Nope, the scar would be lower and under her shorts.

I always thought it was a shadow from her arm.

SHE WHAT?!

But what scar, I dont see it...

Calm down dear ;)

I think you'll find that's a shadow anyway, or less likely, a render glitch. Nothing to upset your cuppa about though.

There is a scar, and it is most noticable in the video clips, when it is very obvious. There's another thread mentioning it, because it's very prominent at the beginning of the Xbox trailer.

Wait... I say scar, I mean mark/glitch/seam of sorts ;)

import_craziej2k

it's not in the PS2 screens as far as I can see prob a glitch

And this is a picture of it:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v129/WelshTerrier/lara_scar.jpg

Maybe I'm mistaken, but it really looks like a scar and not as a graphics glitch of sorts since it's not symmetrical. I think a glitch with the rendering or modeling should appear on both sides of her tummy ...

On the other hand: why should Lara not have some scars, considering all adventures she's been through? She hasn't been working in accountancy you know ... :D . A few scars would make her look even more relistic, IMO. Well, admittedly an eye patch would be a tad over the top ... :p

Could be an appendix removal scar.

(or a bad polygon.)

Yeah? With whose child???? :D

Chris Daly

I'm telling ya, she was pregnant.... :p ;)

I'm unsure whether such a scar is from Cesarean Section delivery
It appears such invasive surgery requires a long horizontal incision
rather than the vertical scar shown

The photo's of such surgery here show what would happen
if Lara had such surgery rather than natural vaginal birth
http://pregnancy.about.com/od/cesareansection/ss/cesarean.htm

The image top left hand side of Lara
http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com/tr7/screenshots_03.html
shows no such scar at all, and you cant tell me the game will
show Lara falling pregnant and then 9 months later following delivery
of a child ,then merrily continuing the adventure. :)

Maniac 44 's suggestion of an appendix removal is closer I think
its either some injury - followed by a 3 month hospital or medical stay
( maybe this is in the game too ) or simply a mistake by graphic artists.

Medical opinions please

I'm a ceserean, born from operation. I have no scars, my mother does (naturally).

Maybe, if I remember correctly, Lara was clutching her stomach, in the final FMV of AOD, when she arrived into the arena, where Kurtis fought Boaz.

But then again, the ends don't meet. Legend was supposed to be what happened before all the TR's. Was it?

Man, this is all getting sooo confusing!

u guys all seem to forget that the game will feature a plane crash, which she survived, thats where the scar comes from

Mangar The Dark

Yeah, you know, considering all the #@%& this woman's been through, I hardly think it's surprising that she has a scar or two.

(I don't know if it's SUPPOSED to be a scar, but I could certainly see how she may have a scar or two, in any case.)

StarChampagne
7th Dec 2005, 19:35
Hmm... I am not convinced that this is a scar. Something about the way... it really does look like a glitch. Well, the vertical seam looks wrong. And also, in the concept art and things, Lara doesn't have it. Realistic as it might be, it doesn't strike me as something CD would do... give Lara a scar. But then again... :)

In some of the screens it isn't there at all…the 3-D test of her doesn't show it.
I wouldn't mind if Lara DID have a scar, though…on her arm or something.

Deckard
8th Dec 2005, 23:57
Hmmm, maybe it's like this: the accident causing Lara's injury happens during the game  ! So on some screenies the scar is there and on others it ... isn't ;). Of course, the result of this is that in some level of Legend we will have to use some special equipment, e.g. swiss army knife with inbuilt sewing kit, and do some emergency surgery on Lara. Like a female version of "Rambo I" - do you recall the scene? I've never been able to watch it, btw :D :D :D ! Depending on our "skill" as surgeon the scar will be more or less visible (bonus points!) and heal more or less quickly (even more bonus points!) :D . I think I nailed it down pretty well, didn't I? ;) :p

I was speaking to a local doctor at a Xmas gathering and he
said the location of the scar suggested a kidney operation  .

Could it be that Lara injured herself with the new magnetic thingy
grappling hook which looks to be located on her belt fairly close
to the now infamous scar !! :D

Stuntbabe X
19th Dec 2005, 22:44
Yeah maybe she held the grapple backwards and it went into her stomach and snatched out a kidney and she had to have a doctor put it back in?

The infamous SCAR looks like it might be selectable from the
menu ie: Option Play with Scar, or Dont play with Scar. :D

If you choose play with scar you will probably need to find more
medi kits so Lara can heal. :) I think playing with the Scar could
be more of a challenge

I wonder if theyve caught on to the glitch because now theyve started to release new screenshots with the glitch still in place and uhmmmm... it aint fixed.

I have checked MissLara2U's new 45 HQ images for PS2
and cannot find the infamous scar, so it looks like it is
indeed confined to XBox 360.

I wonder if limbs are selectable from the menu ie: so you can play
with one leg or two - now that would be interesting.

Disability can be ability !!! :)

** For TR4 Fans there was a bug where Lara only used just 1 arm.
It added a real sense of challenge and added affinity with Lara
playing with a disabled arm.
See Stella's walkthrough:

I agree with ya !

me too. I like how Legend looks on PS2, period. The texture and everything is perfect compared to the PC/XBOX/XBOX360, which are just too smooth for my liking.

Hell, I think the PSP version looks even better.

Johnny
12th Jan 2006, 03:56
The environment textures on the Xbox 360 and PC are stunning, but Crystal Dynamics went a little overboard with Lara's texturing. The texture on her clothing resembles that of potato sac! And there is something different about her face compared to the PS2 Lara model that doesn't appeal to me. The game is still in development though, so I shouldn't judge until I see the final product.

JoeyLovesLara
14th Jan 2006, 02:07
Haha, well I'm hoping it's a glitch that has since been fixed.... I can't stand the thought of Lara's body being imperfect.

They did the same exact scar to Sydney Bristow on ALIAS, and it turned out that people made an incision on that very spot, and removed her eggs. They then fertilized the eggs and planned to train her babies as a some kind of super-spies. Maybe Pierre got wind of this technology.

I say give her more scars...adds realism.

My suggestions would include:

a bloody scraped elbow,
scab encrusted knee,
a bruised cheek bone,
leg scars from various steel rods surgically implanted due to various mishaps, maybe even a tracheotomy scar.

Maybe reanimate her walk and run stride so she hobbles ever so slightly...or have her knees wobble after jumps from high places. Man I'd be so impressed with CD for being that gutsy

I have the PC version and there isn't a scar. Either someone is trying to pull a fast one on us or whatever console they're using is dying. Though I do wonder about the shimmering on her tummy.
