You noe i juss thought of having this mission as a challenge on battlestations pacific, what do you guys think?

It was a very boring mission in real life, would be hard for it to be done with becoming 'holywood fantasy' and them turning it to some kind of farse.

The actual mission they just flew for hours met minimal resistance (only AA was a threat which downed a few) and then many of them run out of fuel.

There are plenty of missions that could be made real and be far more challenging.

Just my opinion.

I kinda agree. I mean, how hard can the mission be? For like 10 minutes you'd be flying with absolutely nothing in sight. By the time you see mainland Japan, you're like, "ABOUT F**KING TIME!". Then you get a few seconds of joyous bombing the hell out of stuff on the ground, and then you fly off into the sunset.

Where's the challenge???

Hey guys, that is my dream since I've ever heart from BSP

1. Eliminate the armor from the B25 and arming with 225kg bombs(Editor)...there would be a test airfield for the length of the Hornet...(like in "Pearl Harbor")

2. Starting from the Hornet like in "Pearl Harbor"

3. Flying over the sea. You're about 10-15 minutes absolutely alone.

4. You can see the coast of Japan. You have to destroy about 5 factories.

5. You're under attack from the Flak...searching a cloud.

6. The chinese sea!! You're again 10 minutes alone.

7. Youre fuel is low.

8. Suddenly, you can see the coast of China.

9. Both of your engines are out. You glide and make an emergency landing.

10. Shooting down a lot of Japanese with your mg's:nut:

That would be a dream come true!!!:nut: :D :lmao: :)

Your making me tear up Colosseum :(

But in other words the Doolittle raid would be boring, unless you horrible modify it like bomb godzilla or something.

how about the Dam Busters?
a pilot challenge

Thing about that is that I think dropping a skip-bomb is the exact same as dropping a torpedo - fly low, drop the bomb, and let it skip along. The only difference is that a torpedo runs underwater and doesn't skip.

Dropping a bouncing bomb on target needed alot more skill then dropping a torpedo. Plus you have to master flying low in a hilly area with **** loads of AA fire

...so it would make a hell of a challenge?

Okay, like what? Apart from the bomb descending to a preset depth before exploding, it's practically identical (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Dambstrajj.gif). The only factors that would really change would be things like the physics of the water, which, as we know from BSM, are non-existent.

In terms of gameplay, give me two main differences between torpedo bombing and skip bombing.

Well this is BSM so its just a case of pushing a button

What would you have to do in BS:P when skip bombing?

Nothing, I dont even know why it was suggested :o

Well, let's look at it this way:

Torpedo Bombing
-Fly at a low altitude to your target.
-Drop your torpedo.
-Torpedo runs underwater to target.
-Torpedo explodes.

Skip Bombing
-Fly at low altitude to your target.
-Drop your bomb.
-Bomb skips across water to target.
-Bomb explodes.

Difference? Aside from being a bomb versus being a torpedo, and how one strikes at the belt and one strikes underwater, there IS no difference gameplay-wise.

Ahh the bouncing bomb had to dropped a the right distance due to its extremely short range. To far the bomb drops to early and does no damage, no close the bomb explodes when it hits the dam and causes face damage.

But you cant fly too low but nor can you fly too high.

Face it Arrow, it takes more skill to use (accurately) a bouncing bomb over a run of the mill torpedo

Maybe in real life, but that isn't how torpedoes work in BSM.

Well yes, but you asked what difercence in skill it would take when using the two very different weapons.

For the sake of gameplay then yes they are the same, but in reality its a whole differnet story

You'll also likely be at a high altitude anyway. If people are desperate for the Doolittle raid, it'd be more interesting to play as the Japanese. Or maybe something similar to Air Superiority at Luzon, only with the bombers playable and unescorted by navy fighters.
