what kind of scale are we going to have here
from the looks on some of the videos it looked like combat was taking place at less that the length of the destroyers that where in it

what about long range shooting(over 10 miles)
zoom feature for it?
lag time for the shots to fall

There is lag time for shells and torpedoes; there is a zoom feature binoculars, the range of shells will have to be much less than ten miles because the map size is 18km by 18k (18km=11.84mi)

lag time for shells?
as in, pull the trigger and they slowly go to their destination? torpedoes are slow, but shells shouldnt be...

they don't slowly go there, but it does take time, otherwise you would rarely miss

at max range for the battle space is 10 miles is 52,800'
KGV's 14" guns is 2483 fps flight time 21.3 seconds rounded off max range is 40,600 yds so near 40 km range
only muzzle velocities I have are for Brit guns in Conways
but the hi end is an 6"/50 XXII at 2960 fps
low end is the 4"/33 XXIII at 1791 fps
16"/45 I is 2586 fps

this is the lag I speak of

k, because some games make the guns really ficticiously slow! i hate watching my shells fly to the target when the targets only 100 meters away

if your at 100 m why not pull up along side and board the bugger
at that range your torps should not have even armed yet

in fighting steel the first time when you straddle or hit your target the computer take you for a ride on the shell as it is going to the target(like the vids General Norman Swartzkoff showed in the opening of Desert storm about his counterparts HQ)but it leaves you about 3000 yds from the target so you can see the hit or straddle instead of static as the tv bomb hits

it pretty cool watching the shell go like Slim Picken riding the nuke in Dr Strangelove except your seeing it from his eyes as it is heading to your target

I am thinking they go the speed of of the artillery shells in chromehounds although that discription isnt helpful if you haven played that game.

see my post above
for KGV 20 seconds should be the longest hang time possible
considering that main guns like this need 30 to 45 seconds to reload watching your shot should be 1/2 the fun

300 Meters is about 900 feet or 3 football fields. your torps are definitely armed by then.

i think that ships should fire their shells and then you should have a couple of tantalising seconds wait as you watch them curve towards their target and then BOOM! i am onlytalking about long range shots obviously short range here may be a half second or so wait.
