Title. I'm pretty worn out because I just bought this and it doesn't work because of some issues with the game launch files. I've tried setting my launch options to my resolution and to -dxlevel 80. Is there any other solutions to this as I really want to play this game so I can start my lets play of it. All help would be very appreciated, but when I say help, please no "uninstall/reinstall, update drivers, ect." please.

Thanks!

Have you tried opening the game with the -windowed parameter? Also make sure you have the latest DirectX install.

Yes I ran it with the windowed parameter and it worked! Thank you very much!

It is impossible to get onto the site to report a but with this game. I bought it the 14th & it won't allow me onto the game. Have been on the phone with the tech dept 5 or 6 times, have called accounting twice already. No one can get this darn problem resolved for me. I've called my router company, they walked me through opening ports on my router, called my Time Warner Road Runner, they don't block ports. I am getting jerked around over this and am getting fed up. I have like 6 tickets on this one of which is 21153803 and when I call accounting they tell me I've only called them twice so far about the problem???This is how they deal with problems getting resolved? Just how many times do you have to call them to get any place with them? How about the5 or 6 times I had to call tech? That doesn't count? How about the phone bill I am going to get for this? That doesn't count? Something is wrong with the game I downloaded on their site and it won't allow me access to the game. Keeps giving me error messages, POL-5310, POL-0512, POL0515, POL-0207 etc etc. There is nothing wrong with my internet connection nor my router nor my computer. Something is wrong with the game and they refuse to help me get this resolved. The bug site won't allow me to post tells me I don't have a valid character id. I have a character but I have never been able to get onto the game with it since I bought it 8PM on the 14th of May. How can Square Enix do this to people? Sure they got their $39.99 for the game but I can't even get onto the game and no one gives a darn. Played this game years ago with a darn webtv hookup and didn't have these problems. Remember Webtv? Figured I would play this until the new FF XIV comes out but that is a joke. Seems to me something probably went wrong with the download of the game but will they help me???? NO!! The tech dept had me do everything possible to get the game going and they have exhausted all options. I've played, WOW, EQ2 extended, Guild Wars, Dungeons and Dragons, Lord of th Rings, Runescape and many others online and have never had such problems as with this game and trying to get onto it so it is not my set up nor my computer which is just over a year old and running on Windows 7 64 bit. Never had to have specific ports opened on my router for any game before either. This is just amazing that this issue cannot be resolved. I even took my router offline with direct hookup and no game access, turned off my firewall, did everything but nothing is working to get me on. Just what the heck do I do now since they won't help resolve this? Think it is time for a refund I think!!

I finished the main download to the game last night but when I restarted the launcher today it seems there is another patch. This patch is like 1035.90M and about 999.31 into it the status lines begins to move fast and then a message pops up that says "A problem occured while updating. Please restart Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reobrn (Beta) version.

I have redone the download about 5x. So far same thing everytime. I tried running as an adminstrator as was suggested on another forum.

Anyone else having this issue?

Right now the servers are probably being hammered as everyone is trying to get their code updated in preparation for tomorrows Early Access.. Is it resuming the download or redoing the whole new lot each time? (just thinking of your bandwidth etc)

It has to restart the whole download each time. It's a fast download (like 5 mins) because I'm getting like 6M per seconds...but it's still annoying that it gives me the message right at the very end of the download. Just hoping someone had a suggestion...and it's odd that it mentions beta in the error...I never did any beta testing...

I believe until the servers go live they're still named Beta..

Wowsers...well upon trying to get the error again it finished the download...It seemed to get hung up once it's moving to the next patch connection...I guess just keep trying it until it goes thru...

Thanks for the helps and replies!

I had this problem until I disabled the Spybot search and destroy resident program. Once I killed the process in task manager, the patch went through the first time. Hope this helps

So I finally got my early access code, spent nine hours downloading the game, and then when joy of joys I saw that it was complete, I went to install. It told me that the same file version was already installed. Does that mean that I did not have to spend that nine hours of anticipation and miss out on the first hour and a half or early access? Could I have just opened the Beta file and played from there? I kind of feel like shooting myself in the face for waiting anxiously for so long.
Not that I'm complaining, I'm super excited for the last few minutes of this installation to be over so I can jump back in, but I am curious if anyone was able to just play from their previously installed Beta file, and I will be disappointed in myself if it would have been as easy as waiting for 2AM and then just logging in.
Also will be good information for anyone out there still waiting for their EA keys to join in. The shorter the wait time the better.

Ok I want to know why I can't install the game on my PS3. I have rebuilt the database, system restore, and rebuilded the file system. I have called Verizon and checked my internet connection and that is good. I have power cycled my internet connection as well. I am still getting the 80029564. The install stops at 14%.

This is not a prob with the game or your system! It's a server issue!

"Corrupt File" Error & an error code! "80029564" But any way, Here is what I did to fix the prob!

1- Do NOT delete the file!

2- Check your setting to make sure "Scan for media server" Is turned off!
( You can turn it on again after!)

3- Download the file again from PS Store ONLY!
NOT FROM YOUR TRANSACTION LIST ON PS3! EVEN THOUGH THE ERROR TELLS YOU TO!!!! &
>>>>>>>>>>>>"DO NOT "DOWNLOAD IT IN BACKGROUND!!!"<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
Just sit & suffer until it's done!

4- Do NOT allow the screen saver to come on!
Just hit a button on the controller every 5 min's or so!

5- After the download completes, You should have no prob installing!
Remember to try installing the NEW Download! NOT the Old Corrupt one!

6- After install has completed, You may turn on "Scan for Media Server" again (In Your Settings) &

delete the Corrupt file that didn't work! (RE-Step 1 )

I have just finished dowload on the first 109mb file wich i think is the launcher? But thats where it stops :( when trying to open the launcher or patcher it starts patching for like a second then stops and then it tells me "unable to patch files. [11005][20815][20866][19900][32] C:/Programfiles(x86)/SquareEnix/FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn/boot/ffxivboot.exe". I have tried everything almost and i really wanna play this game :(

Any solution to this?

I know the download servers were down just a little while ago to add a new patch. Try again and see if it is still not working.

If not, make sure the directory is not set to read only and you are running the program as an administrator.

where did you download the client from? There was an old phase 3 beta client launcher that will no longer work, make sure you didn't accidently download that.

Here is the official download page, did you download it from that? http://www.finalfantasyxiv.com/playersdownload/na/

Try Googling your error code, this is the first one I get when I do that:

Various suggestions are made in there and links to other forums where this was discussed in the last few days.

So, I am intrigued to say I final was able to buy Final Fantasy XIV! :D But with a slight problem. The website I bought it from "Gamesrocket.com" supplied me with a key code, but no download link. Is there anyway I can install a client through the Final Fantasy website? Or somewhere? Thank you.

Hi so I just bought the pre-order version of the game. I then downloaded the early acces version and I had no problems playing the game untill today a few minutes ago. When I wanted to log-in. The screen went back to the default installation screen and I was like WTF!!??? I thought my PSN account was actually linked to the game right? How the hell is my account gone all of a sudden? Why in the world should I do everything anew. What is going on here? I really don't like doing everything over. I'm pretty frustrated right now I payed 80 euros and just after 4 days of playing I can't log-in and I have to re-install the game? What should I do? Should I use the CD version right now? Somebody explain to me what's going on here?

I really don't know what it is you're seeing but then I don't play on a PS3, but take a look at your SE Account to see what it thinks the state of your account is, maybe something there would give you some idea what happened.

You need to register the retail code of the game to your account. Early access expired tonight.

Do I need to use the CD or can I use the retail code for the PSN version? I really don't want to lose my progress and in game items.:)

Unfortunately I have no experience with the ps3 registration process, so someone else will have to answer that. I only know how to register the pc version. But I do know early access expired today and if you haven't registered your retail version, your account will be listed as inactive.

Type the code (12 digits) that square give you into the psn redeem option from the xmb. After you enter it, it will take you to the store to download it. The code maybe in an email or on the back of the little puny instruction manual if you have the hard copy.

Don't download it, hit back, relaunch the game and relink your account. Be sure to select your current service account, do not create a new service account. I repeat do not create a new service account. Click next at the bottom the page. You'll have to scroll down a bit. Finish that, it'll bring you back to the launcher. Click play. Win.

Good luck.

I have the same thing happening on the PC version. Why the heck do I have to re-register the game all over again? I do not have a "retail" code - just the early access code. I bought the PC version early as a download from Amazon... When I log into the game it should link to my Square Enix account and be set to go. This is really shabby SE!

I'm running Win8-64 with a working installation of DirectX 11. When I try to install ff14 the installer indicates that a new version of DirectX needs to be installed. I am given an option to install or cancel. Cancelling aborts the installation of the game.

I understand ff14 uses DirectX 9.0c or higher. Why is the installer for ff14 indicating I need to install a newer version of DirectX when my installed version is DirectX 11?

If this is a bug in the installer which isn't properly checking the version I do not feel comfortable using software which seems unprofessionally written. My biggest concern is that allowing the installation to continue could botch up my current installation of DirectX. But I'm also concerned that if this "need to install a newer version of DirectX error" is just a simple oversight and no changes would actually be made on my system, what other potentially serious oversights or problems/bugs might be apparent in the installer and/or the game itself?

Jeffers
31st Aug 2013, 15:30
From a technical point of view, the game probably requires a specific component from DirectX 9.0c or an older dll in order to run properly. While DirectX 11 will be backward compatabile if a program is looking for a specific version it won't work or continue with an install until it see's the requirements are met.

You shouldn't run into any issues by continuing with the installation of DirectX that the game is suggestion. Create a restore point as security before doing the install (steps on this website should help http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/4690-restore-point-create-windows-8-a.html) and you should be able to roll back if anything goes wrong.

General warning I put on any technical posts that I put on forums is you follow the advice at your own risk and I take no responsibility for anythign that goes wrong.

Thank you for your input. I guess I feel that if DirectX 9.0c is specifically required they shouldn't be indicating that DX 9.0c "or higher" is required. I know my issue is small potatoes but it leaves a very unprofessional taste in my mouth. I don't want to install multiple DX versions anyway.

I have decided not to install the game at this point. I may look into it again at a later date if DirectX 11 actually is implemented or if I read that the current implementation will actually work with DirectX 9.0c + as their requirements indicate.

Again, thank you.

If you have the EA version installed all you need to do is register your code that comes with your physical copy, otherwise you will reinstall and have to download the 2 gig update in the launcher. Just redeem the code and don't choose to download, that should do the trick for you.

Maintenance on the FFXIV servers wouldn't affect using a PSN game registration voucher on the PS3 as this is something that shows your PSN account is valid to then log into the launcher. It's all Sony's side of things with these reg codes.

TheRealKraggy
6th Sep 2013, 06:41
Is this every time you play? Does it last all the time you play?

Hover your mouse over the little 'wireless like' glowing icon above the mini-map and see what the S & R times are. These monitor the Send and Receive times of packets to the server and back, the numbers are in milliseconds. That'll give you a clue whether it's normal lag or not.

There are many people suffering from their ISP throttling P2P (aka. movie and music stealing) and this is affecting this game because SE are using P2P-like methods of linking the the game to the servers, you may be suffering from that.

Without any other evidence re-installing isn't likely to be of any help, though it might be worth running the game windowed and checking the Task Manager Performance tab just to check you don't have something running on your system (like an A/V package) that's using a lot of time.

SethTP
6th Sep 2013, 14:43
Thanks, The little wireless icon shows im sending something like 6000+ and receive 3000+. I was watching the performance tab and things look ok. I switched to a newly opened server and it cleared up so it must be lag to the server. for some reason the server time is several hours ahead of me does that mean its over sea? I thought midguarsomr was a NA server ?

TheRealKraggy
6th Sep 2013, 14:49
Indeed, that tends to eliminate networking problems. Certainly I've seen some horrible times in the cities on loaded servers.

I don't know what region that server is off the top of my head, check the server list next time you're at the character selection screen: the NA/EU server farm is in Canada, I would assume the server time therefore would be EST (I assume Quebec is in that zone).

doing a search on html parsing error kb927917 I see a lot of search results saying this is related to IE8, is that your default browser? I'm not sure how the PC FFXIV launcher works but I would have assumed it's web-based with the default browser?

TheRealKraggy
13th Sep 2013, 10:03
Indeed Hippy, it uses IE in embedded mode, ie. as a callable module, so it's IE that is having the problem but IE is appearing in the Launcher's window instead of its own as happens when you run the IE application.

I suggest the 'fix' is to either patch IE8 (if doable) or else update to the latest IE, it's clearly an IE8 problem.

I've tried that about a dozen times now. Can anyone think oh something else?

TheRealKraggy
20th Sep 2013, 07:02
It's definitely a 'file permissions' problem on your PC, the message is saying that the 'ffxiupdater.exe' program itself cannot be over-written by the patcher, or more unlikely that the program is currently running: check Task Manager.

If you have a failed installation their may be some debris left lying around, so I suggest you use Explorer (or whatever tool you use) to ensure all traces of previous installations have gone.

Alternatively, install the program somewhere else, outside the 'Program Files' tree, Windows specially protects that tree and it can be a PITA. You can choose where to install the game so try somewhere else. If you have a drive D; for example and plenty of space onit try it there. Or, try something like "C:\GAMES" and create that.

But first, do check for debris left behind if you want to stick to the defaults .. I never do, I despise Windows being 'helpful'.

I've purchased the digital download for FFXIV and I've also went into the local Best Buy and bought the hard copy. $60 into this so far, and I'm pretty sure I'm not alone with these problems. I'm coming across three separate ".dll" file types that are being displayed as corrupt or not recognized by Windows. Which is also confusing. The three errors are give me the same error message;

"C:\Windows\system32\D3DX9_43.dll(X3DAudio1_7.dll, XAPOFX1_5.dll) is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.
Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator
or the software vendor for support."

The very first thing I tried, was running as an administrator. That's underlined because it is more than likely the first suggestion to be made. I've searched through the countless folders and files throughout my hard drive and found the .exe for the most recent DirectX11 as well as the version for DirectX9. They've both been installed more than a few times. I have also tried to bypass the Windows Event Log, ran the computer in Safe Mode with Networking, removed and downloaded the digital copy downloader again, restarted my computer multiple times, manually inserted replacement ".dll" files into the System32 folder, and I've even coped/pasted the exact ".dll" files from the FFXIV CD into the System32 folder, and mostly I've spent the last 2 days searching through google.

This is the process in which I've come across these problems again and again.. Download the installer, run the installer, select North America(English), and then I click Accept. Immediately after that, these errors pop up, one after another. The installer tells me I need a new version of DirectX, and asks if I want to install DirectX now. That's the part where I've installed the "new" DirectX files several times.

I can't remember now the sequence of steps the thing goes through but my GUESS is that it's on the step that requires you to accept the EULA. The installer/launcher has IE embedded in it, and there have been problems with older version of IE at various times in the launcher.

May be worth ensuring your IE is at the highest level you can have on whatever Windows you have. Apart from that, I assume you've tried 'Run As Admin' as that's probably one of the tips you came across, if not give it a try.

Hi, any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

I just purchased the digital download for FFXIV ARR. I have downloaded the ffxivsetup application, but every time I try to run it I get a Windows error message "This app can't run on your PC". I'm running Windows 7.

I have followed these instructions that SE give on their site for W7 users:

--
Windows® 7 Users
If an error requesting that you install Windows Vista Service Pack 2 occurs during installation, please follow these steps:
1. Right-click ffxivsetup.exe and open "Properties."
2. In the "Compatibility" tab, click "Change settings for all users."
3. Uncheck the box for "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and click "Apply."
--

I have tried this, but it still does not work. (And the error I am getting doesn't mention Vista Service Pack 2 anyway.)

Is anyone able to help me out? How can run the application so I can install the game I paid for?

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Then the code and the image disappear but my product is still unregistered and when I check my account it keep says that I have 0 Registered Games...
I tried both with IE and Google Chrome, but nothing happened... I'm really mad, I dunno what to do now...

I played the game when it launched (bought it after they started selling it again) but stopped. I am trying to re-download the game. After some struggle just to find the download page I began installing it. Once it asks me for my registration code it says it's already in use and doesn't let me continue. Please if anyone could direct me to fix this issue I would be very grateful!

Okay, this is getting very annoying. I bought and installed the game just this past Friday, and I got to play it once. Now every time I open the launcher to try and play again, I get a black box, like the launcher is starting, then I get a box popping up that says : System Error-2246697211 http.//frontier.ffxiv.com/arr_win/index.html/?rc_lang=en-us&time=2014-05-20-15

I've tried running in comparability mode, resetting the launcher update to the previous version, uninstalling and re-installing the game, and I've even tried to open a ticket in the tech support forums on the official website, but my browser keeps saying that the web page is unavailable. I would really like to have a coherent answer on this matter as soon as possible, like most people I actually like to be able to use the product that I purchased, and paying a subscription fee for.

I bought FFXIV A Realm Reborn Online new wrapped for my PS3, followed the instructions to Redeem Codes, put the disc in and started it and it installed 7GB I think, then I had to register for a Square Enix account and create a login and password etc., then it wanted to download a 10GB update so I left my PS3 on at midnight and it said the download speed was 0.39MB/s and it was going to take 579 minutes (10 hours), then there was a download error so I quit it, restarted it and it continued (thankfully) but then I decided that the process is way too much hassle to bother with.

So, I just wanted to let you (the developers) know that getting the game up and running is too tedious to bother with. I've seen on the Internet that this game is highly rated as an online experience but I'm not going to get to find out -- I might not even like it!

I expect too that my product is now unsellable since I've registered the codes?

I'm not downloading 10GB to update a game.

You should allow people to install most of it from disc, then allow them to jump in and play anonymously to try it, then they can decide if they want to register the product and create a Square Enix account.

You've put all the tedious stuff at the front and buried the game at the back.

BTW I paid GBP£4.60 for this through eBay delivered (was it a full price product at one point?) so it could be worse.

If I could install the majority of this game from disc I would try it since I've already endured the registration process so any ideas are welcome.

Can somebody let me know that if I sell it on through eBay that the new owner can use it? Otherwise it's likely going to be a bin job.

Regards.
