It looks like EA may not be buying out anyone anymore.

It seems the tables have turned on them.

EA are laying people off at the moment, which is sad because they've gone from being a franchise shovelware machine to being a pretty decent publisher.

DRM backlash? Sentiment can spread from customers to investors.

Common sense dictates that Walt Disney isn't going to blow 1.7 BILLION (That's EA's worth after the stock drops) on a videogame franchise.

I'd wonder if that would be okayed by the Monopolies and Merger Commision. Ok, not really...

I've heared video games' sales should not be affected by the crisis? Good to know for EM they need to sell their first game well.

I think you're mistaken. I'm sure they were worth $19 billiob before the stock drop and now they're worth around $7.2billion. They are still a very large 3rd party publisher. I think its Activision-Blizzard thats the 1st then EA then Ubiosft. Not too sure though :)

Anyway no-one said EA was going to buy out Eidos.

It would be funny if EA bought EM and Disney bought EA, then Warren Spector would be on DX3 yet again

So, any news on the Eidos/Ubisoft mystery?

(For those who don't know: Ubi's support site offers support for Eidos games also. Not any other publishers, just Ubi's own games and Eidos games.)

Anyone buying EA could be good. It seems like who ever is at the top over there is out of touch with the fan base. A buyer would probably start axing redundant post-merger jobs with the expensive, expendable suits at the top.
