Raiders, if you are really interested in influencing TR development then here's your options:
A) you need to have an over-the-top, rock solid idea for TRU, or
B) you can make a case for (or against) re-imagining the Dagger of Xian to follow Underworld.

Underworld development is now like a huge ocean-liner already at sea- changes in its course or itinerary would only be associated with significant unforeseen events. there's always a chance that a raider here has a game-worthy idea so keep posting, elsewhere. This thread is about what should follow Underworld. Specifically, should the Dagger of Xian be re-imagined?

Re-imagining the Dagger of Xian would need to start right about now ...

things to consider:
(1) The entire Legend synopsis, including for example, the fact that Amanda was able to decipher the Avalon mystery independently and ahead of Lara, the fact that Lara now possesses the Unknown Entity and Excalibur and all the stuff about her Father and Mother.

(2) The re-imagined TRA created a backstory linking Lara's Father, the Scion and made casual references to the disappearance of Lara's mother.

(3) TRU will attempt to resolve questions left hanging at the end of Legend: remember Lara's father was right about everything (not mad) and there may still be time to do something about it! Also, Prof. Eddington will meet Lara at the museum and he'll know why (presumably to review related collected and uncollected artifacts and theories) ... and so on.

(4) if Xian is be re-imagined then it needs a hook. there are plenty of reasons to consider the re-imagining but we need a story line hook. For example, could there be a connection or commonality to the dagger magic and Excalibur? Are these remotely connected to the Scion?? Did Bartoli have remote knowledge of the Scion a/o Avalon with regard to a rationale for immortality??? ... and so on.

Let's face it, a next-gen re-imagining of the Dagger of Xian is simple, since the roadmap is already there. it would allow more time for properly developing the Legend/Underworld storyline. it would provide yet another opportunity to fill-in Lara's backstory and smooth out rough edges left in the wake of Underworld. it would satisfy the fans. it would give CD (and Toby) even more credibility in terms of the "real" Lara story.

After Underworld's awesomeness, can you even imagine what the dagger would be like?

Rabid you always have the most interesting ideas. On par with what I've been thinking about.

A Lara Croft relative as a villain maybe Errol Croft. Family feud on a global Tomb Raider scale. Possibly being responsible for sabotaging Lara's and her mothers plane at the beginning of legend likewise killing Lord Richard Croft while he searched for his wife and daughter. To inherit the Croft's Estate and title of Count. Perhaps a trinket in the Crofts Manor an Artifact of great importance to the beginning and future of humanity. I,e leading to the location of the Garden of Eden and the Tree of Life and the Tree of Knowledge. Which is Adam and Eve first temptation. Lara is also intrigued. Lets things play out to find out most pagan gods were mortals at one time who became immortal once eating the forbidden fruit/nectar/ ambrosia.

Racing to get an artifact. Lara Croft having a run in with authorities For Tomb Raiding, accused of International crime. Lara would need to clear her name.

Or a local government hire Ms. Croft to retrieve a stolen artifact the way only Lara know how.

To link it to Bartoli, you'd have to figure on Lara's father having met him at some point early in his career. Mafia-types always have fronts that do the legitimate operations, giving the appearance of legitimacy, while much more goes on behind the scenes.

It's entirely possible that Lord Richard Croft was employed by a business operating as a front for Bartoli's "Fiamma Nera" organization/cult. Things started innocently enough: Richard was probably employed to find the Dagger in exchange for information concerning his wife (and, of course, some money, since nothing happens for free) under the impression that the artifact would be turned over to a museum. However, clues and information not only revealed the dagger's true power, but who the real mastermind was behind this charade and Bartoli's true intentions.

Bartoli, having discovered that his real purpose had been revealed, ordered an execution on Richard to keep him quiet. The death had been a mysterious incident of some sort, possibly a contrived accident, and a thorough cover-up hid everything....

....or so they thought, until Lara stumbled onto the situation and started putting two-and-two together. From there, things got rather....interesting.

From that alone, you could create a "Dagger of Xian" adventure.

Oh who am I kidding I can't contain myself till next week. Continuing from the plane...

While she waits for the crew to finish inspections, a British agent makes his way to Ms. Croft's plane. He spots someone familiar within the crew, but continues on. He boards the plane to find Lara deep in thought wearing a stunning outfit, he introduces himself as Agent D and tells her she must exit the plane, Lara ignores him and a tells him she has no time for solicitors. Pilots start engines and get the OK for take off. Agent D has no choice but to tag along, Ms. Croft gives him a warning. Agent D tells her that she is in danger and he has been assigned to protect her, he has a safe plane waiting in the adjacent runway. A crewman Shuts the entrance and Plane moves. Conversation continues and he tells Ms. Croft she has a secret admirer who wants her dead, a real scoundrel, Big time villain they've been tracking for years (an elusive character as of yet not Errol). She tells him thats always the case and that this news is nothing new and she can take care of herself. Plane takes flight and Lara tells Agent D to have a drink on her. Lara looks Agent D over and likes what she sees, James Bond/ Same Fisher/Austin Power(psych) not Austin Powers/ Rutland all rolled into one. Plane flies over Croatia when the Co-pilot take a pistol with a silencer and takes the Pilot out. Puts on a Parachute he sneaked on board and sabotages the instrument panel, plus another saboteur on the ground stuck a bomb to the landing gear. This dirt bag really wants Ms. Croft to have a bumpy ride. Co pilot dude makes his way back to the cabin where Agent D and our heroine are opens the exit and jumps off. Plane goes out of control at this point, Agent D heads for the cockpit and finds pilot dead, tries flying the plane but controls don't work, meanwhile Ms. Croft is calm and sees Co pilot free falling down to earth. Ms. Croft is always prepared and has a parachute in a hidden compartment, but only has one. Agent D shows signs of desperation and tries to come up with ideas. Lara straps the chute on him cradles him and both jump off. Just then Co-pilot dude pushes button triggers the bomb and the plane is shrapnel. Co-pilot dude pulls the cord on his chute. Agent D does so as well. Lara Croft sees co-pilot and figures she can catch him, lets go of D and free falls towards co-pilot dude. Bad guy is calm and doesn't see our hero coming. Agent D is freaked and trails them. Our heroine zeros in and nabs him from behind, a battle ensues and Croft gets him in a choke hold. Nearing a Mountain top Co-pilot dude releases the chute and Lara is pulled off, the chute collapses and she now plummets, co- pilot now thinks she's done for and pulls the second chute to safety. Agent D releases primary chute and dives for our heroine just in time D grabs her hand he pulls the second chute cord and saves her from an untimely death. Lara clings to his broad shoulders and both gaze at one another in a romantic scene. Lara snaps out of it and jumps to the snow below as soon as its just within reach. Agent D gives her an I told you so look... To be Continued

I was thinking it would be cool if a player could have control as soon as she left Agent D's arms but that would require a steady hand and button pressing. So I think player control should come once on the ground/snow. Once grounded the player must explore the mountain and somehow make his way to Co-pilot dude. One done so game inters another cutscene helicopter comes to pick up Co-pilot dude creating a snow cloud which Lara and D use as cover to take Co pilot and the helicopter crew out. The crew over takes them and are Croft and D are captured. They are blindfolded and held in an bunker. Lara awakens blindfolded and D is breaking loose. He leaves for the moment and promises to comeback with help. D makes his way out of the facility and makes contact with his fellow agents. D is discovered and a fight breaks out, D holds them off until help arrives British special forces arrive and establish a perimeter. Bad guys figure out D's out and wonders where Croft is, they make they're way to where Lara and D where held. D and small group try to beat them to it, both teams make it to the chair Lara was tied to and find Lara's gone. Dumbfounded they hear a Lara's voice out side and she plows through both teams and steals a chopper. Blows both teams of men a good bye kiss and she's gone. D and the leader of the bad guys are stupefied, Both teams fall withdraw the attack. Upon arriving home Lara has Zip and Alister research a agent named D and lookup a data base of interpol most wanted list hoping she might find her Co-pilot. Lara goes to court and defends her title and her fathers estate. Errol was absent and was represented by his Son(still working on the Name). He seemed particularly interested in a Castle Once own by Richard Croft past down by his Grandfather. Lara uses the castle to hone her skills on occasion but thought she had explored it top to bottom. Nothing interesting was ever found. Just then she has a flashback of her first visit said castle with her father years past. In it her father met Errol to discuss something, She and her cousin (Errol's son) were at play, her father yells, "Be Careful every time she goes out of sight. Her cousin had a knack for getting her into troubled situations. Reaching the the bottom of some stairs her cousin triggers a trap door and falls in Lara goes after him. They reach an old dungeon underneath the castle........

l would love to play a next gen version of Tomb Raider 2, but it needs no hook, that it involves an ancient artifact capable of transforming a person into a dragon, as well as opening a door to other dimensions would be enough to tie it into the current direction. It would be pointless to connect it with Avalon or the scion since they have nothing to do with the story, and likely nothing to do with Underworld. Having played the revisioned Dagger of Xian, the idea of travelling to other dimensions, and exploring the heavens would come as no surprise. l am starting to doubt we will get a remake now anyway, Crystal Dynamics have their new technology sorted out and at the rate they make games they are probably already working on TR9, and will not have time to remake any more games, l would much rather play a new game anyway.

l also doubt if TRU is going to be answering to many questions from Legend, if it manages to answer the question of who the unknown entity is (Qualopec?), and give us some of his story l will be happy. And hopefully the mystery of where Tihocan is will be answered, if not l can wait, the answer is bound to turn up at some point.

... that the Scion, Excalibur and the Dagger of Xian all possess unknown mystery/magic, perhaps with a common origin is a fantastic hook. in X, Lara could deal with the dagger and not associate it at all with the Scion. It could, for example, be the basis for a flashback sequence in the sequel to Underworld. this later flashback could provide the understanding that would mildly link various artifacts. great storyline, thanks!

Well their magics don't necessarily have to be linked to a common origin. They could perhaps be keys to a lock or something.

Well here goes I try to type it as using the exact wording I used the first time.

Continuing from when they fell into the trap door.
Young Lara finds her self in a very and I mean Very dark place. No light at all. Her eyes dilate and she is able to barely see, she hears her cousin coughing... She calls out to him through the darkness he answers back... She hears a mans voice saying, "Lara" and she finds herself back in the courtroom.. The judge rules in her favor, but she feels she's driven a bigger rift between her relatives. Alister asks Lara if she's alright. She answers, "Yes" they head back to Croft Manor.. Lara rummages through the Estate looking for a clue to what her Uncle seeks there. She eventually finds something, documents pertaining to that castle and her earliest ancestor living there, and his rise to power in Britain. They are references to something by the name of the 3rd key. She tells Winston to schedule a meeting with the caretaker of the castle and she'll meet them there. ..

Lara Croft gears up and heads for the castle. She arrives at a cottage south of the castle and treks the rest of the way there. The castle is visible at a distance and get closer with every step. Once there Winston and the caretaker a Mr. Smithson is at the castle's entrance to meet her. Ms. Croft asks him if he knew if the artifact known as the 3rd key was ever held in its walls. Mr. Smithson replies he never heard of it. Mr. Smithson welcomes our heroine to the grounds and is free to look about. With that she explores the castle's interior and heads for the stairs where her cousin triggered the trap door. Once triggered we jump in the door closing behind her. Her own personal light source allow her to see what she traversed blindly. The place is dark even with the aid of a light, thicken with spiderwebs, crawling with all the critters you'd expect down there. Spiders, rats, millipedes, and worms and roaches. She explores the corridors and rooms, we find a dungeon with prisoners still captive(serving a 500 year sentence), now only their bones remain. We also find an armory in which swords, bows, arrow, spears plenty enough to stage a small war. In this armory Ms. Croft adds a crossbow and dagger to our arsenal. The place looks like people abandoned the place in a hurry. Our search leads us to a chasm with a cannon at its edge, on the other side is what looks like a cave-in. Boulders block a door behind the debris, with no apparent way to cross. A cannon ball sits on the floor beside the cannon(its a clue) we backtrack toward the rooms looking for any artillery components. We find some gunpowder and wadding, in our search, just then a noise startles Lara. Quick to draw her pistols she pinpoints its source, to be around a corner. The sound gets louder, when its near she jumps to face it. It is Agent D, puzzling, Ms. Croft asks him what his purpose is, and how did he know of this place. Agent D tells her, he researched files and manuscripts on the Crofts and said castle amongst others, when asked to take on this assignment. Ms. Croft doesn't seem convinced, she figures she could use him and his knowledge to her advantage in the meantime. She loads the cannon, Agent D helps with that and aiming. They fire the cannon and blast the debris and the door open simultaneously cracking the sides of the walls allowing them to shimmy across to the other end. In the next room they are met with ice, beneath them is a frozen pool, and in it is a dragon frozen in hibernation. They are careful not to crack the pool and walk across to the other end. They enter a much smaller room with pools of water that are somehow link to the frozen one. Ms. Croft reads the inscriptions on the walls in order to solve it. Which she does, underneath a fountain is a trident. Lara removes it after which the pools drain and the ice starts melting. The dragon turns red and heats up, the water begins to evaporate creating steam. Lara and agent D figure its time to go as the room starts shaking. Blocking their escape is a red flaming winged Dragon. Flames cover the beast head to tail. Agent D and Ms. Croft open fire, a battle takes place. This dragon is formidable not only is he Huge but fast and agile. With no room to fly it runs up and down the walls and ceiling making him a difficult target. He clings to the ceiling or walls when he is about to fire his lungful of flames at us. He claws us and whips us with his tail. After we are able to bring him down once and get a false sense of security he rises yet again for round two. Just when it seems like a losing battle our hero gets clever and decides to read the inscription on the trident. unlocking its powers of water, ice, and earthquakes. Water begins to flow out from the trident, soon becoming a torrent. She puts out the dragons flames, but the dragon is still a fighting beast. He's even faster and stronger, like a cornered lion. Lara masters the tridents freezing ability and uses it to bind it. The Dragon is unable to move, then the ceiling is blown away by explosives. The first major Villain makes his appearance with a bang. Goons zip down and corner them. The villain makes his demand, hand over the trident or the hostages get it, Winston and Mr. Smithson are captive. Lara agrees in exchange for the hostages, a goon steps in to take the trident. Lara looks like she means it, however the Dragon sees things a little different. He breaks free and whips the trident into the air. The villain snatches it with a weird weapon, and retreats at this point taking the hostages with him. Lara and Agent D fight the multiple enemies heading for their zip lines to climb out. Goons are taken out and the dragon gives chase after our heroes. reaching the top they race away. Lara sees explosive that didn't explode and the trigger laying on the ground she quickly triggers the last bomb and buries the dragon in stones. Agent D offers his assistance in aiding to rescue the hostages. She holds a pistol to his head....

Lara can't help but feel used. Our heroine is in a foul mood and suspects D had something to do with all thats happened. She attempts to interrogate D. A helicopter hovers near them and D's men rush to his aid. They point their guns at her. Agent D tells them to stand down, he then tells Lara he is a member of MI5 assigned to protect her. A week prior to his assignment GCHQ and Interpol intercepted a communication between a man with several aliases, believed to be Sylvan Alexandros, came in contact with an unknown individual within the U.K. Key words like the 3rd key raised many eyebrows among the European members of Interpol. He tells her about her ancestor finding a lost manuscript of Aristotle sometime during the first crusade. Her ancestor believed it lead to the Garden of Eden, though he never found it. A few centuries later down the Croft lineage another Croft used the manuscript and found the 3rd key. It was kept within the castle, it was abandoned by his grandson later. D tells Lara there is still time to save Winston and Mr. Smithson. Lara holsters her guns, D tells her to board the helicopter. She asked where Alexandros was headed. D's men tracked them boarding a cruise ship en route for France for renovation. They believe the ship is really his private means of escape. Lara and agent D are escorted to a submarine and trail the cruise liner. The plan is D and Lara sneak aboard rescue the hostages and retrieve the trident. They wear scuba gear and pack a few essentials. The sub surfaces at a distance and they exit via the conning tower, they hold on for dear life as the sub accelerates and dives just under the cruise liner. Ms. Croft and D let go and stealthily climb on board. They get rid themselves of the scuba gear and diving suit. They deliver a one two punch and take out the mercs. D changes into Merc clothing Lara states its not her color. They separate we could be Agent D or Lara and chose our path to the front of the ship. Lara takes the exterior of the ship climbing out of the port holes and jumping from one to the next. Agent D sneaks past them through the ships interior. D reaches the Alexandros first, taking aim Alexandros turns to D and tells him Winston and Mr. Smithson have been tied to the ships anchor. Should he fire his men will.....

Alexandros men will drop anchor and drown the hostages. Agent D is beside himself, does he let the hostages drown or kill Alexandros. He drops his guns on the ground. Alexandros laughs, his men approach him from behind and subdue him. Meanwhile Lara releases a life raft onto the waters below makes her way to the hostages uses her knife and cuts their hands loose. She tells them to head for the life raft and head for shore as soon as she cuts them free of the anchor. Winston and Mr. Smithson Understand and "agree" Winston tells Lara to take care of herself he'll inform Zip and Alister of the situation. Alexandros wonders where Ms. Croft is, asks Agent D of course he refuses to answer. His instinct tells him to lower the anchor. He commands his men to do so at this point. Agent D thinking the hostages are doomed tries to break free from the two blokes restraining him. The Anchor is released. Lara and the hostages have escaped. Alexandros is irritated by what he sees. Winston and Mr. Smithson are on a raft. He hears a click Lara has a gun on him, he congratulates her on valiant rescue. She climbs over the rail and wants the trident returned since it is not with him. Her cousin answers her demand with a rude, "No, I think I'll hold on to it a bit longer" Lara and D are Aghast to discover her cousin Ethan was involved. Ethan exclaims, "Are you surprise, dear cousin!" He explains a great deal, it would appear that he did not fall into that dungeon by accident. In fact his father Errol was looking for it, and the trident until her father Richard intervened that day he fell in. While their parents argued he took it upon himself to find it, to Lara and her father he appeared to be innocently playing about. Lara ruined their plans by falling along with him. Alexandros steps in and steels his thunder saying, "Nice speech, but I have no time for your family reunion, It is only one key two more are needed and only I know where they all are", D finally gets free and takes the mercs guns aims them at Ethan(Errol's Son). Lara does not wish for her cousin to be shot, tries reasoning with Ethan. Yet another Villain enters the scene is one of Alexandros' men he carries another strange weapon musical in origin by the looks of it, like a scepter with holes like a flute and strings like a guitar, also the top has a weird opening. His weapon looks like it's made out of gold. He doesn't speak just bangs it against the side of the ship the scepter resonates loudly and the whole cruise liner amplifies the sound. The weapon vibrates rapidly and a shock wave knocks them off their feet. Lara and D are temporarily deaf. Alexandros takes this opportunity to disarm our heroes. Ethan hands him the trident and he demonstrates its full potential. The seas start churning rocking the ship side to side. His eyes glow a deep blue color, like the sea. He explains the hostages were just a ploy to lure Lara on board as for the submarine it will be destroyed soon. Then a Sea creature rises from beneath the waves (like the one from the film Clash of the Titans) Submarine in hand he begins ripping it to shreds. Lara and D can only look in horror. They hear the men screaming inside, sirens, and explosions from within the sub. Winston and Mr. Smithson look on from their raft. The creature then drags it down with him....

Back to our heroine aboard the ship, time has passed and we find D and Lara imprisoned deep within it. Days later they reach the coast north of Naples, Alexandros orders Ethan and 2nd Villain to stay aboard the cruise liner. Lara and D are escorted out and taken ashore. Alexandros, Lara, D and mercs trek the Italian landscape to arrive at the Avernus Crater Lake, "Gateway to Hades". Alexandros evokes the tridents powers and shapes the lake a crescent shape allowing access to a cave deep below. Within the Cave is what looks like a temple honoring Hermes the Messenger god. Alexandros lets the lakes waters subside and block the the exit. In front of them are three doors one of which is open. Alexandros orders his men to take the open door route, his men obediently go through the passage as ordered. Alexandros, Lara, and D hear them screaming in agony. They are rigged, they must solve the puzzle to continue on. Lara and D refuses to help, D gives Alexandros a ominous stare. Alexandros shows his frustration, Attempts at solving the puzzle himself and manages to open one door, he goes through it and leaves them behind. He mentions to our heroes he'll leave them to their fate his destiny is waiting. D asks Lara if they should follow him. Lara begins exploring the temple for clues, agent D does the same. Lara is surprised by his knowledge of ancient mythology, D finds two snakes bound together on the ground at the foot of Hermes. Lara finds another exact statue with the Caduceus staff devoid of serpents. She retrieves it and backtracks to where agent D is at the foot of the first Hermes statue. The snakes are bound at their tails and by a hole. Ms. Croft inserts it into the shaft and the snakes wrap around the Staff. Forming a full Caduceus. Lara Croft and Agent D go down though the now open door and down a tunnel. It becomes apparent to Lara what this is, "A Lava tube" from an extinct Volcano. At the end is where it connect with another larger tube. Here though a fresh water spring combined with magma that coursed through these shafts and have now become acidic. At the bottom is a Acid stream following the tunnel releasing toxic fumes. The only way further are the sides of the tunnel. Rocky and brittle our heroes are gonna have a tough time in here. We shimmy the walls and jump deeper inside. What awaits them at its end? The tunnel reaches a Huge Cavern where the stream becomes like a river delta. At its center is yet another structure. But first we have to get across the acidic streams. D finds human bones stacked high along side the wall with pottery shards and ceremonial offerings. Gold coins enough for King Mida's treasury. Lara finds a path across a streams shallowest point, rocky pillars provide ample footing. Lara is the first to cross, followed by D, another structure Etruscan in origin adorns its walls. within it are stairs descending even lower. This time we see a Huge cavern dark and smoky, Water can be heard trickling down splashing into pools. We reach a Underground palace of sort, Ms. Croft reads the inscriptions mentioning Leinth/Persephone and Pluto/ Hades. Within its interior is a Volcanic Shaft so deep we are unable to see its bottom. There is mention of "The Helm of Hades" Lara at this point believes it to be the Second Key. Agent D surprises Lara with his knowledge of ancient script, he decides Lara should continue to search for the Helm of Hades while he searches for clues to the Eleusinian Mysteries. As in Myth appears to be the only way out of Hades. Lara is suspicious but Agrees, D leaves her for now and we continue to look for the Helm of hades. Lara see what appear to be ghost and spirits, they give Lara a foreboding warning, the spirits disappear into the shadows. Just then Lara has an unwanted visit from Alexandros. He congratulates her yet again on her brilliance. Lara wants to know what her cousins part is in all of this. Alexandros replies he doesn't care, only his ambitions matter, and for the time being both his and her cousins goals are the same. He exclaims she will never find the Helm of Hades without his help. Lara makes it clear she doesn't need his help. Alexandros walks towards a sacrificial alter and chants an unfamiliar language. The ground shakes and a jewel encrusted mausoleum rises from it. A Mummy Looking Roman rises he regenerates into a youthful man and introduces himself as Hades. Looks at Lara and pans left at Alexandros is Aghast, He points to Alexandros and says, "Sisyphus, didn't I cast you into Tartarus?!"......

Hades turns to Lara and gives her a look saying, "what are you waiting for" With that Sisyphus and Hades battle, Lara looks around but doesn't see the 2nd Key. Sisyphus' eyes begin to glow and water spews from his trident, but Hades is a God and out maneuvers him. Hades exclaims, "wielding my brothers weapon does not make you my equal, you're still not divine, mortal you were born and mortal you shall die, you will not cheat I whom is the embodiment of death itself this I promise you". Sisyphus has a psychotic grin on his face, and exudes confidence. Meanwhile Lara still is unable to find the 2nd key. We have control and search everywhere, she now knows whats at stake. We begin climbing the walls and pillars getting a higher view. The drawings on them describe a statue of Hades. During the Battle between Hades and Sisyphus water is inadvertently squirted and hits something invisible and the water makes out a shape to it(clue). Then it hits her the Helm of Hades is on it. She blindly jumps towards it and clings to something unseen. We climb and reach its top and Lara feels it out and takes it. The "Helm of Hades" is now visible and so is the statue it was sitting on. Just then the Alexandros/Sisyphus spots her and decides to put the fight to an end. He aims at the ceiling above Hades and it collapses burying him...

Alexandros/Sisyphus turns his attention at Lara, Lara has it the "Helm of Hades" Lara in her usual style makes her exit with haste. She wears the Helm and turns invisible. Sisyphus hurls a wave of water in her general direction but hits nothing . Lara's gone, Sisyphus turns around, Hades rises from the ruble and blocks his escape route. It appears the lord of the netherworld can't be easily beaten. The scene turns to Lara who is searching for a way out. We take control and explore this underground labyrinth. We find bones and tombs of ancient peoples. Inscriptions tell us that in ancient times this was a sort of burial place. A few centuries after the volcano's eruption it lay dormant the Lake did not exist yet and the locals honored their dead with ceremonial human sacrifices. It was associated with Hades/ Pluto and Persephone/ Lei nth. Also with the Hecatonchires and Cyclops' and the Titanomachy. Uranus grew mad with power and wrecked havoc on earth, his wife Gaia did what she could to bring him to his senses. Her attempts instead made him paranoid, gone was the humble man who leaned on the tree of life. Gaia and Uranus birthed many children who were less and less humanoid. He did away with all his potential successors, but a new threat loomed on the horizon. Other mortals came ever so close to the tree of life and could rival him. His fears were realize when a battle was waged on its fertile ground. He destroyed both armies and moved the tree to a new location. He sealed it away and place a lock of such complexity Uranus was certain it would forever be out of mortal hands. Its builders the Hecatonchires and Cyclops' were then imprisoned along with the keys. When his youngest son Cronus disgusted with his mortal ancestry and his father's increasing madness took it upon himself to castrate him and and strained his guts out. Later Cronus would repeat his father's fate when Zeus would return the favor freeing the Hecatonchires and Cyclops, would hand him and his brothers' the means to do it(the three keys). Lara looks sees a symbol connect to the keys, a symbol she has come across before, she knows where it might lead. But first she needs to leave this cavern. Agent D returns with news, it appears the Eleusinian Mysteries have something to do with the changing seasons. Agent D and Lara come across a passage with huge Hecatonchire statues on each side holding large boulders in their many hands being carefully balanced. They stepped on a pressure pad and the boulders are released. Ms. Croft and Agent D are about to be flattened.....

Ms. Croft and Agent D run for their lives as the huge boulders come barreling down. Boulders crash ahead and behind them some boulders roll down unobstructed. More are released roll and tumble, Croft and Agent D see something at the end. "A trench" Lara and D slide in most of the Boulders continue rolling above them crashing into the wall ahead. One of the boulders pierces the wall and reveals a room on the other side. When the coast is clear Ms. Croft peers into the next room a puzzle awaits her inside. Once inside Agent D discovers Cyclops statues and Zodiac signs while our heroine discovers what appears to be an enormous Antikythera Mechanism. The cyclops are missing eyes and appear to be looking towards the center. One looks toward the outer walls containing the zodiac signs. We explore the rooms to find a relief of Persephone with missing pieces. D exits the room and finds a ladder leading to to the floor where the Hecatonchires are. Lara looks at the cyclops turned towards the zodiac and discovers the cyclops has his eye and engravings naming the zodiac he faces. Agent D also finds engravings on the back of the Hecatonchire statues. Lara finds a passage next to the zodiac where she finds a piece of Persephone. We backtrack and place the piece in it's respected place on the relief. It begins to make sense it completes a phrase on the relief but all the pieces need to be found for its meaning to be understood. Lara looks around and finds Hermes pointing somewhere its a stone that looks loose. We remove it to find another piece. Lara places it where it belongs on the relief. Agent D finds a boulders with an eye and he pushes it towards the edge it falls over and breaks apart. Within it is an eye that fits into the cyclops eye socket. Agent D makes his way down to retrieve it. Lara finds another piece of the relief under a cyclops and finishes the relief. It mentions that the cyclops look towards the heavens. Only during the the Spring (clue) or equinox, Lara figures only those Zodiac sings present during the equinox must certain Cyclops face. Agent D retrieves the eye and enters the room where Lara tells him to place it only on a cyclops facing Zodiacs associated with those during the Vernal equinox. Notably "Aries" The Ram, Agent D places an eye on a cyclops and turns him towards the Ram. He returns back to the Hecatonchire room. Lara finds an eye on the within the mechanism and places it in the eye socket of an cyclops and turns it towards a Ram. Agent D sees something shimmer atop a hand of one Hecatonchire and climbs from one hand to the next to retrieve it, back tracks to the cyclops room and places the last eye in a statue and turns it. Nothing happens though and D asks what went wrong. Lara investigates further and sees the mechanism is incorrect. It must Display the time of the vernal equinox. She pulls a lever and adjusts the dials and hand to display the vernal equinox. It starts the mechanism, the cyclops shine with light coming from the Zodiac symbols. Outside one Hecatonchire rises and places his many hands on the ceiling. It pushes the ceiling upward and sunlight shines through. They climb out to find themselves on a hill amongst some ruins. Agent D shows signs of relief when Alexandros surprises him from behind. Bruised and battered he looks ticked off, turns towards Lara and commands her to hand over the Helm of Hades.....

Lara turns to face Alexandros/Sisyphus and says, "Looks like Hades gave you a good thrashing, SYLVAN ALEXANDROS or should I call you SISYPHUS!" D is astonished, he asks, "THE SISYPHUS from antiquity?" Lara implies that is the reason he was so hard to track. Lara asks, "You already lived this long why do you need the Tree of Life?" Sisyphus responds, "I was anointed with nectar from its fruits, by Persephone herself. That is how I escaped the realm of Hades" He goes on to say that he was revived but falls short of Godhood. He intends to complete the process. Agent D says, "You can't take us both on, you can barely stand!" Alexandros/ Sisyphus responds, "I brought Hades to his knees a God nonetheless, mere mortals are a breeze, ENOUGH SMALL TALK THE HELM IF YOU PLEASE" He aims the trident at Lara and while his eyes turn blue. Agent D walks in front of her and tells her to flee. Lara wears the Helm and goes invisible, D runs to his Left and draw Sisyphus' attacks. Lara trips Sisyphus invisibly and D pounces on him, Lara removes the Helm becoming visible. Just then a shock wave knocks Lara and D off of Sisyphus. Its that villain again, Sisyphus gets on his feet and regains his composure, he tells Lara "You really are worth you're weight in gold Ms. Croft, I was like you once many eons ago. I payed for my arrogance someday you'll pay for yours. I like you I really do Countess quit now I'd hate to meet you in Tartarus pulling that boulder while I push it". Lara refuses, Sisyphus aims his trident at her again. When Ethan comes in and says "Lara just hand him the Helm of Hades". Lara asks, what are you after Ethan? Sisyphus grows impatient and aims a gun at Ethan's head. Ethan asks Sisyphus, "what are you doing?!".....

Sisyphus says, "This is the second time I have demanded something of you with a life at stake, I wonder, Is one Croft's life worth another's. So What will it be?" Lara walks forth and extends the Helm. Sisyphus has his hands full, the trident in one hand and a gun in another. He commands his comrade (second Villain) to take it in his stead. Strangely he addresses him as Orpheus. He walks forth inches from taking the Helm. Lara looks at Ethan and Ethan looks back. Alister yells Lara. Alister, Zip and Winston arrived on an off road vehicle, Orpheus and Sisyphus are momentarily distracted. Ethan takes advantage of the situation tackles Sisyphus takes his gun and trident, he high tails it out of there. Ethan creates a wall of Ice roughly 100 feet high behind him. Lara whacks Orpheus with the Helm knocking him back on his rear. The tide turns in our heroes favor but is soon turned back. D heads for Sisyphus and is met with a that weird weapon of his, nearly slicing him in half. Sisyphus yells at Orpheus, "Its time". Orpheus plays a tune, the strange sound he makes is so strange and powerful it causes the ice wall to shatter. Lara and D try to catch them but are disoriented, and suffer a sudden case of Vertigo. Time passes and Lara wakes to find Sisyphus and Orpheus gone along with the "Helm of Hades", Agent D is still out and she doesn't wake him. The Cruise liner is gone as well. Alister, Zip and Winston are also counting sheep, Ms. Croft wakes them. They all ask Lara, What happened? Lara answers that she has no idea. She asks them how they found her, Alister says he figured out where the second key was and had a hunch he would find her there. Zip has news about her Co-pilot, he tries to turn on his lap top but it won't turn on. Zip replies, "What in the world? Its completely fried" The car won't start either. Lara asks if he can remember what he learned. Zip says he can. He tells her the Co-pilot used to work for Richard Croft and Amelia Croft as part of the ground crew for their air craft. He got his piloting license a few years ago and worked for Errol ever since her parents went missing. Zip also found out about Agent D, D's real name is Randal Derrickson. He was a former Royal Marines officer, after being honorably discharged he joined Interpol and was there for quite some time. He's been tracking Sylvan Alexandros for years. He specialized in art theft, originally specialized in organized crime. He was a leader of an art theft squad, who arrested many of Lara's rivals. Zip also discovered he was once assigned to monitor and arrest Lara Croft. He resigned, because he could not find her guilty. In a memo he wrote regarding Lara as someone who was doing his duty in her own way. He was then asked to join MI5, he continued to track Sylvan Alexandros while a member. When a message was intercepted by GCHQ he was assigned to protect Lara at all cost, having detailed knowledge of the subject (Lara) made him the perfect candidate. Zip and Alister asked Lara, "What now?". Lara replies, "For Greece" With that Agent D is left behind.....

Agent D wakes up on the hill alone. Looks around and wonders why Lara left him without a word. We see him leaving. Scene changes to Lara and her gang, arriving at a village near Mount Lykaion in Arcadia. She meets up with a friend there, while Winston, Alister and Zip set up a base of operations at the village. Ms. Croft gears up for a hike to the mountains peaks. We hike up the mountain surrounded by beautiful scenery. We start to see stones and ruins east of the columns of Zeus. To the south we find steep cliffs which we shimmy across, making our way to a cave entrance. A large bird made this its nesting ground leaving behind a nest. Further inwards we find stone aged cave paintings depicting a wolf hunt as a right of passage ritual. The cave snakes its way deeper and narrows. Lara squeezes through and stops at a stone, we must remove it and climb down. The Place opens up to a large Greek temple honoring Zeus. It looks like it was a work-in-progress, Scaffolding is still present. Either that or the priest decided to remodel. Cranes, Stones, pickaxes, debris you'd almost assumed they were here yesterday. Scrolls/blueprints perfectly preserved, with its architects' notes. Lara gathers they were carving the temple out of the mountain itself like Mount Rushmore. Deeper in we see the scene change, a more completed temple, the mood changes as our path must cross a walkway. We see life sized Greek statues representing two separate armies. On one side Athenians, on horse driven chariots, on horseback, infantry soldiers, and archers. On the other side Spartans in a similar pose. A man between them, soldier by the looks of him with shield in hand he is dead. He is crouched down and covered in spears and arrows (its a trap). Lara crosses and the trap is triggered, Spears and arrows fly at us from both sides in a barrage. We must hurry across a great distance. Lara makes it to the dead soldiers corpse and takes his shield. She uses it to protect her from the barrage of spears and arrows flung at us. Finally we make it across where we are astonished to see what appears to be a giant ancient power plant....

The place is humming with electricity, something out of Frankenstein. Copper and lead are present throughout this chamber. The ancient Greeks were quite advanced to have built this place. Lara explores the power plant structure and we arrive at a puzzle. Its an ancient lightning rod on a pulley or lift mechanism. The ancient Greeks were planning to raise it to the surface but never did. At the bottom is a decorated glass and copper orb filled with a highly conductive liquid (Its a Fuse). We must turn the power on but not in a modern conventional way. Their are no switches that we can see. Zip and Alister communicate through her headset, they just installed a small radio antenna just outside the village, Zip exclaims, "something is interfering with the signal!". Zip asks if she can get to higher ground? Lara responds, "I'm inside the mountain just below Mt. Lykaion's summit. Lara finds stone stairs leading to a higher platform. She climbs them to a higher elevation. She moves around looking for better reception. Lara asks Alister if their is any mention of lightning rod devices in antiquity. Alister replies that Mount Lykaion means "Wolf Mountain" and there are records of something similar to werewolf accounts. Nothing regarding lightning rods though, Alister will continue researching and suggest she should continue looking around. Our heroine continues exploring the chamber. An archway leads us to the first chamber high above the Athenian vs Spartan trap. Motifs provide a way across, we jump to from one to the next, on the other side is the scaffolding from before. The scaffolds leads us to a library hidden above an alcove. Scrolls are stacked in cubed holes. Ms. Croft comes found a treasure trove of parchments. Croft pulls one out it chronicles Aristotle's experimenting with Frankenstein like results (werewolves). Above on the surface stood a temple complex that combined with the one she is currently in, which is not a power plant rather a lightning gather or making structure. It speaks of lightning storage boxes (rechargeable batteries) human and animal (most likely wolves) sacrifices taking place here. They were designed to mimic the life giving power of the tree of life. The gods were angered and forbade Aristotle from continuing. Zeus hurled a lightning bolt at the above temple.....

The Greeks were planning to hoist the obelisk sized lightning rod up atop the temple on the mount. They never did and abandoned the complex on account of a wrathful Zeus. It tells of a room behind the fuse and lightning rod. Ms. Croft leaves the library to investigate. We backtrack over the scaffolding and the motifs to the lightning generating chamber. Lara radios to Alister all she has learned from the scrolls. Alister is puzzled, he asks "Lightning rods, werewolves and the tree of life? Sounds like Aristotle was an Alchemist. Why would Zeus put a stop to it? sounds like something went wrong" Zip joins the conversation says, "Well I don't know of any Alchemist, werewolves or Gods, but I think what you just described is a Lightning protector Aristotle was way ahead of his time." Lara climbs higher to another floor level. Lara scans the room quickly and and vaults over cranes to the ropes and pulleys attached to the lightning rod. Once clinging on the ropes she looks up and spots a shaft with a hatch directly above her. Climbs up and tries to pry the hatch open but fails to open it, from there she spies a crawl space with dim lighting at the end. Lara jumps and grabs the edge, we crawl to a small room on the other side. In here we find a winch, Lara turns it several times opening the hatch in the process. She hears earth and rocks crumbling down the shaft and light shine through. Croft makes squeezes back onto the crawl space ending back at the shaft. We see the sky from the now opened hatch, slowing climbing above to what used to be the Temple sub floor. Only ruins are left of the once mighty temple structure, ruins which Lara Croft can make use of....

Ms. Croft digs at the base of some columns. She tries to get the temple's layout to discover where the lightning rod would have ended up. We find a circular copper socket on the ground level. It was part of a large conduit and column system and was intended to connect the lightning rod with the structures below. The column is no longer erect, but the socket at its base remains. Upon further inspection of the site she finds a capstan attached to the pulley system below and to the lightning rod. Lara Croft continues to inspect the site We unearth a bronze rod which she inserts in the capstan and turns it. The lightning rod is raised to surface and Lara uses her grapple and attaches it to the lightning rod and wraps it around the capstan securing it. She turns it a second time and brings it closer to the socket. She gets a little creative and makes a windlass using the ruins that are still standing. Lara places the lightning rod on the socket, Croft sees oak leaves on the lightning rod. The lightning rod was lighter than she expected but still required a bit of ingenuity. Lara unhooks the grapple from the lightning rod, when Zip radios in, "I'm getting better reception, I can hear you loud and clear, looks to me like thats not the first lightning rod you've raised!? Hey Lara I had a chance to investigate our sound making friend from Italy. Local communications facilities noticed a disturbances on all frequencies. I took the liberty of examining the data, strange as it may seem I believe some kind of tunning fork made it. Like nothing I've come across" Lara; "A tunning fork?" Zip;"Must have been located inside the scepter device, It might amplify the sound as well". Lara backtracks back to the hatch. Zip; "Lara you're signal is breaking up again" Ms. Croft climbs down and into the crawl space into the room with the winch that opens the hatch. One of the walls looks different, Lara pushes it and find stairs leading down....

Lara Croft enters the room, references to a primordial garden are everywhere, a hunter gatherer mosaic scene is above. Zeus is depicted in a Cretan fashion, youthful. A bull leaping fresco on the left and wolves hunting on the right. Ahead are four passages (a Maze). She takes the second right passage, as she enters its darker and creepier. Ms. Croft's personal light illuminates her way in here, we see a corridor with bull heads on either side looking ominously. There are rails or tracks on the ground. As soon as she steps in front of the first bull head a trap sequence is triggered, button pushing awaits us. The bulls butt their heads quick to smash anyone caught in the middle. Lara must learn the pattern which she soon does, no time to relax because on the next left is a bull hidden in the dark corner and we must sprint away. The bull seems to roll on the rails, old rusty horns adorn its head. Lara jumps in the next left the bull runs past us. As it leaves we see its a to sided bull, we still can't rest, as another bull appears rushing us from the front. Again Lara dashes for dear life behind the first bull. On the next junction another left turn and yet another then a right. Bull heads in almost every one, looks like Ms. Croft is being chase around in circles, not only that we're lost. Lara Croft reaches a corridor, a bull head awaits her. As she turns to look back another rears its ugly head boxing her in. Ms. Croft looks just above it and gathers their is just enough room for a small leap. Lara runs straight at the first one she encountered and picks up speed. The heads are closing the gap, when Lara is inches from it she leaps over and does a bull leap. She scrapes the ceiling but flips over making a perfect landing. Behind her both bulls crash into one another. The acrobatics buy her some time to find the way out but it appears this maze doesn't have one. In our search we find a small room with a floor pressure pad. Every time we step in here the walls and corners seem to be separating at the seems. But Lara's weight is not enough to separate them completely. Ms. Croft sees rails leading into the room, and a rope etching follows the rail. Lara follows the rope etching to a part of the maze we have not been, rails criss cross over each other in intersections. Lara though only follows the one with the rope etching. She soon finds its end, and a bull head is were its leads. It activates and Lara races away, the head is not too far behind, Croft follows the rope etching back to the room from before. When we are feet from it she turns around and stands just before its entrance. When the bull is inches away she jumps right. The runs in and stops at the pressure pad floor. Their is a loud rumble and the maze and walls separate opening and the ceiling splits in two. The Maze opens up and reveals a much larger room. But this is only the first of four other rooms we must explore, This is the "Minotaur room" Welcome....

Lara Croft is free to explore this new area. With the walls of the maze gone the heads are also gone. She is able to see the rope engraving on the floor, which lead from the pressure pad to the head and vice versa. We spend a good long time looking over the room and see a floor tile missing, the rest are in tact. Finally we find a ball of yarn tied into knots and wrapped onto a large shifting lever. From this ball treads are spread out into a web, each leading to different cranks. She just cranks and the lever shifts right? Looks easy enough but we must be careful. Cranking in the wrong order would be certain death. Lara learn that the architects were trying to keep something from escaping. Sort of the same way Minos commissioned Daedalus to design and construct the labyrinth to imprison the Minotaur. Of course if they made it that easy for the minotaur He would have escaped at anytime which kind of defeats the purpose. Likewise this place was constructed in such a way that whatever creature(s) were or people came this far could not just simply walk out free and clear. But Lara Croft isn't just anyone she's a legend, and Tomb Raider, so it doesn't take Lara long figure things out. The Lever has a North, Northeast, East, Southeast, South, Southwest, West, and North West shifts. The floor of the bull head maze holds the answer, Theseus was able to find his way round in the labyrinth and escape using the thread Ariadne gave him. Likewise we must use the rope or thread engravings to give us our N NW W SW S SE E NE heading which we must reciprocate with the crank and shifter enigma. If we make a wrong move what could happen to our beloved heroine?....

"A picture is worth a 1000 words but the sight all around us is worth 2000", It appears a struggle took place. Lara spots a wooden stairway that is rotting away. but a few steps make it possible to climb. As we approach it what she first thought was a nice decorative shade of red upon closer inspection is blood stains. We see a mummified man tacked to the wall by a huge Labrys, ouch! What a way to go?". In fact we see several Labrys axes smashed against the walls. We see hoof marks on the ground of some bipedal beast, Ms. Croft Spidermans her way up the stairway to the next floor. We are welcomed by a horrendous sight a sacrificial chamber more like a slaughter house. Here we find the first indication of Titanomachy. Titans which translates to "Straining Gods" Lara finds it peculiar that a giant Strainer below, what appears to be a meat grinder, and below them is a bronze mold in the shape of a half man half bull chimera are present. We are further sickened by the reappearance of a red blood hue. We climb ever further to get out of the cocktail of pagan human sacrifice, Lara can't help but think their is a method to all this madness. Higher up we are greeted by a noodle scratcher. Its like two opposite sides of a coin, we see where the pagan priest did the pagan praying, and on the other we see where the business end is. Lara makes her way to the priest's ash alter to find garden motifs and Oak Trees. A priest inscribed that where the oak trees are currently he placed acorns, so the acorns are the Oaks. On the ash alter is a torch. Ms. Croft makes her way to the opposite side of the room and we find Cronus' name on a sickle, chains, and a whip for flogging victims.Ahead we find a walkway over the meat grinding monstrosity, Beneath us is a mass of human and animal mummified remains. On the left wall is a door to its side is a mechanism for opening that door, a gear is missing. Lara sees gears on the monstrosity she can borrow, but we have to return. Lara spidermans her way onto the monstrosity towards the gears. She pries one off and heads back up to the door, Croft puts it in then pulls a lever. The door opens and we are on our way down. Its looks like a dead end but the forward wall lowers down like a draw bridge onto the top of the rope puzzle. On the North heading, Ms Croft turns the crank and the shifter locks into place, the entire room rumbles and thunders of stones rubbing against one another and rustic mechanisms. The entire room floor rotates. another massive draw bridge lowers to our right. We follow the path onto another crank NW, "Unless she has a death wish she'll pull this one. But she doesn't have one and is smart enough to continue living. From here it looks like a jump away from the West crank, Lara takes leap and makes an Olympic worthy landing. She pulls this one and ditto the room rumbles and thunders. The Shifter is in W position now. the door opens and we follow the path up to end up at the ash alter. "News to miss croft don't forget to return the gear". She does and puts it back into the hot dog maker from heck. She backtracks to the ash and trees and Lara remembered to pack flints, she lights the torch we feel a rumble and the ash sinks revealing a long shaft. "Yes we must go down! And yes we're gonna regret we lit that!" Just think it's a water park Lara!". Down she goes and splash we land in a black muck "If you're thinking poo, you're wrong if you're thinking human guts, wrong again its GREEK FIRE! A whole cistern sized lot of it and we must get out. careful how you use you're lights in here. One spark and we're out like a Roman and in our case Greek candle. Lara feels her way out in here and gets to an edge of something. She climbs out and blindly follows where it leads. We see light at the end of the tunnel no we're not dead. We are in the SW crank. Hey Lara you're tracking mud, Oh wait thats Greek fire. We're tracking our own death. Lara sees a path on our left we must follow forget the SW crank we need to go up to North again. Our path leads back to the mid center of the shifter and which by the way is how it works. Kinda like pinball. Our path snakes its way around the important mechanism towards the west however looks like years of earthquakes have cause a small cave in and a boulder damaged the Westward shifter part of the mechanism, meaning we cant shift west the usual way. "Also it blocks our path East towards the E crank" . Cracks cause by the earthquake provides cracks for vertical rock climbing. Lara climbs up the treacherous wall to the top. She follow the path that opens a door behind the North crank. We turn it a second time, again with the rumbling and the floor turning. Ms. Croft back tracks to the cracked wall, and notice new cracks just made. First make her way to the the East crank and turn it. Once turned she backtracks to see the problem first hand, boulders block the shifter column from knocking down a big bronze sphere down its path to a weight at its end. Lara must push it down herself. Croft gives it the old heave ho and down it goes. Weights it down and rumbles and turns the floor at the tile room. Unfortunately the rumbling is causing the cave in to worsen and nearly kills Lara. She falls down to the bottom, luckily water down here breaks our fall. Water seeping in from the surrounding fresh water springs have flooded the place down here. No big deal we need that wash anyways. She climbs out and makes her way back to the shifting room. Where the missing floor tile was, we find a Thunder bolt looking Lara pulls out. Inscriptions on it like the trident. Oh, oh. remember the trident. She does read quite yet but pulling it out though is just as bad it has sprung the monstrosity above. The ceiling opens up and down it comes the bronze mold thingy. The mold opens and a mangled looking Minotaur roars to life. From the walls Labrys axes are hurled through slits on the walls, one nearly slices Lara's face off. Thats not the worst of it those nice looking engravings that look like channels well they are. NO TIME TO GAWK, Greek fire is now oozing in, "aren't you glad you took that dip. The Greek fire channels in, Ah!, Remember that torch she lit? Yeah be sorry she lit that cause it just went down the ash alter shaft and lit the hole place up like Dante's Inferno. Lara jumps back left right, all over in here Watch out for the channels of fire, the flying Labrys axes and Oh yeah the Minotaur. Good luck......

The first thing Lara has to keep an eye peeled for, are the slits in the walls where the Labrys are shot out from, second is the ever changing fiery maze of Greek fire on the ground, and third is the Minotaur. The Labrys' can be predicted once we learn the pattern, The fiery maze gives us the time frame we have to work with. Take too long and the whole room will flood with Greek fire by which time we'll be kaput. The Minotaur is unpredictable and will give Lara no mercy, he can catch the Labrys axes and hurl them at us, use the Labrys' as a shield against Lara's pistol fire and he can also kill us once he charges at Lara with his horned head. Their are several ways to exit this hell hole, none of which are easy, Lara makes a decision and puts her strategy into practice. She dodges the Labrys' and traverses the fiery maze, heading for the quickest route toward the stairway from earlier. The Minotaur Snatches two Labrys' and hurls them at us. Croft dodges those as well another catches her off guard from the wall and scrapes her shoulder, ouch! The Minotaur groans and charges at her, Lara Leaps over him and he penetrates the wall with his sharps horns. While he busies himself trying to get loose Lara uses this time to reach the stairway. More Greek fire narrow her path to her goal, the Minotaur pries his head out of the wall and focuses his attention on Lara again. The stairway collapses and a change of plans are in order. Lara heads for the Shifter towards the center, suddenly the Minotaur grabs another Labrys and hurls it Lara's way she dodges and it strike the wall next to the shifter, time for plan b. The Minotaur charges once more, and Lara leaps over his head yet again, this time though, she mounts hims. Using his horns like reins Lara steers him toward the punctured wall. This bucking bull is making things difficult, 3/4 of the way there Lara sees another pesky Labrys headed her way, her instinct tell her its time to dismount, as she somersaults forward the beast gets his head severed. "No more Minotaur", No time to celebrate, the room is a pool of scorching black liquid, the fumes make it difficult for Lara to breath. Our heroine races for the hole in the wall and does a swan dive through it to the water below. She climbs out the same way she did before and ends up back where the E crank path leads. The black ooze rises and overspills into this region cascades to the water below rendering it no longer safe. Lara's current rate of thought is regarding one of these cranks mechanisms, "One of them must activate the exit somehow". But which one?.......

Lara takes a gamble on the SE Crank, she heads for the E crank and from there jumps to the SE Crank pulls it hears a load metal pinging. Nothing appears to have resulted, but in fact something did happen. The ledge Lara's now standing on has become unstable, the intense heat from the Greek fire has caused the stone structures to buckle and is starting to crumble. A draw bridge has lowered leading behind to where she was before in the inner workings of the shifter. Once we reach the back we see the fiery water below draining, we here the ropes snapping, in seconds the wall from which the cranks were supported, fall apart. A stone splashes on the water below giving us a safe place to dive. Lara Swan Dives again through where it splashed and see the floor opened into a drainage channel. Behind us the wall and shifter collapsed blocking our returning route. We emerge out of a well used to supply the work force of architects and skilled masons by the scaffolding near the entrance. Rather than go through the soldier trap again Lara decides their is a better way across, she climbs the scaffolding up to the library where she spotted the blue prints earlier. From up here she scales the motifs making her way to the lighting generation device with the fuse. Lara hears radio noise, its Zip exclaims she's about to have company, their is a black helicopter hovering atop the mount. Moments later Lara hears the loud rotors from the helicopter overhead and sees a rope drop from the shaft above. Croft makes herself scarce, a man zips down in military gear, he signals the chopper. The rope is pulled up, the man investigates the chamber with interest. As he inches closer to the fuse he reads the inscription. Lara Croft ambushes him and tells him to drop his weapon. The man complies and takes off his mask, turns to face her and says, "You always this friendly?" to Lara's surprise its Agent D.....

Lara, "You again!" Agent D, "You don't look too happy to see me again" Lara, "Wasn't happy the first time" Agent D, "You always leave men laying around with not so much as a good bye" Lara, "Aren't you supposed to be an expert on my exploits?" Agent D, "Huh, I see, Zip must have told you?" Lara, "You must be pretty good if you anticipated my coming here" Agent D, "Well if Zip is a good as I know he is, he's told you of MY EXPLOITS, that I lead my own Art theft squad. Putting art thieves and tomb raiders alike behind bars. After awhile you learn a few things. I'm not to bad with Archeology myself" Lara, "Which begs the question why did you resign from Interpol?" Agent D, "That's my business O.K!" Lara, "Weren't you supposed to turn me in as well?" Agent D, "....... coughs SO you figured out how to turn this thing on yet?!" Lara walks over to the fuse orb and opens the top. She places the lightning bolt inside, completing the circuit. Agent D, "That's it! Nothings happening!" Lara, "I suspect we have to turn it on from one of the rooms above" Agent D, "Lets get going" Lara, "think you can keep up?" Agent D smiles, Lara climbs the stairs as she did before. Agent D and Ms. Croft race to the crawl space leading to the four rooms. Once through the crawl space, Lara coughs, the smoke filled air makes it difficult to breath, mind you the Minotaur room is still burning. Agent D with a back pack of his own takes out a pair of gas masks, hands one to Lara. She reluctantly accepts, Agent D replies, "This doesn't mean we're engaged or anything". With masks now worn they proceed inside, dark at first, then flames provide some illumination. Agent D asks Croft, "You survived that? Which way now, Wolves den or?" Lara takes the lead. Agent D, "We'll take that one I suppose" The ground feels uneven, Its moist and dank in here. We hear echo's signaling to us we're in a big place. You wouldn't know it on account of it being dark. Hissing noises are heard coming from everywhere. Somethings very strange here we see faint apparitions. Lara takes off her mask and exclaims "it's safe to breath in here, smells like??" Agent D, "I just put these masks back then. Is that?" before he finishes his sentence, what look like snakes move revealing Medusa's bronze face. Her eyes open and light from it illuminates the whole room. Agent D, "Bloody HELL" Lara, "LOOK AWAY" Our duo looks in opposite directions, Agent D, "AH!" Frightened by a man frozen in stone. His expression is ghastly. Mirrors abound confuse and intimidate. The room is crawling with snakes of every kind, Its a literal snake pit beneath their very feet. Moving about in here is going to be a challenge. The mirrors disorient, the snakes intimidate and the Medusa threatens merely with her stare. Welcome to the Medusa chamber. Checking in.....

i didn't really intend to interrupt (too much) the sequence of story-telling posts.

there are many threads, like the screenshot competitions over in Community Chat, that have a related "Comments"-only thread. in that way, the original thread can stay "pure", so to speak ...

so if this thread had a related "Comments"-only thread then possibly there might be more comments on the writing. i haven't commented for the afore-mentioned reasons ...

so now I'm going to

Thanks metro you always know what to say:thumbsup: , you and I think alike I suppose. By the way I need an honest opinion. Do you think that my fictional Agent D and Lara have any Chemistry, given he's not Larson, Kurtis, Rutland or Pierre. Even if his name is Larson or Kurtis do you think theres a drop of chemistry there.

Well then continuing...
Agent D, "Terrible way to go. So what now?" Lara, "I think we should be fine as long as we don't stare at Medusa directly" Agent D, "SO we're supposed to walk backwards in here?" Lara, "No but be mindful of where you're starring at, otherwise you'd end up just like them" Agent D contemplates what Lara meant by "Them"?. Takes another look and he spots several more men frozen in stone. Lara ever the adventurous woman that she is travels further into this chamber ahead of D. Medusa's bronze head has four sides of stone turning faces. Agent D shouts, "Wait up". At the far end of the chamber wall is a bronze shield with Medusa's head. Agent D nervously treads behind Lara as snakes hiss at his feet. Agent D, "from the look of this rooms layout Medusa head was merely the anti theft system, meant to stop people from entering further. But those men back there didn't look like thieves, more like part of the staff at the temple. Temple guards, monks, even a priest" Agent D, "Whatever was contained therein was apparently meant for Aristotle's eyes only". Lara studies the mirrors and see above them Greek names on some of them but not all. The name Perseus catches her attention, she takes out one pistol and aims it at the mirror. Agent, D states, "You sure you want to do that, you break a mirror thats seven years bad luck, not that I'm superstitious or anything but we are in a place where we don't need something like that". Lara fires, (crash) shattering the mirror, its a doorway. It leads to a small room with a mosaic depicting Perseus slaying Medusa, Sword in one hand Medusa's head in the other. This room has Greek writing retelling the journey to the realms of the trice three goddesses, his voyage to the island of the Hesperides, and his search for the Graeae. With nothing more to find in this room D and Ms. Croft return to the Medusa room, reminding D of Medusa's stare. The progress further towards the shield, then D spots the Greek name for Graeae above a mirror. He takes his own pistol and shatters the glass. Both proceed inward ending on the other side of the Medusa chamber arriving at the main puzzle. In here there is a cauldron looking thing at the center floor above them are 12 alcove's gargoyles all over. Three walls 4 alcoves each at first glance they seem to use to contain idols, but now are missing. Above the alcoves are names of goddesses. In the first wall from left to right are the names of the Graeae, in the second wall is the names of the three gorgon sister which Medusa is one of, and last are the Moirae......

Lara inspects the cauldron and looks like oaks leaves adorn its exterior. She notices it's empty, looks up and sees gargoyles with spouted mouths directly above it. On the cauldron a head sticks out. The face is unrecognizable but Lara believes the face is not important. Ms. Croft concludes that the helm of hades was meant to be placed on it. Lara walks around it and spots three holes, walks further and sees another singular hole. Agent D, sees ancient garbage and then a scroll, ink stained clay bowls, reeds, papyrus, broken clay tablets. Agent D calls out to Lara, "Ms. Croft! Take a look at this". D opens up the scroll, on it are Aristotle's findings. He talks about his travels with the Macedonian king Alexander. During one of many campaigns against the Persian King Darius III, he witnessed something that had a profound impact on him for the rest of his life. On their way to Urfa they came across Darius III army ahead of them. Aristotle notes the animals were uneasy. Both armies clashed, the battle was cut short, when the land became red with blood, men on both sides dropped dead, then beast sprung forth form the soil, Darius and his men turn around and flee shouting Urshanabi!... Aristotle writes no more. Lara looks up and sees spells, chants on the walls. Next she inspects the broken clay tablets, put two pieces together that fit. On it is the name Gilgamesh. Croft whispers to herself "Gilgamesh". Agent D asks, "You said something. Lara replies, "Oh it's nothing really" Agent D, "You don't trust me, do you?" Lara, "What ever gave you that Idea? was it the gun I pointed at your head? or leaving you behind in Italy?" Agent D, "You think I'm working for Sisyphus?" Lara, "Or you're leading him right to me" Agent D, " I WAS ASSIGNED to PROTECT you?" Lara, "The way I see it either you're working for Sisyphus OR you're looking for a date? Neither of which I find amusing, if you want a date try the local Discotheque? You came to the wrong place for either" Agent D, "..... I" (whispers) Lara, " what was that" Agent D, "I don't think we're alone. Do you think it's Sisyphus?" Lara, "Wouldn't surprise me if it is... No, I think we have an audience" Lara hears voices and sounds coming from the alcoves. Lara pans Left and sees the back of the shied. It's held in place by straps. Lara takes her grapple out and flings it at the handle, once secured takes out a pistol and shoots the straps. D helps Lara pull it in, it falls in and light from Medusa's eyes shine through. Ms. Croft takes the shield and with it reflects light at the alcoves. Ghostly figures are revealed, these creatures where there all along, but can't be seen without Medusa revealing them. Agent D, "They're hideous, are those the Gorgons?" Lara "You should see the Graeae" Agent D, "Thanks but I've had one heart attack too many" Lara, "No eyes"......

Agent D, "Is this the part where we run?" Lara, "Not quite yet" Our heroine walks forth and asks the ghostly creatures a few questions, first question, "Why has Sisyphus waited all this time to acquire the three keys, and eaten fruit from the tree of life? The creatures answer in unison *(The one you refer to as Sisyphus, couldn't)* Lara, "Why not?" *(The fruit has not yet ripen, the tree you mention has its phases)* Lara, "Where is the tree located?" creatures, *(I cannot see, therefore I cannot show you unless you bring us our eye)* Lara, "Where can I find you're eye?" creatures, *(We cannot see that either, you must find it yourselves)* Agent D, "Now what?" Lara, "We look for the eye. Aristotle must have hidden it somewhere around here". Lara and Agent D leave this room and return to the mirrors looking for clues. The place is a honeycomb of mirrors. Agent D takes aim, just before firing Lara stops him, exclaims, "Wait, don't shoot!" Lara and D move to the side of it and Lara draws her twins aims and shoots. Upon breaking the mirror a trap triggers behind it. A Ballista fires a dart through where D was standing. D is astonished, had he fired he would have been killed. Lara sees a ladder leading to a higher tier..

Our duo climbs up and continue the search. Lara notices hooks on the ceiling and fang marks on the walls. They find men frozen in stone up here, looking away from Medusa. Agent D asks, "How do you suppose they got up here? They're not starring at Medusa". Lara replies, "We better hurry, unless we want to find out, as to the how" Agent D says, "My guess is most of these mirrors are rigged with traps. You're probably working it all out in that lovely head of yours as we speak. Care to share? I might be of some use" Lara explains that Aristotle must have kept the eye both away from outsiders and the Thrice Three Goddesses(Ghostly Creatures), So the eye must be somewhere within rooms leading from one of these mirrors. Lara gets a glimpse of Aristotle's name above a mirror directly behind Agent D, as she approaches she takes aim,. and bang! At the end of the corridor is a room with a door and an elaborate key hole. On the door is a Greek phrase when deciphered reads "Knowledge is the key". 9 Pedestals, 5 for physics and 4 for causes. In here we find blacksmithing tools Agent D believes such tools mean the key must be around here somewhere. To his frustration he finds none. Meanwhile Lara examines the pedestals and the door in great detail, comes to the realization much to Agent D's dismay that there is No key. Ms. Croft relays her discovery to Agent D, he replies "How can that be? Clearly their is such a key, otherwise they'd be no keyhole. Alright let me hear it?!" Lara repeats the Phrase "KNOWLEDGE IS THE KEY" Agent D, "How exactly do we open the door with knowledge when a key does not exist" Lara replies, "Doesn't exist yet" Agent D, "Right then, SO WE MAKE THE KEY is it? I always was more of a Platonism kind of guy"...

Agent D starts by saying, "So let's get started" Lara, "According to Aristotle their are five elements, (Fire, Water, Air, Earth and Aether/Eidos)" Lara starts things with Aether. She states, "Aether is described as divine, stars and planets, the power that animates us. Both Aristotle and Plato describes Aether as Eidos(Idea) Aristotle considered Idea as the fifth element. Plato called it a form however according to Aristotle it is a Cause. So the Idea is?" Agent D exclaims, "We need a key to open that door" Lara replies, "That IS the IDEA!" Agent D, "Well if the idea =we need a key. Why is there a Dodecahedron on the Aether pedestal?" Lara replies, "Right on the fire pedestal is a Tetrahedron, on the one for air is a Octahedron, an Icosahedron is on the water pedestal, lastly a Hexahedron on the one for earth. Agent D could you hand me the Hexahedron!" Agent D complies and is surprised to find out it IS removable. He hands it to her and she places it on a matching depression next to the Dodecahedron. Both exclaim"It fits!" Nothing happened. Lara walks towards the Causes, what she originally thought was ornamental on the Matter pedestal is actually a button. She pushes it and a Iron ingot is revealed on the Earth pedestal. Agent D states, "It's an iron ingot, big too" Lara, "Now hand me the Tetrahedron" Lara places it on its matching depression. Walks to the Potentiality pedestal and pushes a similar ornament, on the eastern wall a kiln is revealed. Lara places the Iron ingot inside. underneath is the business end with charcoals. Lara takes some goodies out of her backpack fire making tools) and lites the charcoals. She tells D to get the Octahedron, Ms. Croft places it on the matching depression, immediately air is blown into the charcoal compartment and the fire intensifies Once the ore liquefies Lara walks to the Form pedestal and presses the ornament and two bars extend out opposite each other.Ms. Croft then tells Agent D to get the Icosahedron and places it in the final depression. Two things Occur a fountain is revealed and the form pedestal opens up to reveal a very large cast of a key. Lara and Agent D walk towards the ore and both raise the bars and lift a cup out with the liquid metal over to the cast. Our duo pours it into the mold lets it solidify then they get a hammer and chisel to remover the cast. They use tongs looking tools to lift it over to the fountain and cools it. Steams, bubbles and sizzles cooling the key. Now cooled our heroes carry it over to the keyhole and insert it. The massive key fits. We hear locks, the key turns and the door finally opens.....

rabid metro
13th Jul 2008, 11:17
simple model: 1 (human) = 7 (dog)
this is the model generally referred to when speaking of "dog years" ...

better model:
for the first two years: 1 (human) = 10 (dog)
and then subsequent years:
small dogs: 1 (human) = 4 (dog)
large dogs: 1 (human) = 5 (dog)

the models agree in that a "4 year old dog" is about "28-30 years old".
the better models allow dogs to grow up quick and age more gracefully ...

Our duo walks inside and find a cluttered room, unorganized, a time capsule of sorts. Lara Croft and Agent D gaze at a chamber that has not been looked upon in well over 2,000 years. Agent D says, "I never would have figured Aristotle as a messy fellow. Nothing in the history books about him being insane either, because this doesn't look like a place a sane man spent his time" Lara Croft says "Aristotle was just looking for answers to life's questions. However something plagued his mind" Agent D says"Whoa! Aristotle had a few secrets" as he gazes at a dried corpse. Gold threads for wires, and what could have passed for a chemistry set. Lara picks up a roll and says" lets have a look see, we'll find out what plagued his mind amongst his notes" Lara opens it up and reads a broader picture is coming together and the mystery revolving the tree of life is better understood. Also reason to Sisyphus' unfortunate treatment by the Olympians. Aristotle first describes how creatures nearly decimated Alexander's Macedonian army on the way to Urfa. Lara notes similarities between Aristotle's account and the myth of Pandora's box how beast sprung fourth once Pandora's curiosity got the better of her. Alexanders orders his army of Ten Thousand to retreat, Aristotle though looks on. In the distance he describes a lake, from which a ferry man, Aristotle can only refer to him as Charon. A bright light emanates from the lake and the ground moves toward the it as though it were being sucked in. He tells of two trees that disappeared into its waves or underneath its waters. The masses of dead men and animals such as horses war dogs and goats bond to each other becoming chimeras. Aristotle can bear no more and flees with the Macedonian army......

Aristotle goes on to tell that Alexander believed the gods did not favor him and should return to Macedonia. Many of his generals concurred, fear was everywhere. Word spread from village to village of monstrous creatures eating the living. Then suddenly a man speaks claiming to be a soothsayer. He assures Alexander that the mighty gods favor him, it was the Persian king they favor not. The terrain was not fitting and Darius would have beaten the great king from Macedon so the gods stopped the battle. Alexander turns to him and says, "State you're name stranger!" the stranger answers, "Aesorus of Thessaly. With me is the poet Tibryan. I bring word from the gods, forget what happened, never again speak or have you're men recall men dying and rising. Pursue the Persian king you shall be victorious. And so Alexander made his men swear an oath not to utter another word on the threat of death. Days later Alexander was indeed victorious at the Battle of Issus. Aristotle however could not forget what he had witnessed. From the locals he learns the epic of Gilgamesh and other Assyrian myths and legends. He made his way back to Athens, and referenced Greek religious figures that coincided with the Assyrians'. In Athens Aristotle set out to establish the school of Lyceum, news of the temple on mount Lykiaon caused him to postpone his efforts. The temple of Zeus Lykaios was (damaged centuries before) supposedly by Zeus himself for being fed humans. A friend of Aristotle was contracted to rebuild and expand the temple, said friend invited Aristotle. While there Aristotle became more involved and later lead the project, he notes it is also there he was visited by the soothsayer Aesorus of Thessaly and his poet friend Tibryan. Aesorus reveals many of the temples secrets and with his aid find an old chamber he claimed was truly the Cave of the Thrice Three Goddesses but warns of Medusa. Agent D asks, "Do you suppose they trapped/brought Medusa here?"...

Lara reads roll after roll in them Aristotle chronicles the months and days he spent on Mt. Lykaion. Eventually Aesorus takes over the project. Furthermore the whole complex was later redesigned according to Aesorus' specifications. There are two chambers, each has a single charge station, one charge station is positively charged the other negatively charged. When maneuvered into position they are connected by conduits filled with highly conductive fluid which span the entire Temple complex. Said conduits are connected to the fuse. An elaborate copper wire leads to the fuse from the lightning rod, Zeus' lightning bolt closes the circuit.. Once Aesorus led Aristotle to the Medusa chamber he was showed the cauldron, from then on he would spend the duration of the project inside. From this very room is a passage leading to a charge station. He leaves only for short periods to converse with his friend, on such outings his friend express his misgivings about Aesorus and his poet companion. He had several confrontations with Aesorus and his poet companion, Aesorus confided in him that he was in fact under orders from Alexander himself, the Patron, not only that but he revealed to that he was the legendary Sisyphus and his partner was THE Orpheus. When my friend told me I laughed at first, they explained much, they were trying to reach the tree before it had gone under the lake. The tree is in constant motion through space and time ordained by Cronus, it never stays in one place for long, to keep it out of mortals hands. I told him what I witnessed during the brief Macedonian Persian encounter. What I told him seemed to confirm something he found out while in Persia Sisyphus believes "The tree moves by fresh water" Evidenced in the epic of Gilgamesh. Gilgamesh made a gate for the gods on the river using wood from trees he cut. Orpheus speaks and tells him that a huge amount of energy would be required to link to the tree. Sisyphus tells me the cauldron might provide answers." I spent months trying to solve the mystery of the cauldron. I am on the brink of madness, I hear voices telling me unspeakable things. I'VE DONE IT! Its perfect! I told my friend of my findings. He instantly took interest, ... Nothing more was written on the roll, Lara decides to photograph the rest of the rolls so that she could use them as reference later. The walls have graffiti, no doubt Aristotle ran out of papyrus rolls and just dribbled on the walls. Ms. Croft spots a formula labeled "Water of Life" in Greek. Lara takes a snap shot of the formula, the diagram show a shaft leading to the positive charge station. She wraps things up here and makes her way to a shelf and tugs on a roll. It retracts and reveal a stairway. Agent D says, "Astounding, could this be the first secret bookshelf passage? Those voice Aristotle mentions, you think it was our ghostly divas?" Lara replies, "More than likely, Sisyphus told him they were here" Agent D asks, "Think they're a threat?" Lara exclaims, "Perhaps, It's Medusa you should be concerned about now, the men we found up here remember? ...

The stairs end facing a water wheel, to the right is a Aqueduct and on the left is a pool of acid with copper and lead coils in it. Three huge capacitors(Capacitor banks) and Three Resistors, lastly a switch. A gap is clearly visible between the charge station and a power switch. Once the charge station is connected to the rest of the conduits this charge station will be operational. A lever starts the thing once water flows from the aqueduct to the water wheel. Ms. Croft heads towards the Aqueduct she uses the water wheel to climb atop the aqueduct. Agent D is not far behind, Lara is quite impressed by D's agility. They follow the aqueduct to it's source, the view from up here is amazing. Watch you're step though if you peer over the side you might get dizzy and fall, its a long drop. As Agent D attest to, he peers down and sees sharp crystal pikes way at the bottom. Theres a merger up ahead of two ducts, actually a split coming from its source. Water once flowing would divert to another area, No doubt it leads to the Thrice Three Goddesses room. Our duo continues towards its source, the duct turns into a small tunnel ending at a dry fountain dedicated to Pegasus the winged horse. Pegasus is suspended several feet high by golden wires, Lara and Agent D climb out of the fountain, into the Pegasus altar chamber. Pegasus is made out of fine white ivory. From here they follow a hallway arriving at the naos at the foot of Athena. A plinth with offerings, It's clear Aristotle prayed here, his offerings still present, possibly in exchange for wisdom. In her right hand is a golden saddle, Agent D asks, "Could this be a reference to Bellerophon? I don't suppose we just take the golden saddle, that would be too easy" Lara replies, "Right, it's not that simple" Lara looks at the plinth and says, "We need an offering.... THE SHIELD!" Agent D asks, "What? The one used to expose the gruesome threesome down by the cauldron?" Lara says, "The one and the same. Perseus offered it to Athena as a VOTIVE OFFERING" Agent D says, "I'll retrieve it" looks around and spots a huge corridor and a window at the end, (a two way mirror). He walks toward it and crosses an arch and suddenly the room rumbles, Lara screams, "Lookout" tugs on his vest and pulls him back. A giant guillotine blade comes slicing down at the archway, more blades, and crystal stakes fill the corridor. Lara yells, "What an amateur move that was, are you always this careless?" Agent D, "Sorry about that, It's just not my day. Must be that mirror I shattered, bad luck I suppose" Lara, "I'll retrieve the shield, you STAY HERE and don't touch anything" Lara makes her way back down the aqueduct, past the charge station, runs by Aristotle's quarters, through the key making room, out the mirror, past the frozen men, down the ladder and finally into the cauldron room. Here she retrieves the shield, when it's strikes her, Agent D might not be an amateur after all. She still suspects him of foul play, she decides to put her suspicions to rest and asks the Three Goddesses about him. "Is Agent D working with Sisyphus?" Ghostly creatures *(The truth you have been seeking all along. The truth that will bring you pain. He knows this very well, it is why he keeps it from you.. His love for you will bring him death. He shall take that truth to his grave. Hades will entrust on to you the power of life and death. Should you want to know the truth you will bring him back if not you're cousin will benefit. We urge you to end this quest and seek not the Tree not the truth and return to you're abode. It is foolish to evade the fate of mortals)* Lara is silent, takes the shield and heads back. Upon arriving at the naos she creeps up on Agent D. He stares at Athena. Lara walks up and clobbers him. Agent D, "Ah, What was that for?" Lara, "WHAT ARE YOU KEEPING FROM ME!!! TELL ME!" holding a pistol at him. Agent D realizes what she's asking him, "I CAN'T TELL YOU" Lara shouts, "WHAT!" Agent D asks, "Are you going to shoot me?" Lara lowers her weapons, she places the shield on the Plinth. Athena drops the golden saddle. The far right wall lowers to reveal a crystal passage glistening with diamonds and other precious metals. Agent D approaches Lara and plants one on her. (Kisses her) Before she starts enjoying it she pushes him away. First she retrieves the saddle and heads for Pegasus. Agent D stays put. Lara Croft ties the saddle over her shoulder and looks for a wall with indentations. The left wall looks climbable she climbs it and lowers herself onto Pegasus via a golden wire. While clinging she places the saddle over Pegasus. Meantime the added weight lowers him until his feet touch the ground. We hear a metallic sound and rushing water, a spout opens and gallons of water gush onto the fountain and down the aqueduct. Half goes to the water wheel turning it and connecting the charge station to the rest of the complex. The other half leads to the top of the Cauldron room, water spouts out from the Gargoyle's mouths into the cauldron. Lara now heads back to the naos, over to the now opened crystal passage. Agent D, "My Apologies Lady Croft, I shouldn't have" D just stands there until Lara says, "You coming?"

The drama continues.....
A smirk on Lara's face. His mood now lightens, he follows close behind her. Sharp shards of crystal make the crossing treacherous, slowly the corridor takes on a hall of mirrors form. It is difficult to distinguish open passage from mirror, confused Agent D takes a wrong step. The floor is a mirror and breaks, Lara quickly grabs hold of him, D looks beneath and sees crystal spikes. He is able to get a foothold on the edge and climbs up. More of these holes are everywhere, making the crossing harder. They trek with caution and try to get their bearings straighten out. Agent D pans left and then right, he sees Lara and tries catching up, but instead he bumps into a mirror. The corridor now resembles a kaleidoscope, D is disoriented he can't tell which way is which. He calls out to Lara, "Ms.Croft I've seemed to have lost my way, where are you?" Ms. Croft turns back and she too is disoriented, D's profile is distorted and reflected amongst the surfaces. In that moment as D called out to her, Lara has another flashback about her and cousin fallen into the dungeon. D's voice sounds is replaced by Ethan's, "Lara is that you?" ...

A) you need to have an over-the-top, rock solid idea for TRU, or

bring

The feeling that you're alone in a tomb, that anything can come and get you
fix the controls
do not make this another kids game
after TRU, PLEASE I AM BEGGING YOU! Come up with a new great story line. NO MORE NATLA!!
Bring back the old TR feel
fire the one who writes the storyline, and hire someone new who has played TR since the beginning, NOT "When it comes to classic TR games, I can not say anything right"
TRU is not that epic.
Read the whole list until it haunts you.

back,

B) you can make a case for (or against) re-imagining the Dagger of Xian to follow Underworld.

Please, NO MORE remakes. Days-of-Our-Lives-Wannabe-Anniversary was enough. They(CD) do NOT know what a remake is. I mean come on, is it really that hard to see a difference between re-imagining and remake? Couldn't they just have kept Lara's attitude AT LEAST?
"No, we gotta make a tedious game, not providing a good game play, not providing a good dialogue, and we're going to blame everything on the rating system! We are going to make Lara look at her hands after she kills a mouse.and get rid of bad ass attitude just to get more kids to play the game and get more cash. YAY! Let's do that! Let's bring back Toby and make her all barbey! Let's put white ledges everywhere and make her cry after her daddy, which had nothing to do with the original game!"

I am sure they said that. Now after what has happened with 'anniversary', are you sure you want to take such a big step?

(1) The entire Legend synopsis, including for example, the fact that Amanda was able to decipher the Avalon mystery independently and ahead of Lara, the fact that Lara now possesses the Unknown Entity and Excalibur and all the stuff about her Father and Mother.

Legend was another DOOL wannabe. It was all graphics-only-happen-game and it had nothing to do with TR at all. I am betting money, that CORE are laughing their asses of atm @ what CD did.

(2) The re-imagined TRA created a backstory linking Lara's Father, the Scion and made casual references to the disappearance of Lara's mother.

for ****s sake, The original TR had nothing to do with her daddy. And not to mention, they changed her bio from:

'A though female who plays for sport'

to:

'A barbie who is still trying to find out what happened to her mother'

(3) TRU will attempt to resolve questions left hanging at the end of Legend: remember Lara's father was right about everything (not mad) and there may still be time to do something about it! Also, Prof. Eddington will meet Lara at the museum and he'll know why (presumably to review related collected and uncollected artifacts and theories) ... and so on.

sigh

Do they actually need to make three 'games' for that?

(4) if Xian is be re-imagined then it needs a hook. there are plenty of reasons to consider the re-imagining but we need a story line hook. For example, could there be a connection or commonality to the dagger magic and Excalibur? Are these remotely connected to the Scion?? Did Bartoli have remote knowledge of the Scion a/o Avalon with regard to a rationale for immortality??? ... and so on.

Again, about tr2 remake. God forbid. And are you kidding me? The dagger of Xian- I am not even saying that. It sounds so wrong and DOOL-ripp-off-ish.

Seriously! WE DO NOT NEED ANOTHER FIVE GAMES ABOUT ATLANTIS!!

Yes, it WOULD be simple. Every time you kill one of Bartolis men, a cut scene plays, showing Lara looking at her hands, running away crying, and letting Batrtoli to destroy the world while she goes to "New London" And finds everyone she thought are dead there.

see? even I can do it.

Now I am IMPATIENTLY waiting for responses, saying what kind of idiot I am.

Anyhow this next part is how I would possibly connect Anniversary with my current storyline...
Still in the flashback Lara answers, "Yes! Where are you?" The scene then pans out to Richard and Errol arguing about something. Errol asks, "Richard are you planning to excavate on our ancestral home?" Richard responds, "No, I'm just here for clues" Errol continues, "You think these clues might lead to Amelia?" Richard, "You're going to think I'm MAD, but what Lara described!? I believe Amelia accidentally found a way into Avalon" Errol, "You've got to be joking, and you believe it's here?" Richard, "Many myths and legends speak of a mystic Island, and all accounts agree on its location, West. I hold a manuscript in my hand from our great ancestor, he believed it lead to the Garden of Eden. The search took him to a series of Islands West of the pillars of Hercules." Errol asks, "For GOD's sake Richard don't tell me you're on a bloody treasure hunt for Atlantis." Richard replies, "Not at all, He was looking for something called the 3rd Key, Poseidon supposedly hid it on Atlantis" Errol,..."AND?" Richard "He found IT! He was knighted by the king and giving domain over Abbingdon, although he never found the garden, the 3rd key gave England supremacy over the sea." Errol asks, "Pish posh, Really Richard you think this 3rd key, is worth seeking for?" Richard answers, "Yes! It's last know location was here" Errol, "Where are the children? Ethan!? Lara!? Richard yells, "Lara!?, Come on out now, Ethan? Lara!?? We pan to the to Lara and Ethan. Lara, "How are we going to get out?" Ethan, "This way follow me!" Lara asks, "Do you know where you're going?" Lara's cousin grabs hold of her hand and leads her forward getting covered by spiderwebs. Lara asks, "Are these spiderwebs?" Before Ethan could answer a big spider crawls on his face. He screams and runs like crazy, dragging Lara behind. Just then Ethan reaches the chasm with the cannon and goes over the edge. Ethan, "AAAH, LARA STOP, HELP HELP" Our young heroine stops and instinctively knows he's reached a cliff of some sort, stops and holds on to her cousin. The situation looks grim.......

it would satisfy the fans.

No, it would not. I am an avid Classic fan, and I would be enraged if CD "re-imagined" Tomb Raider II, or any other Classic Tomb Raider game for that matter.

It's bad enough that they decided to wipe out the hard core Lara -->THE ORIGINAL FANBASE<-- grew up with and replacing her with an over-emotional wet blanket, hell-bent on finding her Mumsy, EVEN IF IT MEANS BRINGING THE WORLD TO THE BRINK OF DESTRUCTION. Wow, does her selfishness know no bounds?

Remakes are NOT the way to go, unless it is a faithful one. E.G. NOT Legend Lara parading around Classic Lara's world, looking for clues on how to go about getting Mumsy out of Avalon. Stop trying to blend the two and make "your" Lara stand on her own two feet.

Here's an over-the-top, rock solid idea: Quit ganking bits and peices of Classic Lara's life and create something original for once.

Well I think the TR2 formula should be used as a guideline for future games. I use it for the Fan fic I post here, If anyone reads it. My point is something new should follow Underworld, but perhaps the next game could provide hints as to how it leads up to TR2. For instance Bartoli should make an appearance in some form.

Lara tries as she might to hold on to Ethan as he is slowly slipping away. Ethan, "Don't let me go!" Lara, "Hold on" Then Ethan slips away and falls, Lara yells, "Ethan! Ethan!" The scene changes to the present, where Agent D is trying to find Lara. Lara again yells, "Ethan!" *Stretching her hand forth * Agent D responds, "Where are you!! Countess?! You're cousin isn't here right now!" Our heroine snaps out of it. Ms. Croft exclaims, "Agent D?!"Just then D finds Lara. Agent D, "There you are Ms. Croft!" Lara, "Right, lets continue shall we?" Agent, "I take it you and your cousin have some issues" Lara, "Well if were asking questions, allow me to asks how exactly did you encounter Sisyphus?" Agent D, "Not something I like remember, but since its you. I was in Egypt, following some leads, closing in on a notorious art dealer, suspected of art theft and antiquities smuggling. I though I was going to do a typical stake out, and bag the bad guys without surprises, by the numbers. I didn't know how wrong I was, Sisyphus' men were exceptionally skilled. I lost many good men that day, the smugglers hide out was an apartment on the fringes of Cairo. When we arrived they sabotaged the antiques and took one item with them. My men and I gave chase across the city, one by one my men fell victim to what I can now describe as magic, I managed to survive long enough to see them board a ship on the Suez canal. A figure appeared on the ships end, I got a glimpse of his face, I experience the same thing from Greece, a noise then I passed out. When I woke the ship and the thieves were gone, with only a face to go by It was a hard lead to follow. In my search I came close to catching him on several occasions, adding pieces to the puzzle, until I was able to get a glimpse of the big picture" Lara, "Which is?" suddenly they reached the end of the corridor, and came upon a giant Clam.... A majestic Aphrodite fresco on the wall along with mirrors, on the clam is a Adamantine curve sword once belonging to Perseus with an eye looking pearl in it's pommel. Lara exclaims, "The eye!"....

To me, it just seems to describe these kinds of "anti-CD" reactions.
Do they want "faithful remakes", or "original ideas". I think they just want Core back. (sounds awfully close to "I want my mommy"). It isn't going to happen, Core lost its chance with AoD (no excuses).
It also seems to me like they're being unreasonable about it, Core did fail, now CD have the reigns. If CD is doing something that Core didn't/couldn't do, I don't see the point in complaining about it. CD may not be Core ('mommy'), but it can certainly take TR places Core couldn't go.

Which is where exactly. Nowhere or back to square one.

Which is where exactly. Nowhere or back to square one.

Nope. TR wise, and only considering gameplay, it would appear so. But it's a foothold. There's little chance a company could simply make a next-gen TR game now. (Listen to the 1st official podcast). CD now have the tools, and the ability to make beautiful next-gen games. The high technical quality required for such games to be made requires experience, and is a challenge. Core never managed to make a good next-gen engine. TR1-5 is basically the same game engine, with a little improvement each time. This was found out as 'too little' eventually, and so when they tried to bring it 'up to scratch' with a next-gen engine, AoD was the result.
CD's TR:L and TR:A may not have had the greatest of TR elements in gameplay, but CD now have a good base with which to add that on. No other company at this moment, or in the near future, has the ability to make TR games as good as what CD now can. (We've still got to see what TR:U will deliver). Any attempts by any other company would just be AoD: Redux (or TR:L: Redux, if you prefer). (And I'm not meaning the good story).
So it's not square one exactly... square one itself would mean no TR games. It's the square that allows current-gen TR games to be made. (And CD is learning to fill the shoes of the TR side of things).

Ok agree. But that's why TRU is now starting to give me the heebeegeebees. It's starting to feel like AOD redux all over again. Next-Gen, epic, darker etc. etc. I want and like the way they transitioned from TR1 to TR2, no daddy or mommy, story, no feeling bad when something bad happens. It just seems so Steven Seagal. So Rush hour hour. Don't ask why.

I would doubt CD is gonna fail as hard as that. The difference between Core's hype, and the hype now is CD has been there and done that in the area of technology. Core had pretty much stayed with what it had, which was 'fine' until it collapsed. CD now have a successful development model in place, all that's missing to please the (most) hardcore of fans is the TR, which isn't hard to fit into CD's model. (The failing would be in TR aspect of gameplay, which has so far improved, even though CD still have yet to make a TR game with the elements of TR enough to please the fans. It is a positive trend, though).

Saying that, I think that the fans will need to look elsewhere in TR games, possibly, and be open to helping tools. CD (seem to be) looking at a wider target audience of players. Not everyone wants to struggle around for hours on a puzzle, or getting lost. Gadgets like the map tool, or Lara saying what to do allow for more complex puzzles, and more complex exploration, because there's an easy way out for the fans who are action oriented.
It could also be that CD 'hides' most of its challenge into finding secrets and rewards, so that first playthrough is more the tip of the iceburg than anything else. Plenty of secrets/rewards to find, and a challenge to find them idea.

Agent D, "Its a pearl?" Lara takes it carefully and now informs D they must return to the Cauldron room. As we exit, for a split second a horrid reflection of Aphrodite on the mirrors give Lara an eerie feeling. She turns quickly and sees nothing out of the ordinary. Agent D asks, "What's wrong?" Lara, "Nothing, Lets keep going". Our heroes make it back to the naos, from there the reach the Pegasus alter room. They dive into the fountain and swim to our the tunnel into the aqueduct. Lara notices the Pearl Eye reacting to the water. The water glows, and the Pearl becomes transparent. Lara puts it in her backpack for safe keeping. At the junction our heroes get separated. Agent D heading for above the Thrice Three Goddesses room. Lara on the other hand is heading for the charge station. Agent D, "Countess!" The water is quickly pulling her towards the waterwheel and could spell disaster for our heroine. Due to the wheel now turning steadily, Lara Croft has tries to get a hand hold of the edge of the aqueduct, but can't get a grip. Seconds from the wheel she quickly maneuvers to the right therefore falls right of the waterwheels paddles. With one flick of the wrist she flings her grapple at it and manages to coast to a stop at the bottom without damage. Wondering what became of D lara gets her head in the game and gets to work. Meanwhile Agent D reaches the end of the waterway and into a cistern. He climbs out and finds himself in a creepy place. Lara makes her way to the lever viewed before to turn the whole thing one. The wheel helps her make it across the gap and some hand holds on the adjacent wall. Once reaching the lever she gives it a pull and the place comes alive. Something connects the Charge station to the complex via a plug looking thing between the gap. A surge of power just transferred to the complex and sets the first stage of completion. She gets back down and takes this opportunity and heads directly for the cauldron. She treks past the Aristotle's quarters, the key making room all the way to the Thrice Three Goddesses room. Once she enters the spells glow about the room the ghostly creatures are in an uproar, ecstatic they yell in unison *Throw it* Lara sees the water spouting from the gargoyles into a single cascade down the middle into the cauldron. The cauldron filled to capacity and the light from Medusa's eyes glitter in the water. The Creatures repeat, *Throw it!* Lara hurl it at the cascade directly in the cross section. Just then we hear gun fire, Lara draws her guns. Agent D comes out of one the the alcoves screaming "Ms. Croft, WAIT! Don't give them the eye!" the ghostly creatures in unison*TOO LATE, RRRRRRAAA finally we have it!" Lara aims at the goddesses, they laugh, go into a euphoric trans and combine into one. We hear a rumble, the place shakes, the eyes shines a foreboding color. The room gets darker, Lara Croft uses her pistols as mirrors to look back at Medusa. What Lara sees is the head rise stretched and removing the mask, the head was had a serpentine body to go along with it, Lara is spotted on the pistols and comes forth towards us. The ground beneath Medusa opens up to reveal the crystal pikes. The Creatures have become one goddess. The gargoyles spring to life, Agent D mentions smaller Medusa's' behind him. He makes a gutsy move he jumps and snatches the eye from the Sisters. They screams *NOOOOOO! BLAST YOU!* You will never escape this place it will be your tomb. Agent D exclaims, "Do we run now?" Lara can't believe her eyes its the tree of life in the cauldron. She splashes the water, its unattainable at this point. Heads for the exit but Medusa's Slithering her way in D tosses a grenade to block her path. Lara responds, "Now we run".....

The Grenade momentarily stunned Medusa but won't stop her. Agent D, "Medusa is blocking the way out! Lara, "This way!" Lara climbs out through the hole left behind by the shield. The Medusa creature groans loud enough to shatter all the mirrors everywhere in the chamber. Setting off all the traps behind them, spears and arrows fly lose crisscrossing the place. Lara looks down to find the floor opened up to reveal a snake pit, spiked with glass and crystal pikes. The entrance doors are closing, they're locked in with Medusa. Lara quick witted sees a spear inserted on the wall within reach, she flings her grapple and swings out Agent D climbs up and replies, "I don't have one of those!" Lara swings back and says, "Jump! Take my hand!" Agent D jumps and Lara swings him atop a platform. Medusa yells, *I'll turn you to stone* having just missed them she backs her body out of there The Ghostly Creatures exit the cauldron room along with a horde of gargoyles, Medusea amongst other horrid creatures. Lara jumps and spider mans her way towards D, he extends his hand and helps her up. Lara spies pieces of broken glass grabs one and hands D another. Our Duo make their way past the stone priest an eerie reminder of what happen to them. They run past the Aristotle passage come to an intersection, and hide from Medusa momentarily. Once out Medusa prowls the vast chamber to find our heroes. Agent D, "If we don't make it out of here.." Lara, "First rule in this line of work, you always make it out alive, if you start thinking like that, you're already dead" Agent D, "Right, Have a plan then" Lara, "Yes Make it out alive. Agent D! Randal, don't look at her eyes, use the mirror while aiming" Agent D, "What! I'm not a bloody exhibition shooter, you want me to cut a playing card too" Lara, "Focus, Lets split up we'll have a better chance, Remember Make it out alive! Agent D, "Likewise"

Our Duo splits off to confuse Medusa. The place is swarming with mythic monsters. Suddenly Medusa finds Lara, she makes a run for it. Medusa goes after her. Lara is now at the top of her game with Medusa hot on her heals.... The Serpentine Monster tries to sink her snake like fangs into Ms. Croft, but is unsuccessful. Which explains the fang marks she found earlier. Lara sees a passage above to her right, she runs left and up the wall, back flips and makes it into the passage narrowly missing Medusa. Lara eyes closed back flips again and does a mid air roll in order to face away from Medusa. Ms. Croft opens her eyes and sees sharp spikes directly in front, she does an Olympic style standing jump and makes it to the other side. Medusa can't fit in this passage she circles around to try and cut Lara off up ahead. The tunnel she is in is riddled with traps. Old bladed chains like a chainsaw aims to slice Lara. She dives rolls to avoid them. Next are spinning blades from below the sides and the ceiling. She split jumps like (Sam Fisher) then jumps past it, slides to avoid the side blades and ducks to avoid the ceiling blade. What's a TR game without smashing walls. Timing is essential, Lara gets it down easy. The exit is within reach, but first she must endure a nasty bear trap looking things. And she's home free. Uh not quite there one last trap and is one of those adrenaline things. Medusa rears her ugly face. Lara is quick to close her eyes but must continue past her. Using her instinct. She dives towards a corner past Medusa behind Lara springs the last deadly trap and swings forward at Medusa's face. Unfortunately Medusa has four ugly faces and eight arms so this won't kill her. Medusa gets stabbed right between the eyes by pikes. She groans and swings her body wildly momentarily closing her eyes. Lara hearing her raging screams opens her eyes and wastes no time. Runs for it and makes it past her jumping from tier to tier. Ahead are those ghostly creatures cursing Lara name, gargoyles with them. It's a cat and mouse game at the moment. Lara has a "Lara Croft epiphany moment" and the answer comes to her. Suddenly she spots Agent D he's being chased by a army of raging Medusea, Jumping from tier to tier Lara yells Agent D head for Athena, for the naos, Medusa now regains her composure and spots Lara, this time though Medusa's tactics change she intends to cut them off, from reaching the Athena room. Lara realizes this and says that's it! " Agent D hurry!" The race is on ........

TRAOD never hapenned in the new storyline, so the chance is 0.1% that they re-make it or continue it.
