, looked at if your where just laughing at the laptop i had ! that is why i was not impressed.

what raised this question is this:

My present laptop is a 2ghz dual core, 4 g ram but shared graphics.......866Mhz front bus

if i run 1366x768 (16:9) and high detail etc....the quality if nothing but beautiful ! how ever the game is unplayable due to the lag.

640x480 with mid detail, reflections off etc, is good, but its a shame to loose all the detail...

hence the question about the graphic quality on the PS2....as stated its old hat now, 9 years....thats soon gone ! !

thanks

Some pics of the PS2 game in this thread (http://forums.eidosgames.com/showthread.php?t=85581)... look at the ones after the first page to get a good idea of what it's like. It's not as good as the PC version, or the Xbox360/PS3 versions, but it's charming in its own way.

The PC and PS2 versions are not exactly the same game. Some sections are different and there are people who have said they actually prefer some parts of the PS2 version to the next-gen equivalent. So, there is an argument for buying both versions.
