The summation sign is used incorrectly. It's Sigma and pronounced as Latin "S". For the life of me, I don't know why everyone insists on using Greek letters incorrectly. Just because it somewhat looks like an "E"... Epsilon in "Joyeuses" is correct, though.

That's all I know about it.

Edit: Thanks, Rene and the rest of EM.

It's just a fun way we are presenting things some times. If you want to play around, they are special Ascii characters (Hold Alt + number from the right keypad of the keyboard)

( f ) alt+159 ƒ
( a ) alt+166 ª
( E ) alt+228 Σ
( e ) alt+238 ε
( t ) alt+231 τ
( o ) alt+248 °
( o ) alt+229 σ
( v ) alt+251 √
( N ) alt+239 ∩
( ae ) alt+146 Æ

I welcome the change in the domain name. If someone was to read the old one, it sounds like an even sleazier sequel to a sleazy adult movie. The new one at least hints at a first person shooter of some kind.

And to think, all that could have been lost with a single dash added to the name during domain registration.

In Russia, it is considered bad luck to wish Happy New Year or Happy Birthday early.

And yes, in Soviet Russia, New Year celebrates you. At least, that's what it always feels like the day (or a few) after.

Brings to mind Final Fantasy XIXXXIVIXXIV coming to a box near you.

I don't know-guess I have mixed feelings about numbers as to naming each series. We can always still call it Deus Ex: Rise of the Flying Cats or something like that but most people will know we would be speaking of Deus Ex 5 or 6.

Most people. :D

In terms of a movie or book, the movie rights were optioned in 2002 but nothing came of it. However, as you know, Warner Bros. owns part of Eidos so if DX3 is a huge hit, you never know!!

I'd also suggest adding David Weber into the mix somewhere as well, if he weren't so busy working on the next few Honor Harrington/Saganami Island*/Crown of Slaves books.

He can write some good characters (at least in the Honorverse - I haven't read any of his other stuff), and has a deviousness in plotlines that is keeping us Honor fanatics guessing (usually wrong).

*eARC for Storm From the Shadows is already available (book is due on the shelves early next year), and I HATE CLIFFHANGERS!!!!

Oh man. David Weber?

I guess it'd be OK if there was only one book.

You just know if there was more than one by the end of say... book three Adam Jensen would be reporting directly to the president, a top spy, a world class cellist, a deadly accurate pistol duelist and sword fighter, a patron of the arts, the twentieth earl of Winbourne...

I think rather than a "novel of" I'd like to see short stories set in the world.

Get Ken Macleod to write at least one.

Maybe David Weber could step in every now and then, but Zahn is great at solid stand-alone novels and Ringo does awesome Military SciFi. I think having three authors on one book would be crazy. xD

Greg Pruss, four characters, etc.

As for a book series...that'd be pretty cool. I know William C. Dietz is an AMAZING author when it comes to video game books...or you could travel back in time and get David Michaels to write them (BEFORE he wrote Splinter Cell: Checkmate and Fallout...)

I'm somewhat suspicious of practices like 'optioning rights' for some tie-in of a game or, well, anything really. It often seems like certain big companies enjoy sitting on an interesting copyrighted piece of work so no one else can do anything with it.
Personal opinion, of course.
