View Full Version : Dedicated Servers and Punkbuster?

Saw the video awhile ago, someone posted a link to it in my forums. I was quite impressed and still am impressed by BS:M. That being said the cheaters swoped in quickly and killed an otherwise excellent game. Any support for PB or any thing else?

Will there be a dedicated server? I would have loved to leave up BS:M so people could play but alias it never was.

i've never saw a cheater at BSM well except teamkillers

and you shouldn't worry

microsoft has the best tech to deal with all kinds of cheaters

I have the videos and not looking any arguments cause this was source of contention before.

i don't think punkbuster is from microsoft

so might be another anti cheat program

and i think dedicated server is a good idea

don't know why people even put it up though

just watch other people play

It is a gamer thing. Same reason I run a BF42, CoD and BF2 servers. To let people have place to play 24/7. It is giving back to the gaming community. If I have the means to put up a server and someone does not, then they can play on mine.

0.001% chance of having dedicated server for BS:P. That's my "bet".

there is/was a trainer for BSM that could be used in mp (but only version 1.0 or so)
and only host could use it

but since then there is nothing i know of
(apart from the BB glitch on solomon witch only works on xbox)

the only thing they should fix is the high latency thing

and connection

because in my opinioin no one should have a medium or bad connection to any servers

cause when i play different games , servers only matters on ping

so that it what they should have, not some stupid connection to another country

Your going to have medium to bad coneections on any game you play. I get good connection on servers in the UK. Ping numbers would be better then the three dot system they implemented with BS:M. But then the three dot system was better then nothing which is what they had before the patch.

I think technically BS:M (and probably BS:P) has an issue with network bandwidth. PING does not really matter a lot, more the temporary "bottleneck" in the internet connection in terms of throughput. This is what makes the "High Latency Thing".

If you think it over this game has much much more units on the map than typical multiplayer FPS titles. Moreover it is not an RTS where you won't really notice a little "lag" for a few units but in BS if you drive that particular one it's a big problem.

All in all scope here is huge.
