So by now I think we're all familiar with the work of Thierry "BARoNTiERi" Doizon (http://www.barontieri.com/), who provided us with the first official piece of concept art for DX3 (http://www.denis-talbot.com/images/jeux/Deus_Ex/Deus_Ex_3/Deus_Ex_3_Mr_Net_Background.JPG).

Yet, no one seems to have noticed that this was not the only thing Thierry gave us: on his DeviantArt page (http://barontieri.deviantart.com/art/DX3-Lab-86296926), Thierry also revealed two other artists working on DX3:

Jim Murray (http://www.jimmurrayart.com/)

and

Rainart (http://www.rainfx.com/)

While searching their galleries for possible DX3 art yields no results, some of their work might provide clues on the direction they might take.

First off, Jim Murray's art for the unreleased Virgin Interactive game Falcone: Maelstrom

Cyberpunk enough for ya?

There's also these:

http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/2928/bug1es8.th.jpg (http://img99.imageshack.us/my.php?image=bug1es8.jpg) http://img225.imageshack.us/img225/4735/redbugracerva8.th.jpg (http://img225.imageshack.us/my.php?image=redbugracerva8.jpg)http://img75.imageshack.us/img75/2158/bugracerfinalcopyni9.th.jpg (http://img75.imageshack.us/my.php?image=bugracerfinalcopyni9.jpg)

Disregarding the whole "mini" theme, these give us a glimpse into Jim's idea of mecha-design. Just like BARoNTiERi, he seems to be quite fond of Masamune Shirow ;)

Next, Rainart. I had a bit of trouble finding relevant stuff, as most of his art seems to be either fantasy or far future megastructures. But I did discover this little gem, which made me whimper in extasy:

DX with a bit of Bladerunner flavour? SIGN ME UP!

I talked about the artists at Eidos Montréal with René. They really are talented and M.D'Astous is fond of their work. I had the opportunity to see a few of them and they're very promising. The last one is outstanding.

(Please send me an PM to give this thread a title and add it to the list).

This could really rock.

That's all I'll say right now.

I really don't like the work of Jim Murray but I love that Reinart stuff.

Wow, if DX3 looked like that last pic, it would be amazing.

Excellent detective work, van_HellSing! The team here is über talented, though their personal portfolios may or may not reflect the DX3 artistic direction. But I agree that this stuff kicks ass so nice work sharing it with everyone!

The first two pictures remind me of early Deus Ex 1 concept arts. :)

I love seeing the Syd Mead (who worked on Blade Runner, among many others) influences — anyone not familiar with him but is into cyberpunk/futurist-style art should check him out. He's an icon in the design field, and it would be pretty kewl if he did some work on DX3. (He's apparently contributing to Blue Mars, a virtual world.)

Good stuff imo. Though I don't think that EM is quite going in that direction. Understandable I guess cause its a prequel. Who knows, if DX3 turns out to be as awesome as I hope, and sells like crazy, then maybe somebody will make another cyber-punk style game with a style like those pics.

GmanPro - this thread is from before the big media blowout, when we still only had that one concept art of the lab. We knew nothing about the cyber-renaissance theme of DX3 back then :).

True...

Still think that there is a whole ton of un-tapped potential with the cyber punk theme. More companies should make games with this style imo.

Does anyone know who was responsible for the [New] Shanghai city concept art? I love that piece.

What I like about Rainart is the the epic feel of many of his images: small silhouettes of people against massive structures or environments. If Rainart was chosen for this quality then that's a good sign...:)
