I know lots of people like talking about the moves and the gameplay, as do i. But her facial features and her whole look has changed again!! I know she is supossed to look younger but her face looks completley different!! I like how they have made her hair look similar to what it did in the first though ;)
Do we like the new look (again!):mad2: or not??

No it is a kind of remake of the first ever TR.

I posted a poll way back when of a "Beauty Contest" where I put up all 7 Laras next to each other. The results showed that change is good, lol. The old Lara's all looked the same... unreal and "unproportionate". But with new technology came a new look, (thank God!) Here's the link to the poll....

has anybody noticed for the anniversary game that Lara Croft's face looks totally different!!!! She loks like a whole different person her body and face are different. The face I grew up with and learned to love has disappered but is but a mere memory for me in legend. I wish that I can receive a logical explanation for this atrocity!!

It is the same explanation they use in the Bond movies. ;)

Take a look at Angelina Jolie in all her movie outings, and see just how different she looks from one time to another.;)

Of course you could take it further, and say something about the changed history, but why bother. It's just a game afterall, and Lara is just a character in that game.:)

The thing i'm most outraged about, while we're on the subject, is that damned wrongly rotated texture in the Tibet level from TRL. It's scandelous.... it really is!!!. :mad2:

Jennifer,

From what I've heard it is because they wanted Lara to have a younger look than what she had in Legend. I suppose this makes sense if they want Anniversary to mirror the original.

Hope this helps!

This is silly. Of course the Lara Croft from the first 1996 Tomb Raider looks different from the one in Legend - the technology has moved on and while the new Lara Croft is more "realistic", the best way to describe how she was originally, and this using the kindest and most generous description, is "abstract" (or blocky and square if you want the truth of it).

Hardcore puritism can be a frightening thing in its lack of ability to make concessions...

Hi Jennifer!

Which face do you mean? They changed it again:

Now she looks like Legend Lara.

she is meant to be younger in this one after all...I really dont see an issue witht the face IMO

the first legend screenshots we had were very different form the final look of lara.....she had very red hair....and her face was totally different to what we ended up with which was a beautiful Lara.....she's bound to look different,it's 10 years previous......we don't want an angular lara do we?

this was the first we saw of lara

even the promo stuff was very different to her final look

Her new look is okay...but it won't be proper if they keep changing her look for every game;)

My personal feelings about the unhappiness expressed about Lara's face changing.....You try being an artistic team and making a character look exactly the same in the face of new technology and new game engines and new 3d programs, and see if you'd even want to. :)

The Character of Lara Croft is more important than the visualization, are we not relating to the character when we play Tomb Raider?

very well said hun.......i think we put too much on the poor girls appearance......the game is gonna be amazing when it comes out....i for one don't have a problem with her looking different...like i said before there is 10 years difference.....she first entered the tomb when she was 29.....legend she was 39...in reality she would look different......CD do an AMAZING job...legend lara took my breath away....the trouble is that everyone i think was so WOWED with legend, now CD have to come up with a different face for Anniversary and we can't judge it on that.......so long as she doesn't have stubble and a square head who cares, so long as it plays fine it's the same adventure i can't wait

She has not changed that drastically from Legend, considering she is meant to be younger than Legend Lara the Anniversary model looks fine to me

looking at those pictures side by side, its quite obvious lara has hardly changed at all, she has different hair and a bit less make up, so what?!?

the legend lara looks more older and wiser, because she actually is, and the anniversary lara looks yound and naive, which this being her first ever adventure, she should do.

Also i think people are forgetting here, CD didnt make the original TR game, so recreating a character from the ground up cannot be easy and i think they've done a superb job. Well Done CD.

And i also think some people are annoyed that the renders look totally different from legend renders, and so they should. technology is moving forward, and CD are taking advantage of its wonderful uses... afterall would you prefer to be playing with this again???

It would be funny if they included a secret skin that made you look like the orginal TR1 Lara, her guns would have more curves than her :nut:

actually, I don't have a problem with that. I'm serious. ;)
anyway, I don't have any complaints about the "new" Lara (besides the weird blue sweater, but we can live with that :p). she's beautiful, and there isn't a big diffrence between the "new" Lara and TRL Lara.

officerpuppy - that's an interesting idea :nut:

I got it off a website, but it enhanced what i was trying to say, the anniversary lara is absolutly perfect, the original will always be the best but i just wanted a crummy picture to backup my argument!

Sorry if i caused any upset by using that picture! :)

Now everyone remember that answer the next time someone picks on a magazine article for praising Anniversary by showing up that time has not been kind to the original. Although the original was nowhere near that bad

It looks to me like they've changed her look to make her look more like the original Lara, and thats fine by me. I didn't really like the Legend look. Whoever that person is she's not Lara Croft!

Of course I'm talking about the promo pictures, the early game graphics were hardly well defined.

I like the new look! I think it's very well done! The box cover is the best though! Love it!
It's also amazing how the graphics have changed from PS1 to PS2!
