Hi i've read a lot of threads about TDP and xp and I tried a lot of things but I just can't get TDP to work on my pc.

I had no problems with installing thief but when i trie to run the game it first gives a black screen and then crashes to desktop saying there is an error in thief.exe.

These are my computer specs:
CPU: Intel Pentium D 830 @ 3.00 GHz
MB: Intel D945PSN with onboard audio running on Sigmatel driver
GPU: Nvidia Geforce 7800 GTX 512MB (forceware 162.18, latest directx version)
RAM: 1024MB
Windows XP Pro SP2

I hope someone can help me with this cause I really want to play the game

There are several issues at play. First, Thief 1 and 2 will not run on dual processors. You need to set affinity to one processor. The TTLG FAQ page (http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=75031#hyperthread) explains how to do this. Second, TDP will not run at all on any Nvidia drivers 9xxx and above. Most drivers in the 8xxx series and below will not recognize your card. The secret to solving this dilemma is to find some 8xxx drivers with a modified INF file. I recently found what appears to be the perfect set of drivers, posted here (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showpost.php?p=1744187&postcount=302).

Have you installed DirectX 10? If you have, there could be other issues with rendering, but it will probably work anyway since your video card only runs DX 9.

If you have Thief 2, you should also remove the semicolon the line ;safe_texture_manager from your USER.CFG file in the Thief 2 program directory.

Let us know if that works and if you have any further problems. :)
