Yup. I just bought 400 dollars worth of computer parts to run my rig up to speed (8800 graphics card ^-^)

How are YOU guys doing on the graphics/RAM speed department?

Well you probably should have waited for another year, at least, before buying anything.

Yeah lol, in a year you will be able to buy the same thing for a quarter of the price.

I'm just going to buy a new computer when Spore comes out. Not to promote spamming or anything, but I tend to find ibuypower.com tends to have the absolute best prices for computers, and to boot, they're completely customizable. =)

..again I am playing games NOW that require good graphics. Deus Ex 3 isnt the only game I'm waiting for (not saying it isnt the MOST ANTICIPATED though)

I have a quad core processor, a nv8800GTS and 2Gb of ram at 1024Hz.. When DX3 comes out, i will probably buy 1 more graphic card, for half the price a bought this card.. I hope DX3 takes advantage of multiple cores!!

Right now I'm thinking about replacing my 8800GTS with Radeon HD4850, which blows away all 88xx and 98xx nvidia cards (X2 excluded). And to think about it, it costs just a bit under 170€. A real good bargain! Not to mention the monstrous potential of upgrading it with another same card and coupling them into CrossFire!

Nvidia has yet to answer this attack... Or ATI will take all the middle-end customers away. Seems like they are pulling "6600gt" on nVidia if you remember what happened couple of years ago ;)

I purchased my setup around Christmas last year. Main performance parts:
2gb (2 x 1gb) dual channel DDR2-800 RAM
8800GT graphics card
E6750 2.66GHz dual core processor

I wanted to get the E6850 3.0GHz but I had a pretty limited budget and the cost difference was just ridiculous. I'm actually really happy on the value-for-money I ended up getting. It's definitely not even close to the best thing on market right now, but it was the third top graphics card at the time and most of it is fairly high-end. I would have liked to have a higher budget to just go all-out with faster quad-core processor though. Maybe 4gb of RAM. Probably not SLi though. That's a little too unrealistic for me.

my pc is outdated, not that much, but I think it is 2 years old by now.
But that doesn't matter now, coz I'm always playing the same games over and over (namely Sid Meier games, Deus Ex, the Jagged Alliance and the Gothic series), but I guess I purchase new hardware when DX 3 hits the shelves, which will take some more time as we know. In the meanwhile I'm hoping the new German RPG Drakensang won't overstrain my ressources.

Yeah im pretty happy with what I got for the money, now I wont have to worry about playing games like TF2, Diablo III, SC2, Deus Ex 3, COD4, anything using some seriously sweet graphics, you know.

So please don't mislead us with this thread title, since it's obvious you mainly upgraded your PC for other games.:p

Unless DX3 uses graphics significantly better than Crysis, he is still set for DX3 as the title states.

At the moment I have a dual core AMD with 3.0Gb Ram and a XFX Nvidia GeForce 7900GT. It is pretty old and outdated now but I can still play most games on high quality settings. Games such as COD4, Assassins Creed etc...

I will probably wait until just before DX3 releases before I upgrade, I think that will give me the best performance for money in the long run. So long as I can run games until then.

Well what I mean is that I am defiently set for DX3, I just got my stuff early to play other P.C. games I have procrastinated on because of my (terrible) computer. :P

My computer is 3 years old, but there's no reason (game) for me to upgrade any of it at the moment. All the games I have run just fine.

Games have sort of hit a performance wall at the moment too (because games are multiplatform and the 360 hardware won't get better), so I have no doubt I will be able to play Deus Ex 3 on this comp too. Well, unless it would require Vista and DX10, but I don't think that's likely.

Have you ever heard of Crysis?

Have you ever heard of Crysis?

Is Crysis a multiplatform game? I think that was the point Freddo was trying to get across.

Besides, Crysis blows ;)

I own a Quad-Core intel processor, a 8800 GeForce Graphic Card with 320Mb of memory and 3Gb of memory. I can play MAss Effect on 1680x1050 resolution on max graphic settings with no lags so I suppose I can have some good hopes for DX3.
