Crystal Dynamics' first crack at the Tomb Raider franchise will be unveiled in a theatre format at the Leipzig Games Convention on August 17.

Tomb Raider: Legend was shown behind closed doors at E3 only to select media, so the German convention will be the first time the general public gets to see what the new Lara looks like.

An Eidos spokesperson tells Next Generation that the game will not be shown in playable form, but instead will be shown in as a part of a theatrical demonstration. Team members are expected to be on-hand to answer questions.

Tomb Raider is one of a handful of notable games being shown for the first time publicly at the Leipzig Games festival. Indeed the event seems to be growing in prominence as an important outlet for such introductions.

It seems like Eidos' entire marketing/PR department needs to be fired! All we seem to be getting is conflicting reports (release dates, wrong trailers being released and now this).

Every other site is saying it will be playable and I personally believe IGN more than next-gen.
