View Full Version : A Message To Eidos

I wanted to post for all to read what I sent to Butler Winston Smith, the 'community specialist' of this forum. I want Eidos to take input from DeusEx 1 fans and seriously give it consideration to help them make another great game LIKE THE FIRST DEUS EX. If they don't, the game will fail like Deus Ex 2. And not only that; the chance to redeem the name Eidos and the Deus Ex franchise will be wasted. Us fans need to be adamant about reinforcing the fact that we are ultimately the ones the game will have to 'go through' to get to GREAT and therefore, a money-maker.

"Is the Deus Ex 3 team going to take some ideas from the forum and incorporate them into the game? Before DXIW came out, I don't think anyone could have ever thought it would be as unlike DX1 as it is. I would have been one to buy DX2 but I always read the fan's criticisms of a new game and the scales were overwhelmingly tipped to DISASTEROUS. These critics were dedicated fans of the first Deus Ex as I was and still am. They knew what they were talking about. I never bought DX2 and won't. Deus Ex 1 was the first pc game I ever bought...talk about getting lucky! I have played Deus Ex since 2000 - played single player thru at least 10 times and multiplayer as well. I love the worlds of Deus Ex 1. Their realism and the way the game unfolded much according to my choices made me forget I was playing a game and that has been pointed out as the mark of a TRULY great game in this genre. I hope you guys will listen to the original Deus Ex fans and post questions and polls on the forums too...take the feedback and mix it with the creative and technical talent of the development team and mold it all into a game that will be a legend like its founding father."

Feedback is always appreciated but you shouldn't send private messages to random staff members with your comments. This is what the forum is here for.

Butler Winston Smith doesn't work for Eidos (nor post here) any more.

Had you read about a bit before sending annoying PM's to random staff members, you would have read that Keir, being the community manager, is already taking feedback from the forum and relaying it to the development team.

Also keep stupid IW bashing into another one of the topics. We really don't need another.

Yeah. Everyone should stop saying "I liked this, didn't like that". I did it myself, but every single thing and argument you can think of has been posted, so it's just annoying and useless.

Heh, Dx is one of those games that provokes a response from everyone who enjoyed it. We all want a better game this time around and this is the place to say it.

Lets not start taking cheap potshots at each other either - lets just concentrate on getting the message through.

DOitlikeDEUSEX1 did what he did because he loves the game, just like the rest of us.

There's plenty of threads that "get the message through". We don't need hundreds of them saying the exact same thing over and over. Most of us like the game, yes, but that doesn't mean we need to clog up the forum and pester the developers (although in this case he sent one to someone who doesn't even work at Eidos anymore and didn't have anything to do with the game anyway).

Since I feel that this particular thread is going in the direction it was obviously not meant to go, I am inclined to close it.

@DOitlikeDEUSEX1,

Eidos' people who inhabit these forums do read the threads, so your comments won't remain unseen. If you strongly object to thread closure, send me PM and we'll talk about it. Otherwise, enjoy your stay. :)
