To coincide with the "Battle for Midway documentary" thread found here:
http://forums.eidosgames.com/showthread.php?t=64022

Here are some quite interesting and illuminating stories about the conflicts in Guadalcanal, which followed the Battle of Midway, commencing in the second half of 1942:

Part 2

There is script material here, a scrap of this could fill up an entire computer game in this fanstastical setting ;)
I'm telling ya, Guadacanal is an automatic add-on in any self-respecting dev's scrapbooks ;)

Great video, thanks. The History Channel here in the US has a series called "Dogfights", which recently had this battle in one of their episodes. Good stuff.

Did any of you catch the Dogfights episode "Death of a Japanese Navy"? They showed it late last night on THC

1944...the Pacific. It is one of the most amazing, lopsided naval battles in history: A mighty Japanese fleet let by the Yamato, the biggest battleship in the world - versus Taffy 3, a small U.S. task unit of tin can destroyers and baby flat-tops...ships too weak to fight and too slow to run. David battles Goliath in a fight for survival - with the lives of thousands of American soldiers in the balance.

This video had some great CGI,and it just only fuled my desire to play BSM (ehhh not THAT kind get your mind out of the gutter :nut: ) even more!!
