What do you mean by a total mess? You need to describe the problem in more detail. Post you full system specs.

Did you download the latest driver (84.21)?

Assuming you have Windows XP here it is:

http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_84.21.html

Yes. I download it. I think the problem is that I have incorrect settings either within the game or in my invidia card. Can someone tell me which are the correct settings? And can someone tell me how can i uninstall the game completely with the savings and video settings cause when i install it again it remains with the same savings and video settings. Thanks

Go to "my documents/csf data" and delete that to complete the profiles. It's probably just a driver problem not your settings.

But I don't know what i'm gonna do. sometimes it seems that it's ok after loading the game several times

Usually that kind of graphical corruption is a symptom of a driver problem. It might help if we can have a look at your dxdiag system info.

To run dxdiag go to the Start button. Click on Run. Type dxdiag into the box and click OK. You may be asked if you want dxdiag to check for WHQL drivers etc - select Yes. Dxdiag will startup and check your system. When its finished click on the Save All Information button at the bottom of the main utility page. Save the text file (default file name is dxdiag) to a place on your hard drive where you will find it again eg. My Documents.

Double click on the dxdiag file you saved to open it and copy and paste all of the text into a reply in this thread.

Another thing that might help you solve my problem is that even the demo used to gave me the same problem but i thought that it was because it was a demo and it was going to be fine on the full version.

I cannot see any major problems in your dxdiag. You have onboard sound rather than a sound card and that can sometimes cause problems with the sound in games, but this seems more like a graphics problem.

Do you have a CRT monitor ? If yes, then you have the refresh rate set very low. Ideally it should be 75hz or above. You are running at 60hz which is fine for LCDs, but should definately be higher for CRTs or your eyesight will suffer (also you may experience tiredness and headaches). Your screen resolution is quite low at 1024x768. I am running an equivalent AMD 3200+ machine with a 6600GT card and can easily run this game at 1280x1024 resolution without any slowdown or stutter.

If you have a CRT monitor set the monitor refresh rate (in your nvidia control panel/monitor) to 75 or 85 hz. Also increase the resolution. Let me know what happens.........

If this changes nothing I would try an earlier WHQL (Windows approved) driver from nvidia and see if that has any effect.

Report back in here with any changes to your graphics.

Two things I found with my system.
1. If the video card is too close to another card it gets very hot and causes glitches in the video. I swapped my sound and ethernet cards to give the Nvidia more space and it made a huge difference.
2. If you are running dual core processors (AMD for example) you need to force the game to run on one processor only. After the intro has finshed, if you are running XP, press CTRL_ALT_DLT and right click on the program file. Select "Set Affiinity" and uncheck CPU 1. It works for me.

Hope this helps
Steve

Have you tried the 77.77 nvidia drivers? They are quite stable with 6.x series cards and this game.

Just in case it is the onboard sound chip causing a problem you could also go into the dxdiag utility again. Go to the Sound tab. You will see a slider for hardware acceleration - move it all the way to the left so it says none. Click OK, exit dxdiag and try the game again. If it doesn't change anything go back into dxdiag and reset the hardware accleration to Full.

I download it but it's telling me the invidia setup could not locate any drivers compatible with your current hardware

Did you uninstall the previous nvidia drivers first ?

First make sure you have downloaded the driver you want to install and save it to eg. My Documents. Then uninstall the old drivers by going to Start/Control Panel/Add-Remove Programs and you should see Nvidia Display Driver or something very similar in the list. Click on it and select to remove the display drivers. You will be asked to reboot to complete the driver removal. Do this and on restart you will notice your screen resolution has been reset to a poor resolution of 800x600. Ignore this and ignore any windows messages about finding new hardware and searching for drivers (click cancel if this appears) Locate the new driver file you just downloaded - double click it and install it. Then reboot the computer again. Now set your desired screen res. in the nvidia control panel (right click on desktop, select properties, select the settings tab and slide the Screen resolution to what you prefer. Everything should now look normal again.

Don't do any of the above if you are not confident about what you are doing !

It's telling me the same thing that it cannot locate any drivers compatible with the hardware. I also used the drivercleaner 1.5 to uninstall the driver

I wonder if you have a corrupt driver download. Did you download from the official nvidia website ?

This is the link to the latest 84.21 drivers for your card and machine http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_84.21.html

This is the link to the 77.77 drivers for the samehttp://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_77.77.html

Yes. those are the sites from where i downloaded my drivers. Can it be that I have a graphics card not caompatible with the game? i don't think it's the case

Your graphics card is compatible. Have you tried another nvidia card in the slot just in case the card is developing a fault (are other games working fine with the card ?). Failing that I cannot help any further - sorry! You might get some more help by contacting the Eidos game support and sending them your dxdiag file and a description of the problem and what you have done so far.

Hope you get it fixed.

I really appreciate your help. thanks very much. Yes thats the mystery that games like splinter cell and lock-on works very well with no trace of trouble. I don't know why it's giving me such problems.

Sorry to hear that. Does the card work fine with other games at the moment ? Just checking in case the card is actually faulty.

Yes the card works really fine with other games. At the moment I have splinter cell chaos theory, Lock-on and Flight simulator 2004 installed. And they don't give me any piece of problem. I thought maybe it's not compatible with the pentium and it's compatible with an amd

I think it is a game problem with Nvidia series 6 because I had the same problem..(I have nvidia 6600)....partially I solve the problem as follows:
I install the last beta nvidia drivers from nvidia site...
then at video settings I choose mediu quality and 800X600
vertical sincronisation -yes
antianalising 8X or higher
it works better than my previous settings but if I save and then I have to load the mission, some times it happens that not to see the correct imagine and exit and load again.....after this the imagine is load correct
The same problem I have with demo version.....
Before instaling the beta last drivers and choose those settings it was like a nightmare.....I can not play the game....

I don't think it is anything specific to the geforce 6 series cards as I have an nvidia 6600 GT 128mb using the nvidia 77.77 drivers and it works fine with no problems at all at a resolution setting of 1280x1024

Well there's something seriously wrong there!

Lara Croft in a commandos game :)

Although it's probably also a driver related problem you might be better of taking a look here:

I get the same problem.

AMD FX60 dual 7800 GT system.

in and out of SLI mode, with just game settings, with latest and previous drivers.

currently loading 8195 nvidia driver

smackyabitshup

no change. game hangs with that driver too during online and normal play

I get this

http://oca.microsoft.com/en/response.aspx?SGD=abe40cd1-9a6d-4fa5-b099-e274494153b4&SID=11

In reality this should not be the fix (and isnt, have tried) as the cards are more than capable.

Have emailed nvidia, but nothing yet.

I had also problems with grafic. After few minutes of play the mess startet (big dark triangle planes apeared).
And my PC:
CeleronD 2.4
512ram(dual)
agp radeon9800 128mb
Tried to change grafic driver, but no effect.

But I solved it:
It was overheat of the CPU. I had 75*C during the play, 45*C in idle.
I needed to clean my cooling machine from dust. Now is 47*C while playing and no mess on screen.

I suggest that all of you with some graphic problems, you should check your CPUs like what buzz did. I had serious graphic trouble with some of my games until I cleaned my CPU of which 2/3 of it was completely covered with a thick layer of dust.

got a fix.

ran 3dMark03 (or 06 it doesnt matter).

get the same graphic mess in and out of SLI mode.

swapped the ports the cards were plugged into and lo and behold still fails in SLI mode, but ok in single mode.

Duff graphics card.

Called support and they swapped both cards out. Thing is they couldn't get hold of any 7800GT's anymore so they replaced them with 7900GT's.

So look out you lot online.

lol

enjoy

On my computer things look like total crap now (clicky (http://www.tafn.info/staff/sick/gfxproblem.avi).)

Had to record it with digi cam since it all looks normal when I take a screenshot or make a video with fraps. The problem occured after I installed the latest nVidia drivers. But oh well, will format my pc next month, get a new graphics card (now I have an antique 5600MX) and I'm sure everything will be fine and dandy again. :)
