1. have a white flag option...when you know you can't win this finishes the game up so you don't have to kill the lobby to quit. an option to raise the white flag and quit early.
2. don't allow hosts the ability to boot persons on the other team in the game only in the lobby.
3. create a lobby whereby you can have a 2-4 team set up to play against other teams... a clan system.. this is basic MP knowledge of what gamers like..they choose the map/number of players and then the server matches them up against other teams... like the old halo 2 game :) easy to copy
4. Allow the gamer to place the carriers/battleships etc. on the map at their location prior to the start of a battle a few islands on them...greatly increases game play value for gamers.
5. Allow commands to be given to all ships under your command that are linked together. Ex. you have a battleship and 2 destroyers linked up ... give a command once to all ships... attach X ship instead of clicking through each ship.
