I've just installed the PC demo and I get a message when I try to start it up saying it can't find XINPUT1_3.dll. A search of my computer reveals that no file of that name exists anywhere. I tried rerunning the DirectX setup and that didn't work.

Any idea what I can do to fix it? Preferably without having to download the entire game again.

The installer said I met the minimum requirements for BS:M so I don't think it's a problem with specs, but here they are anyway:

Athlon Xp 2700+
1GB of DDR333
Radeon 9800pro 128mb
Windows 2000 SP4.

A few years old now but it still just about runs every game I throw at it (apart from company of heroes, but that was because of it's stupid windows XP exclusive deal rather than hardware problems).

The one that came with the demo. (and of course twenty other different ones since the last update that came with various other games and demos).

@spectre01: Does it start up for you or not?

Has somebody fixed the problem?
I have the same problem, too. It seems to be that the demo doesn't work with W2K.

Win 200 is not supported. It is missing some crucial .dll files.

Yes, I've just found out that XInput is a system for controlling xbox and similar controllers that works on windows XP only. I've no idea why such a thing is needed for the game to run since I've never owned a gamepad.

Well, I guess eidos can go on my blacklist for providing misleading information in claiming that the demo would work on windows 2000 in it's installer and not providing accurate information about which O/Ss will run the game to Amazon (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Eidos-Battlestations-Midway-PC/dp/B00076XCCU/sr=8-2/qid=1170437338/ref=pd_ka_2/203-0903283-7481504?ie=UTF8&s=videogames).

Amazon is the one posting incorrect information, not Eidos. You will also notice it says it runs in Windows 98. :nut: More than likely what has happened is that the site did not update thier information.
