Since the PC demo comes in the morning and in an attempt to make it easier for the developers with any issues that may arrise, after all this is a PC we are talking about, I thought a seperate thread for PC issues would help the bug reports from becoming a jumbled mess.
Be sure that when reporting any issues that you be as complete as possible.

@chip5541

Hmmm....looks like the error was caused by your processor? Could it be a problem with Athlon 64 chips?

Unfortunately no solution, but maybe someone else can let us know if they have got it to run on a 64bit processor

I don't have a clue what your talking about, there's no error. His processor is 64 bit but his OS is WinXP Home 32bit? I got to say, your name fits haha

I have noticed just from reading these posts that a percentage of people with problems have the Nvid 6800. Could be nothing. Probably just need to install arcade and login with an active account.

to the other guy;
Although your bogus email fix may work with the demo, I highly doubt you will want to use that method in the retail. Might as well take the plunge now, because your going to buy it later...It's a Kick!

Well I dont even get past double clicking the Midway Icon. All that happens is I get a popup saying the program has failed and the option to send the info. :mad2: I downloaded my demo fromfileplanet, anywhere else incase its a dodgy version? when I installed it it said my system was up to running the game.

I'm running...

AMD Athlon 2.4
1 Gig RAM
Nvidia 5700FX
XP PRO

All up to date.

Real shame as I was looking forward to playing this!

this is to kind of help u ppl out there with gamespy issues, u DO NOT need gamespy arcade installed on ur pc to play, you DO however need to register for a free account on the INTERNET at gamespy.com, not through the game itself. when u create ur gamespy account, u can use it at IGN AND 3dgamers.com. u get to choose a nickname, ur account name, and ur password. if u can remember all these things and input them correctly into the login screen in the game, then it should work perfectly.

another way to test if it is the game that isnt allowing u to login, if u hav another gamespy game that requires u to login to ur account like starwars battlefront II then try it there first, if it works, then its the demo that is screwed.

i am running Windows Vista Ultimate RTM and just reinstalled it 4 days ago. i hav nothing on it except, this demo, battlefield 2142, and LOTR: Return of the King. i dont hav gamespy arcade installed either and i can login just fine. i hav encountered absolutely no problems with any of these programs except the demo for this game with crashes a fair bit of times but does work flawlessly once you r inside a engaged battle. i still dont understand y ppl join, then leave as soon as the game starts.

i hav a bug report regarding the turrets while aiming, so im gonna get my fraps fired up and get a short video or a few pics on it. i hope this info helps

BTW here is my pc specs:

Haha, here's my PC specs even though my pc failed the optimal testing, my pc fit the recommended test quite well and I absolutely destroyed the gaem with my great Processor and Operating System. LOL *cough* DirectX 10 *cough* :

CPU
Recommended: Pentium 4/Athlon XP or better
You Have: 2 processors running - Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00GHz

CPU Speed
Recommended: 2.5 GHz
You Have: 3.01 GHz Performance Rated at 4.52 GHz

Recommended: 1 GB
You Have: 1022.9 MB

Operating System
Recommended: Windows XP
You Have: Microsoft Windows Vista Professional/Ultimate (Build 5840)

Video Card
Recommended: 128MB RAM DirectX 9.0c compatible video card supporting Pixel & Vertex shader 2.0 (nVidia 6800 Series or Radeon X800 or better)

You Have: Radeon X1600 Series PRO ()

Video Card Features - Minimum attributes of your Video Card

Video RAM: Required - 128 MB , You have - 260.0 MB

Video Card 3D Acceleration: Required - Yes , You have - Yes

Video HW Transform & Lighting: Required - Yes , You have - Yes

Vertex Shader Ver.: Required - 2.0 , You have - 3.0

Pixel Shader Ver.: Required - 2.0 , You have - 3.0

The only things keeping me from passing optimal performance test is my RAM and Video Card. I need 1 more gigabyte of ram and I was plannining on buying an ATI Radeon X1950 PRO. That will sure as hell fix my graphics problem. I'm sure the game will run well on my pc but I'm not sure if the details like water will be flat and undetailed with my X1600 PRO like in Pacific Storm.

well i tested out the demo on my gaming rig and boy does it look amazing, the water is very detailed and nice and shiny from the sun. i guess its pacific storm that has the crappy graphics. The only thing holding me back from optimal performance is that i need another gig of ram and at least a radeon x1800 but im going for the X1950 PRO, screw the ram my pc runs super fast with windows vista

Good post, agree with most. To answer your question above, could be a number of reasons. Their in a game from Ireland and they live in Hawaii and their ping is 800.

When I first entered the game I saw this air field and nothing was moving. I too thought the game might have froze. but because I'm patient, I sat there awhile and to my surprise saw a plane fly by in the distance. Because most people expect to jump into some kind of moving environment they assume the game don't work and probably leave.

Eidos dropped the ball in the area of a short Pc manual for the demo. They should have already posted that on this board after reading the 7000 posts complaining about the lack of. ****

So I fought for a while and here is what works for me at least, maybe it will help:

Step 1: Download demo, install

Step 2: Download Gamespy Arcade 2.0, set up an account

Step 3: Run demo, use your gamespy profile.

***No need for any port forwarding to play the game, at least on an RT314 bridged to a WRT54G that does the wireless stuff***

System that works: XPS 1210 with C2D 2.0, 1 gig, GeForce 7400 Turbocache, months old video drivers, XP MCE, 3945 wireless, Comodo Firewall

System that doesn't work: Custom P4 3.0, 2.5 gigs, 9800 All In Wonder, SoundBlaster Audigy, Intel 975, XP Home, brand new video drivers, ZoneAlarm
(By doesn't work I mean cannot connect to severs, both run the actual game with occasional CTD.)

Any thoughts?

Here to report that the game is buggy :nut:

If I put out a network patch or a software update on Friday without sticking around or at least monitoring then took the weekend off I would be fired.

Seriously I have seen this time and time again, why do you release a demo at the end of the week and then let everyone go home for the weekend?

Your company is based completely on selling games so why would you kill your launch? One satisfied customer may tell two people, one unsatisfied customer WILL tell TEN to TWENTY people...

Just a thought here but Monday morning you guys should have a meeting and ask the guy who gave the goahead to launch this on a Friday if he had a great weekend in vegas cause he really wasnt thinking about his job this week.

I have to say it is/will be a great game, what I did get to play it was fun and I liked the graphics and action.

Good Luck!

happend once-

the yorktown if you launch all 3 flights of sbd's, and you launch the middle one first with no bombs (did it on accident) the carrier will only launch (all 3 flights) sbds with no bombs, and the 2nd flight (middle) will only circle the carrier, and wont attack.

anyone else had this problem?

Ok, first off, i love the demo from the two times I was actually able to play it

secondly, LAGG:mad2:

For some reason, I can login and get into a game JUST FINE, and it shows the ping as being at an acceptable level, but when I actually get into the game, I am lagged unto the 9th hell of LAG.

I cant do anything, my ships move sideways, my planes float in the water.
One time I asked if anyone else was getting this lag, it took literally a minute for the message to appear.Basically it's impossible to play.

I noticed that if I try to host a game it says i need to open a new port. I've heard from places that opening that specific internet port will open your comp up to crazy viruses.

I dont know if thats related of just a coincidence, but if anyone can help me or has a similar problem I'd like to hear.

Ooh yeah.. specs, even though i dont think it has to do w/ my problem.

OS: MS Windows XP Home ed.
Intel Pentium 4
512mb RAM w/ DX 9.0c

GC: NVIDIA GForce 5700LE w/256mb (Not the best, but im fairly sure this isnt a graphical problem)

I have a wirless connection to another computer supplying internet connection, but I know it isn't my internet speed, because my internet and all other internet games run fine.

Well I just tried the PC demo today.
I have to mention it's a bit of an arrogance from the developer to release a multiplayer demo only - especially until a decent server base is established.
Since I was not able to connect or get into any internet server but have the "luxury" of having 2 PC at home I finally managed to try it on a LAN game - jumping from seat-to-seat to fight... ...well actually against myself.

Bug:
1. Installer - it was shocking to see that my Core 2 Duo 6600 has been classified as a "minimum" requirement for the game. It is the 4th fastest processor on the market in the Intel line as of now. I guess the installer goes by the Ghz data and "forgets" about the fact that frequency is not everything. It would be much better of reading out the processor type and go by a ranking.

2. I noticed also that the system had great trouble recognizing the level of graphic detail for my ASUS X1900XT card. It came up as base setting with 1024x768 no AA at all. This is especially surprising as on the other computer the ATI X850XT has been recognized correctly and the system was capable of picking the correct resolution for my monitor (1280x1024) plus recommended 6x AA. Funny that the newer and better card was able to mislead the software

3. Gameplay - I had no freeze or LAG issues (well on a LAN it shouldn't be anyways. My biggest trouble was the AI of my own ships. They can not pass by each other when in close proximity and have crossing paths. This is especially annoying in heated situations where you loose time because two of your units gets stuck hitting each other while they should be on their way in no time. Some kind of a priority system should be introduced to keep one unit stopped while the other moves.

4. Same as above - AI of own units: my battlecruiser just run into the enemy's shipyard at full speed. Funnily nothing happened to it (no damage), neither it was capable of recognizing to come to a full stop.

5. The default keyboard/control settings are incorrect. The SHIFT key has double purpose therefore without changing it the player is not capable of going into the menu for configuring the planes / ships.

Well I have been waiting for this title for a long time and regardless of these minor bugs it was a great experience getting a feel of it. The battlescene with flying/fighting planes/ships is so awesome I can't even describe it.
I can just hope the missions and campaigns are going to live up to the visuals. Could be awesome watching this on a HDTV with the Xbox360 version... :-))))))))))))

Good job, GO GO GO GO!

CHIP, try to drill down to where the application is.
Then go into the folder and look for the launcher exe suchs as battlestation.exe or whatever. Right click on that and then click on properties. Then click on the compatibility tab. Then click RUN THIS FOR and use the drop down and select NT.

Try this asap and report back. If this doesnt work then reset it so you don't forget you had it set that way.

Also, have you tried a good old fashioned reboot too? :)

updated your mobo, video card, and any cpu extension drivers?

Some further bug reports that I experienced. It was reported by others as well - the sudden crash of the .EXE.
It happens at various places such as right after starting the game on internet, sometimes when connecting/joining a server, sometimes even on the menu.
The stability of the SW is not great.
HOWEVER.
When it happened to me the 5th time I decided on to try some radical action:
1. I re-installed the latest version of my videocard driver package (ATI Radeon)
2. Although I rarely do this but picked up an update patch for my sound card as well. (I'll tell you why later) and installed that too
3. Re-installed the Battlestations: Midway demo (repair option).

After this I was able to enjoy the game reasonably - number of crashes dropped significantly.

It is also noticeable that (for me!) the system crashes much LESS if I host the game (create server) versus if I join other servers! What it tells me is that the client side network communication is causing most of the crashes!

If a developer looks into this:
1. I had NO crashes playing on LAN (two PC connected at my home)
2. I had a few crashes (at menu) when I hosted/created server
3. I had 4-5 out of 10 crashes when trying to connect to other servers

----note about the sound----
What made me look into the sound card issue is a symptom I noticed after installing B:M demo: before that my PC was able to shut down using the "Windows shut down" option clean. AFTER installing this demo 3-4 resident application started to cause trouble during shutdown - you know the famous "application not responding - end task" thing. I took a note on the filenames and it turned out to be the sound driver, volume control application and things like that (I have a Creative X-Fi ExtremeMusic card).
The demo might have "messed" with related DLLs I guess... after upgrade/re-install of the sound card driver package this went away.

==>this makes me recommend that the "common sense" antidote for crashes still should include being on the top of housekeeping and having installed the most up to date patches for all drivers/critical applications you use/run.

Anyone else find the ambient bubble sound for the submarine too loud in the single player game? I find it hard to hear pings and other game effects because of it.

Only 1! We hosted a few games with all US players and had No Problems. Then tested some open game's and had all kinds of trouble. So play with other's in your Geographical area and Enjoy a Super Game!

The only real problem was that those who couldn't host in the Demo still can't, I'm one of them. But I can live with that. :)

Looks like your Sound Card Driver it causing trouble. Try uninstalling your SC driver and updating it. What kind of card? Onboard?

This might not be the cause of your problem, but it's a good place to start.

Actually you nailed it. Using an old Audigy SE, so there really aren't any newer drivers for it. I just switched off EAX and turned on software sound, seems to have fixed it.

I am having a problem with really low fps when someone enters the lobby of a game I'm hosting or I join another game. The game runs great in single player and even when I first enter the lobby but as soon as someone joins, bam! I have been noticing that most of the people reporting fps problems have AMD processors as do I. I installed the game on another computer in the same house with an Intel processor and it seems to run just fine so I don't think it's a latency problem. Just wondering if anyone else has run into this.

Here is my dxdiag if it helps...

 Anyone have an issue with purchasing a game disc that didn't work? I have purchased two now from the same Wal-mart and either work. They reffuse to spin up and open the install program. It's not my optical drive as it's only this disk and I have tried it in 2 other systems and it's the same deal. This is the second game title I have had this happen with in the last 6 months, the first being Company of Heros. I bought the collectors edition which didn't work, exchanged it for the standard version and it worked fine! I do notice on my BM disc that on the out side edge there appears to be a small 1/16" piece of foil that is a small triangle. Almost like it wasn't cut or pressed correctly. Also one spot on the disc out side edge as well where it looks torn or feathered a little. If I go into My Computer and try to right click on my DVD/RWR Drive it freezes up or gives me a My Computer: Not Responding error. I have tried every thing that I can think of! If I try and shut down and restart with the game disc in the drive the hard drive will not even load my OS and I get the boot from CD command promt at the bottom of the screen. As soon as I eject the disc my OS loads fine. Other thing I noticed is after aboout 3 minutes of the cd icon attached to my mouse currsor flashing and I hear the DVD drive quit spinning it up and if I go into My Computer 1 in 15 tries of right clicking on the drive will actully open and if I select explore or open theres no data to be found and it prompts me with the following "Do you want to write files to this disc." Very odd indeed. Tomorrow it goes back to Wal-mart I guess and after another 35 minutes of arguing with them :mad2: perhaps they will reffund me the money and I'll try buying it from some place else like Game Stop. Any ideas and or feed back is appreciated.

Thanks

All sorted. The game discs I had been getting at Wal-Mart where all deffective apparently. By the way I am on disc 3 from there, now I have to try for the complete reffund.... Oh Joy!! Bought a copy last night at BestBuy after I explained the situation to them and all I had gone through they where very accomidating. I asked the manager if they could have a Geek Squad member check to see if it would boot up to install wizzard while I was there in the store and if it didn't I wanted a reffund not an exchange. He was reluctant at first but, after I explained why he was very helpfull. Obviously it worked at the store and I was still nervouse after I got home with it (thinking I had some sort of electronic gremlin on my back) but as soon as I poped it in the drive it loaded right up! Excellent!!! Went through all the missions on rookie and now Im half way through on regular, about 10 hours of straight play. With only the most necissary breaks being taken. Kudos to Edios and also BestBuy for there customer satisfaction. Now I know why you get a free calander with the game when purchased from Wal-Mart. I suppose I could wright the $20.00 I spent in gas running around solving this as an entertainment expense for a tax deduction!

I can't wait for the patch and the first bit of new downloadable content..... and the expanssion pack! I hope thats not more than a year in the making. Would be nice to see something with an Atlantic campaign!:D

Game does not detect the "Mouse Button 3" on logitech Mice. I have the MX1000 wireless laser mouse and "Mouse Button 3" the while (or click on wheel) do not work at all.

Not sure if this is your problem.. but in most cases, if you had installed the mouseware cd that came with it (as all Logitech mice do) then it could be your problem. In 1999, I switched to Logitech when Delta Force 2 came out. I installed the cd like they recommend.. but it disabled my mousewheel up/down to scroll through my weapons. I uninstalled the mouseware and it was fine.

Just a thought anyway.

microsoft errors,

it seems it depends on what server I join. I wonder if it is different versions of windows. I can play on some, no errors, others, can never join without the error and crash.

Every time I try to host a game I can create a server and choose the MP map I want, but as soon as someone try to log into my server; my server quits/shuts down with the message need to open port 6500 for incoming traffic.
So I went to my control panel on my PC---> I opened windows firewall----> I opened exceptions----> I chose the "add a port" option ----> gave it the name BSM with port number 6500.... but still the same problem as soon as someone tries to log in my server shuts down with the message [I]open port 6500 for incoming traffic[/I
]So I still cant host a game:confused: Can someone please help me???

Bug: After creating a formation when I press ALT-S to change the formation my mouse cursor disappears never to be seen again. I can still control airplanes and ships and use keyboard commands. I can even aim the guns on the ships with the mouse still. But the mouse cursor is gone from the map.

This has happened to me over four times while playing online. A weird thing I've noticed is it happens when one of the ships in formation is trying to place itself over the leader in the formation (when I go to the formation screen, one of the ships' icons is in the middle of the formation screen, instead of the leader of the formation).

I can restart the game and get my mouse cursor back, but that's the only way to get it back that I know of.

What I end up doing now is not setting up my formations until later in the game..just to be certain I'll get some game time in before the mouse screws up. If you're interested in what kind of computer I've got, u can see that info here:

http://www.xfire.com/profile/nasteee/

Only one other person I've talked to about this has said they've had it happen to them. So I'm not sure if it's a common problem.. a lot of people don't even know there IS a formation screen. Please fix this problem in the next patch!

Yes the weird cursor bug, happens also for me. The symptoms are exactly the same, the "yellow selected ship" is placed on top of the leader and if u attempt to move the yellow ship, the cursor disappears.

Hi

I got the game the 1.1.1 patch and the bonus content. However the Academy missions , the one about repairing. It starts out fine the ship goes to where it wants to and stops, then nothing happens. The game isn't frozen as the other units move about. I have waited about 15 mins. several times in case the other ships needed to do something but it is a no go.

On several multiplayer servers I have tried to join the game will allow me to pick a slot, ready up and then when the game launches I get an initial picture and then my computer goes into a restart. Any ideas what may be causing this? It doesn't happen on all servers so I figure it's a setting on the server. If I know what that setting is I can ask about it before the game starts and I wind up getting booted.
Thanks.

I have the newest steam version.
When I try to run the game, steam loads it up, and then nothing happens. When I load up the task manager, it is not listed under applications, but Battlestationsmidway.exe is listed under Processes, consuming 50% CPU power and 29,000k memory.

I have the latest video card drivers, every other game runs fine. You have basically released a patch which ensures that my game will NEVER work, even in singleplayer. It has been like this for months, but I assumed the problem would be addressed. But no, you can't do that.

Specs on this system:
P4 2.8ghz
Radeon x850xt 256mb GDDR3
1GB DDR RAM
Latest Windows XP SP2

Version: fresh out of the box

Problem Description: BS:M freezes on startup and I can't reinstall or remove it

Problem Type: freezing/crashing/non-responsive

Screenshot: ...

Battlestations: Midway log and dxdiag: uhh...how do i do that again?

Basically, I just got this game a week ago, played it once and enjoyed myself. The next time I tried to play, it froze whenever I actually got into the game. Now it just freezes instantaneously on startup. Additionally, I have attempted several times to remove or reinstall BS:M, but the install wizard gets an "Application Not Responding" error everytime I attempt to do so. My computer meets and exceeds the minimum system requirements. I am running Windows XP Media Center. I will provide the dxdiag if someone will remind me how to do so. Additionally, I also received a few error messages from xfire as well while trying to start BS:M, and I can provide those if needed.

Hi,

I've got version 1.0. If I want to update to version 1.1 (of 1.1.1) I first can't choice where I want to install the patch. It is just going to install in folder "\" If I click install, install shield gives me an error: "could not acces network location \.
So what is the problem and how can I make sure I am able to install the patch next time? Thanks, W0LF

Hi,
I hope this thread istn dead yet.I am new here and I ve got this game.
I have the same problem as mention above+second mission(with destroyer). After completing the objectives I need to meet the submarine, but after I arrive, nothing happends.Enemy destr. is dead, all bunkers...
Tried to avoid the fight, but even then, nothing happends.:(:(:(
