View Full Version : The Gamecube version

So, has anyone got it yet? Any extras so far? How responsive is the controller - and is anything different, bearing in mind the GCN controller has less buttons than the PS2/XBox ones?

I've ordered mine today, it should arrive in 20 days. Hopefully I'll get it before Christmas postal madness begins! :)

Someone over at GameFaqs forums said there are new outfits, new quotes such as "I must install these in my gym" in Ghana and you can pick up papers from dead scientists in Kazakhstan...

Keeping in mind both the quote and the papers were in the other versions, would it be right to assume there are no extra outfits in the GCN version? :(

This gives me the feeling the japanese version of LEGEND on PS2 and PSP might be updated..and the 360 version as well..must've added the PSP extras and more..they wouldn't say that this game is updated in Japan because it's their first time releasing it there (this Dec. 9th I think) so I'm gonna buy one myself..

*bump* 'cause I'm really curious about the add-ons/changes:D And one the Gamespot forums, one mentioned this:

i haven't noticed anything new so far. i've beaten story mode and all the time trials and there's nothing new. i kinda think that this port might be worse in graphical terms.

The object models dont look as detailed and there's some costume glitches. some dont have physics, some make it so lara's mouth doesnt move the the cinematics, and when you wear the goth costumes Lara's eyes dont move. But during the cinematics, I noticed the lara's breasts jiggle, to a realistic degree, not all bouncy like in aod.

but thats all i've noticed (http://www.gamespot.com/gamecube/action/tombraidervii/show_msgs.php?topic_id=m-1-31425935&pid=932471&page=1).
Is that all true:confused:

Yep, I saw that at GameFAQs. Well, I've ordered mine, the store said it'd take around 20 days, so by the beginning of December I'll have it. Other posts at GameFAQs/Gamespot also were a bit misleading, though, so I wouldn't take that as a definitive answer. :)

I guess we'll wait then:D

Someone else updated to us from tombraiderforums.com (http://www.tombraiderforums.com/showthread.php?p=1364167&posted=1#post1364167) that Game Radar has brought a review for this version:D

You might as well put this link on the first post TREEBLE:D:

And the graphics were more choppy and "rough" - I wanna see some gameplay footage:D I'm always interested in graphic comparison. But I'm sure Gamecubers wouldn't mind since Legend arrived in Gamecube:DAnd heck I'm sure the graphics are fine enough.

And for anyone who played - are there BLACK BARS during cinematics:confused: 'cause I just realized it didn't had any in the screenshots that I've seen.

I've just today finally gotten my copy of Legend on the GameCube.

For starters, the manual is different, I think the "field notes" booklet is the manual on the other versions, but here it's simply the boxart in a slightly different position.

The game does NOT suffer with bad graphics. I didn't experience anything mentioned above. It runs much smoother than the PS2 version (I don't have a bionic eye, but I'm pretty sure it's over the PS2's 30 FPS, maybe 45 or even 60, I don't know) and the water looks much better here. At least it did wonders to Bolivia. The game also seems to render the backgrounds better, I'd have to borrow my neighbor's PS2 to check that out, but I'm not sure I kept seeing all those mountains in the horizon. If I did, well, they're far more noticeable here and give the game a much more expansive feeling.

Peru doesn't have any filters, so while the first part of the level looks much better (on PS2 it's WAY too blurry), you don't get anything on the flashback. And what I found more strange was that the aerial assaults here don't trigger the motion blur, everything goes slo-mo, but there's no blur at all.

I'm just reaching Tokyo right now, later one I'll post more. I'm just having trouble getting used to the controls - they've changed the roll and grapple buttons, so I've found myself crouching a few times when in reality I wanted to grapple. LOL

And this being a bit biased, but the GCN icons look much better on the screen. That flashing triangle when Lara almost misses a jump has been replaced by a far more discreet Y. Even more discreet than the Xbox versions!

I'll post pictures of the game/box later on, just waiting for the batteries to recharge.

Here they are. For some reason, the flash made the CD look like it had depth lol, so I posted the non-flash sucky version too. The backside is pretty much the same as the other versions, except for the "Nixxes" logo and the bottom pic is from England - the Sea Serpent. The last picutre is just to show what a great and MOST WELCOME addition to any Cube collection this game is! :D

And Eidos - PLEASE get Nixxes to port Anniversary for the GameCube/Wii. PLEASE. :)

Excited to hear more:D:thumbsup:
But about how objects were more blurry than before -I remembered in the PC verison there's an option called "Fullscreen effects" - when I turn it on, it makes things far in the horizon blurry (like the mountains you mentioned in Bolivia) but when I turn it off, that's when it goes sharp so I'm a bit lost here as to which is better 'cause they both look great..I turn on and off:D
And yes, I think they should port for Gamecube and Wii - even if it takes 2-disc for Gamecube:D
And thanks for the report:D
*say where did you originally played Legend? The Xbox was it?

9th Dec 2006, 12:09
On the PS2. :) I think the blur looked great TBH, but I much prefer the game without it. Don't think there was any option like that on PS2, though.

Oh and by the way, there never is motion blur during the aerial assault. I thought it was something "Peru only", but I got to Kazakhstan and it's never there.

Speaking of Kazakhstan, the bike rides are the best place to notice the game runs at a faster FPS rate.

Cool:D And the PSP version doesn't have the motion blur either when she does the aerial assault:D

And yeah I'm surprised that this game on PS2 put all the graphics effects on (if I'm wrong that is). AOD had toned down graphics compared to the PC- it shocked me in how much the PC can do with its graphics in AOD:eek:But I'm glad that they turned it all on - even if it lags - not so bad. But smooth framerate I'd love to see on my screen:D
*And word on the street has it that the japanese version will have an exclusive Kimino outfit:D....can't wait for it to arrive:D...if I ever order it-_-

Really? Fantastic! When you get it, make sure you post pics! I'm still waiting for those of the PSP outfits... ;)

9th Dec 2006, 22:43
Thanks for the pics:D

And yeah about that rumour...VERY unsure I'd say...but I have a feeling they'd add the PSP exclusives on the consoles too. I mean, sure they d idn't mention it 'cause it's their first time releasing there anyway:D But yeah anyone can hope:D

I got my version back in late November. I've played it. It was great. I see no difference between the versions. What bonus or exclusive features you are referring to? The only bonus I had come across is in the PSP version. It had a time trial challenge mode and online gaming option, which IMO should of been integrated into the 360 version.

27th Jan 2007, 22:40
Which rumour? Sorry it's been a while I haven't been on this topic and even reading the posts here still confuses me. But I can sauyy that I thought this version would be more updated with more costumes. I thought like they'd add the costumes from the PSP-extras but it looks like they're still holding down that name for the official PSP-extras for the costumes.
