View Full Version : So, when are the speed runs coming?

1st Jul 2006, 21:34

I've just replayed Legend from start to end saving only once at the very end of the game. I was playing on Medium difficulty and these are my times:

Bolivia - 11:14
Peru - 16:47
Japan - 12:02
Ghana - 16:14
Kazakhstan - 21:53
England - 21:10
Nepal - 08:45
Bolivia Redux - 03:00
Total - 01:51:05

Mind you, I hadn't played Legend in 2 or 3 weeks. I also died a lot and didn't restart not even once, so I'm sure a lot can be cut off this time. I'm certainly looking forward to watch speed runs of Legend, it's a fun game to watch due to the stunts.

It was a low-percent run (didn't get any rewards), yet I got 79%. :D

I'll post mien up later and those speed runs are amazing:eek: I'm at leat 10 minutes behind you in the hard levels where you have to worry about time consumption.

heh, do the Ghana shortcut/cheat thing and cut even more time off.

I am stuck on Bolivia Redux (3 mins on Easy level when playing)
England (23 mins and 45 seconds when playing) and Kazakstan (25 mins and 32 seconds when playing) Help any shortcuts????

I never got the Ghana shortcut to work, and god knows I've tried. :lol: I did, however, manage to take down Rutland in less than 5 seconds, which is good as that fight can take a while if he recovers health. A number of fights can also be skipped (which I haven't) so I'm confident a speedrun throughout the whole game can be done in around 01:30:00.

I had a look at SpeedDemosArchive.com forums and didn't see anyone talking about a Legend speedrun. I wonder if nobody's interested? :scratch:

I've seen mentions of a speedrun at SpeedDemons :) Can't be bothered to find any of the posts tho', Lol!

Anyway... I know my Nepal time is 6 minutes 33 seconds and my Ghana (without shortcut) is 10 minutes 59 seconds and England is 16 minutes 10 seconds. The others I can't remember, LoL!

Scott =]!

Cheats are a big nono on speedruns, that's why I started a whole new game - no cheats were unlocked thus it was not an option. ;) That way, however, doesn't enable you to play on Time Trials since those are only for replaying missinos. :)

Just for the record, I went for the 100% - final time was 07:58:48. Three runs per level, one in normal mode (no rewards), one for the rewards, and the time trial.

I've played it from scratch again, managed to improve a few times but managed to perform worse on others:

Bolivia - 11:14 -> 09:57
Peru - 16:47 -> 16:00
Japan - 12:02 -> 10:40 (died once, I'm affirmative it can be done under 10)
Ghana - 16:14 -> 13:40 (died once, no shortcut)
Kazakhstan - 21:53 -> 23:16 (died twice on the bike course :rolleyes: )
England - 21:10 -> 19:03 (died once and still managed to cut off 2 minutes)
Nepal - 08:45 -> 08:09 (died once)
Bolivia Redux - 03:00 -> 02:24
Total - 01:51:05 -> 01:43:49

You can see I've died a lot, and I went through most of the fights on Ghana and Tokyo, even Kazakh. I'm sure this time can be cut off to 1h30. I'll keep playing it over the week, if I manage that time I'll definitely record my first speed run ever (and possibly the last :lol: )

Just had a look at SDA... gosh. Someone had 1h10min on Hard, a single segment run like mine as far as I could gather, but on Hard! :eek:

How did you do Bolivia Redux in that time I have got 3:00 minutes to beat and I can't do it :mad2: :mad2:

4th Jul 2006, 14:58
You shouldn't be the one smacking your head on the wall. On the PSP version...well basically, this::mad2: :mad2: :mad2: :mad2: :mad2: :mad2:
It's terrible with how you control the camera:mad:I made my Time Trial until the last lucky second - that's how hard it was:mad: .

Redux is the easiest of them all, but it relies extremely on luck. Tips are to keep swinging that sword non stop, cycling through the baddies and avoid as many hits from Amanda as possible, as they take you down, but you can even miss hitting her once or twice while she's on the ground and still manage to finish the Time Trial. :)

The PSP TIme Trial for Bolivia Redux is shorter I think. On console I remember it being around 7 minutes for the level, on PSP it was around 4:15.

That's unless my memory is going kablooah in which case just ignore the crazy man then :D

4th Jul 2006, 22:20
At least I made it:D but the PSP version - if it was to be shorter...it wouldn't make much sense:scratch:

It isn't. You have the same time, but if you watch the cutscenes they add up to the time (though those minutes are not considered for the time trials)
