waldi
26th Aug 2005, 23:28
ready and waiting thanks for helping me out

MAXB
26th Aug 2005, 23:32
No problem. First thing I want you to do, is make a new folder (this is an experiment) and call it MODS. Put it anywhere. I keep mine in myprogram directory. After you create the new folder extract all the contents of Icanus new program to it. Let me know when you are finished. ;)

waldi
26th Aug 2005, 23:34
iam finished next step

MAXB
26th Aug 2005, 23:36
open up the unitdata folder. There should only be the modelcombate.dt file in there. let me know if this is correct.

waldi
26th Aug 2005, 23:39
no there are all the other texts in there

MAXB
26th Aug 2005, 23:43
ok. that should be ok. What I want you to do next is go into the unitdata folder and find the file for the inf-lightinf. The first 4 lines should look like the following. Let me know if it does.

368 uValTropa: 100 * health per soldier
372 uUnidades: 60 * number of soldiers in unit
376 um_VidaTotal: 6000 * Total Health of unit
380 uVidaActual: 6000 * Current Health of unit

waldi
26th Aug 2005, 23:48
no i changed it to 200 and saved over the previous text

MAXB
26th Aug 2005, 23:58
Ok. That explains why the folder is full. In order for me to show you exactly what to do, you need to do this just like I instruct you. This way you will see whats going on. Everything that is in the new Mod folder you created I want you to delete it. Make sure it is completely empty. After it is empty extract the DTFileIO-1 to it. This was the new zipped program of Icanus you downloaded. If you do this properly, in the folder you should have the unitdata folder with only the modelcombate.dt file in it. You should also have in your mod folder an icon of a soilder that starts the program.also a readme file and and a log file. Let me know when you are done or if you have problems with it.

waldi
27th Aug 2005, 00:04
ok i did wat you asked but no log but that usually come up when i start the program

MAXB
27th Aug 2005, 00:06
ok. Is the unitdata filder empty except the modelcombate.dt file. Dont start the program yet

waldi
27th Aug 2005, 00:10
yes its empty and i didnt start the program yet

MAXB
27th Aug 2005, 00:14
OK. Great. Now we are getting somewhere. Next start the program by clicking the icon of the soilder. push the number 2 on your keyboard and hit enter. At the top of your program it should say WORKING after you do this. It only lasts a few seconds. After the program finishes open up your unitdata file and it should be full of unit files. Let me know if this is correct.

waldi
27th Aug 2005, 00:17
it took less then a second but it worked the files are there

MAXB
27th Aug 2005, 00:19
OK. Now open up the file that says inf-lightif. Itshould say the following. Let me know if this is correct

368 uValTropa: 100 * health per soldier
372 uUnidades: 60 * number of soldiers in unit
376 um_VidaTotal: 6000 * Total Health of unit
380 uVidaActual: 6000 * Current Health of unit

waldi
27th Aug 2005, 00:21
yes its exactly like that

MAXB
27th Aug 2005, 00:28
ok. cool. Now, go back into that inf-lightinf file and change the number of soilders from 60 to 200. change the the total health of unit from 6000 to 20000 (twenty thousand) and the current health of unit from 6000 to 20000 (twenty thousand.) be very careful when you do this. Change only the nimbers and dont move any of the text lines. After you change the numbers, close the inf-lightinf file. It will ask you if you want to save changes. Answer yes. Let me know if this is correct after you finish.

waldi
27th Aug 2005, 00:33
wat about the other expiernce levels should i change them too

MAXB
27th Aug 2005, 00:35
for now lets just concentrate on the unit size. once you know how to do that, you then can change anything you like the same way. if you changed the unit size correct it should now look like this. let me know if this is correct.
368 uValTropa: 100 * health per soldier
372 uUnidades: 200 * number of soldiers in unit
376 um_VidaTotal: 20000 * Total Health of unit
380 uVidaActual: 20000 * Current Health of unit

waldi
27th Aug 2005, 00:38
no i asked about the levels like level 1,2,3,4 each one of them has the number of troops and health

waldi
27th Aug 2005, 00:39
yes thats wat i put down

MAXB
27th Aug 2005, 00:41
Yes each level will have to be changed. But for now I just want to see if your program is right and if it works in the game for you. After out test is completed, then you can change all the levels. For now all we are concentrating on is level 1. Once again, does your lightinfantry file look like this on the first 4 lines?

368 uValTropa: 100 * health per soldier
372 uUnidades: 200 * number of soldiers in unit
376 um_VidaTotal: 20000 * Total Health of unit
380 uVidaActual: 20000 * Current Health of unit

waldi
27th Aug 2005, 00:46
yes it does look like that

MAXB
27th Aug 2005, 00:49
If the first 4 lines reflect the changes, then the next thing you do is go back to the program (icon of the soilder) and press 3 and hit enter. After the program is finished I want you to go back into the unitdata folder and delete all the unit files. Do not delete the modelcombate.dt file. Let me know when you are finished.

waldi
27th Aug 2005, 00:55
iam finished and do i have to always delete the files or keep them in the folder

MAXB
27th Aug 2005, 00:59
No you dont have to always delete the files. They stay in your folder. Im having you do it now to see if the modelcombate.dt file is working for you. The next thing I want you ro do is go back to the program and press 2 and hit enter. When the program is finished, open up your unitdata file again and all the unit files should be back in there. Check the light infantry file again and see if the changes are still there. Let me know if this is correct.

waldi
27th Aug 2005, 01:03
yes they are the last time i did that they werent

MAXB
27th Aug 2005, 01:09
The next thing I want you to do is go to your gamemodes folder of your IG folder and find the modelcombate.dt file and make a copy of it and save the copy somewhere safe. Dont copy it to your MOD folder. If you have to make a new folder and copy it there. You will find it under Imperial Glory/Games/Gamemodes. Let me know when you are done.

waldi
27th Aug 2005, 01:11
um i dont have that file i deleated it earlier is that going to be a problem

MAXB
27th Aug 2005, 01:14
No. I just wanted to play this safe. We are ok though. Make a copy of the modelcombate.dt file that is in your MOD folder. (not the one in your unitdata folder).Paste the copy in your gamemodes folder. Let me know when you are finished.

waldi
27th Aug 2005, 01:16
yes i did it

MAXB
27th Aug 2005, 01:21
Now the fun part. Im not sure what is in your gamemodes folder or what you deleted from there. We will try this and see if it works. I want you to start the game up and choose the campaign mode. Select England as your country. When the game starts check your starting units on the map. One should be a light infantry (he is pointing a rifle). See if his unit size is now 200. Let me know what happens.

waldi
27th Aug 2005, 01:30
no its still 60 men     :(

MAXB
27th Aug 2005, 01:36
ok. are all of the following in your IG folder?

Audio folder
Effects folder
Engine folder
Fonts folder
Game folder
Models folder
Teclas folder
texto folder
Textures folder
Video folder

Binkw32.dll
Config.sb
data.pak.bak
Game.sb
Imperial Glory Manual.pdf
ImperialGlory.exe
Ogg.dll
readme.rtf
Text.pak.bak
Vorbis.dll

waldi
27th Aug 2005, 01:39
yes but text is just text pak and data is just data pak not pak. bak

MAXB
27th Aug 2005, 01:44
Im not sure if that makes a difference or not. I dont think so. Before we do anything else, I want you to delete the modelcombate.dt file you copied to the gammodes folder. Then I want you to go to your MOD folder and make a copy of it again plus a copy of program (icon of the soilder) and a copy of the unitdata file Paste them all in the gamemode folder. Let me know when you are done.

waldi
27th Aug 2005, 01:49
ok i did it

MAXB
27th Aug 2005, 01:52
Go into your unitdata folder in the gamemode and delete all the files again. Then run your program again. All the files should be back in the unitdata folder again. Then check your light infantry file and see if changes are still there. If they are make a copy of the first 4 lines and paste them in your next post so I can see it.

waldi
27th Aug 2005, 01:55
368 uValTropa: 100 * health per soldier
372 uUnidades: 200 * number of soldiers in unit
376 um_VidaTotal: 20000 * Total Health of unit
380 uVidaActual: 20000 * Current Health of unit

waldi
27th Aug 2005, 01:57
in the notepad there lined up perfectly and another thing when i try to install the 1.1 patch one of the links tells me iam missing vorbdis.dll but its there

MAXB
27th Aug 2005, 01:59
I know you are getting a little frustrated but we will figure this out. It should be working. Go ahead and run your program again and press 3 and enter. We will overwrite the modelcombate.dt file again. Then run the game again and check the soilder to see if his unit size has changed. Let me know.

waldi
27th Aug 2005, 02:11
no it didnt work

MAXB
27th Aug 2005, 02:16
It should be working. Im not sure what the vorbis.dll is but if you got a message saying it was missing or not working it could be corrupted I guess. I guess the only thing you can do is completely uninstall the game and start over. Thats a pain but Im not sure what else to do. Before you do that you might try changing the pak names like it was suggested but Im not sure if that will help.
