View Full Version : Annoying shadow on 8800GTX

The pics below clearly show the annoying shadow present in the game on my Geforce 8800GTX. The shadow constantly moves along with my character on the horizon. I run WinXP Pro SP2 and have installed the latest nVidia driver 158.22. On my previous Geforce 6800GT this shadow was not present. Any help on how to get rid of the shadow?

Those images looks fine to me.

IMHO your 6800GT may not have the capability to run
the game in full detail. Now that you got a 8800GTX, this
might be how the game is truly suppose to look like?

What monitor are you running on?

I don't think the 8800 cards were even available by the time the game was released. My 6800GT could run this game in full detail at 1280x1024. The shadow is also not present on my friend's 7900GTX. I have never even seen this shadow on screen shots of the game. When you see the shadow in action you'll immediately realize that it's unnatural - it's like this big blob moving over the landscape. I use an Acer 19" AL1951cs 4ms LCD monitor.

Don't think your the one experiencing this issue. Also don't think everyone with an 8800 GTX is having this issue. It seems to be one of these strange things that is just damn hard to track down.

The issue generally perplexes me as I have seen 8880's run this game perfectly and then a few people come around and post this issue. On top of this issue I get flickering trees and textures within this game. Is the shadow issue the only thing your experiencing ?

Here are some examples others posted. This issue has not been much talked about online so it's hard to guage how widespead the issue or what the cause is.

Video I created which shows this issue among others :

A guy who has this issue and posted huge example pics :

On the oppisite end - A video taken by an 8800 owner who knows nothing of this issue :

I really hope 8800 owners come foward to help us out here. Are you having the issue with your cards or not ?

I get flickering trees and landscape as well.
I did not have any issues on my 6800GT and the game is also running fine on my friend's 7900GTX.
All my other games are running fine on the 8800GTX, apart from Just Cause.

Lonewolf, I am also experiencing the same issue, my gfx card is also a geforce 8800 GTX, this issue is extremely noticable and extremely annoying. My card has the latest drivers and my windows has SP2, however i do own a 64 bit edition of XP

Yes, I'm also having this problem. The game looked fine on my ATi X850 Pro, but I upgraded this week to an ASUS 8800GTS 640mb card which produced this weird shadow - it's like I'm being stalked by a flying saucer.

Hello
I wanna kindly ask:
Have You solved problems with annoying shadows present in Just Cause?
I've got exactly the same problem with my asus 8800 GTS 640 MB and all drivers I tried( eg. latest 169.21)
I'll be very thankfull for answer or any kind of help.
I like this game very much but can't play it with those silly shadows everywhere :(
