Here's a quick comparison of the 360 and PC Next Gen. The darkness of the PC is from the Inverse Shadows glitch.

Inverse Shadows have been mentioned before, but a side-by-side comparison really shows how bad the PC version needs patch to fix it along with the many other glitches that plague the PC Next Gen.

I'm amazed that the game was released into retail like this.

It's all really pretty bad. Probably going to be the last Eidos game I buy. 100% sure it's going to be the last one I buy before researching it after its released.

Bad show guys, bad show...

It doesn't look that dark here. If it's that dark for you that looks more like some driver issue or something.

Check your setting again...

Here's a shot with my shadows OFF. It brightens it up. Unfortunately, there's no dynamic shadowing effects now.

It doesn't like that on my PC, with shadows turned on:

You can see shadows are turned on by the shadow the cliff cast on the cliff wall on the left, and the shadow of a bird flying by on the back wall (a bit hard to see in a picture). But you can also see that Lara's shadow isn't perfect. It's like only her hands cast shadow or something. Her shadow is full sometimes, while sometimes it's gone, or like on the picture.

It obviously need a patch, but it's not as bad as your picture on everyone's PC.

Jurjen was right... it is a driver issue. I was running Ati catalyst 6.4. I went back to 6.3 and it looks just as you described. It's still not as nice as the 360, but it is an improvement.

You guys are aware that Nixxes just took the X360 and PS2 code the recompiled it to the PC and XBOX, right? Crystal Dynamics just developed the PS2 and X360 versions.

Eidos published it, Crystal Dynamics developed it, Nixxes Software ported it.... So who the heck is responsible the patches? :nut:

In that order.

Eidos has to request one from Crystal and tests it, Crystal request one from Nixxes and tests it, Nixxes develops.

Yeah, the PC version usually gets shafted somewhat when a game is developed for the PC and consoles. I guess PC games doesn't get you as rich as console games. Since PC gamers can always get a pirated version if the game is too pricy, it's not as expensive on the PC. But since console gamers pay more for the games, I guess the console version gets the most attention, which leaves the PC version as a ported, consolified mess that isn't optimised for PC hardware or PC controls.

There are more than enough examples of this.

Your so right mist. Before I clicked this thread, I was guessing the 360 graphics would own the PC graphics. Im guessing Eidos and CD wanted to advertise mainly for the 360 and get that 60$. So they spent most of the time working with Microsoft. Then they ported the game over to PC in a rush then published.
Thats why you got the broken nextgen for PC.
