Needless to say, the grenade round demonstrated in the second video is, horrific.

this is 100 times better than the DX1 assault shotgun, which was pretty close to a classic riot shotgun from South Africa.

The assault shotgun's been around for ages, by various manufacturers ;) It's not like that was really a sci-fi element.

this is a bit of a step up from previous assault shotguns, you have to admit that

The SPAS 12, over rated as it was, had a 240rpm auto function, though I do have to agree that that thing would make a welcome addition to my inventory. Assuming they put the rest of that drum mag to some use.

Just type Pancor Jackhammer in Google Images.

Slight problem: that thing would take ages to reload and last I checked they only made about 20 of them. Says so http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/RareGuns (here) in the examples. Now can someone remind me how to show hyperlinks under a different guise? I used to be so good at this BB crap but then forgot most of it.

Ages to reload? The AA12 uses a drum magazine, which can be locked in and detached like any other magazine. Also, the "20" number is just prototypes, the company is still running, and can produce more. The starting batch is never a few thousand guns, they're not sure if the military will buy them, no matter how confident they make themselves sound on television.

I was refering to the jackhammer. I never really saw it's appeal when there were so many other options available.

We have the Korean USAS 12 that looks to the American assault rifles, but the Jackhammer it the only with a true drum magazine.
We can put drum magazines in several guns like assault rifles

The DX 1 shotgun acts like the MM1 grenade launcher in the reload sequence and like a classic shotgun in fire, even if the reloading sequence is the same if we fire all shells or only one shell.
I think the true inconvenient of these loaders are the weight, and it makes the weapons harder to aim, but we can fire more shots before reloading.
Drum magazines can upgrade assault rifle capacity up to 50/75/100 rounds
For the shotguns the AA12 / USAS 12 have a better capacity than the jackhammer
20 vs 10
DX 1 shotgun have 12 shells if I remember
Most weapons in games doesn't use some improvements because we haven't the same inconvenient ..
